In this podcast excerpt, the hosts discuss the character Alice, revealing that the creator initially wrote her primarily as a vehicle to convey specific ideas rather than as a fully realized, engaging protagonist. The speaker acknowledges the difficulty of this approach, noting that using a character merely as an instrument can hinder storytelling, but emphasizes the original intent to use Alice as a vessel for delivering thematic concepts.

What is Alice going towards? What is she looking for?
Yeah. So Alice, Alice for me was a difficult character to write because I, in some ways, she was just an instrument to get the ideas across for me initially. And I know that that doesn't necessarily make for, um, as an engaging story, but For me, it was more about, I just wanted to get the ideas out and she was a vessel through which that could, I could deliver those ideas.
