I'm your host, your coach, your teacher Omar Zenholm. I'm also the co founder of the $100 MBA, a complete business training and community online. And in today's episode you will learn the one thing that will 3x your work productivity. Today I want to share with you the one thing you can do to dramatically increase your productivity during your workday. When I learned this hack, I was actually floored because it makes complete sense, yet it's so simple. The more you can get done, the more you can grow and the more you can actually take some time off and relax and recoup so you can take on the next day. In today's episode, I'll share with you what this one productivity hack that will drastically improve your workday and your efficiency as well as how to implement it. So let's get into it. Let's get down to business. So we all want to get more done during the day. We want to get more work done. We want to cross off more things on our to do list, want to be more productive. So here's one thing that you can work on to to get your productivity to the next level. Now I got this hack from a friend, Noah Kagan, who's the chief Sumo over@Sumo.com and it's absolutely brilliant when you come to think about it. What is the one thing you do all day running a business, especially an online business? Well, you might be saying, well I'm on my computer all day. That's true. What are you doing on my computer? Well, most likely you're typing, writing, Emails, writing, documentation, blog posts, content planning, slack messages, more and more, your communication is written. We do a heck of a lot of typing during the day. So if you can improve your typing, you can improve your productivity. Most of us are not typing fast enough. We're not typing as fast as we can. And that's because we probably never picked up typing as a skill or as a class. But those who can touch type really quickly actually can churn out so much more work. You're, you're replying to all your emails during the day takes you an hour. If you can speed up your typing by double, just double typing twice as fast, you're going to save a half hour every day. That's two and a half hours a week, that's 10 hours a month, that's a workday. Give yourself a three day weekend every month. This is absolutely brilliant. Just speed up your typing speed and you're going to churn out more work. If you're like me, your brain is moving so fast, faster than you can actually type. And in fact when I was learning this concept, I realized that when I type often, I skip words because I'm just not catching up to my brain. And that's because I'm not typing fast enough. But I have to learn how to type faster. And typing is a skill just like any other skill that you have as an entrepreneur and you gotta really sharpen that skill. But not only do you need to type fast, you gotta type accurately. Type well. That way you're not wasting time making edits. So how do you do this? Well, you can easily do this with some really great typing games. The one that I use is called Hyper Shark. It's a really old school looking game, lousy graphics, but it's really fun and it allows you to really progress and become a better typer without even noticing. Just Google Typer Shark and you'll see it. I am sure there are other typing games that can help you become a better typer that you can check out, but this is just the one I use. In fact, I did a little bit of research to find some different type of typing games you might be interested in. If you like role playing games, adventure games, then God of Word is one that's very popular. If you like arcade music, then check out Steno Arcade. If you're a Disney fan, check out Mickey's Typing Adventure. Whatever you choose, just get started and allot some time during the day to work on your typing. I kinda like to do this at the start of the day or at the end of the day where I don't really need to use my brain too much, kind of waking up, starting the day, or I'm winding down. And it's kinda just a fun way to get my typing better. So just plug it in the calendar, spend 20 minutes every day, and you will see progression, you will see improvement if you put in 20 minutes every day. In fact, I saw improvement when I tried this after just a few weeks. I was typing faster, more accurately, and also, of course, without looking, just looking straight at my screen and not on my keyboard. Now, there's another tool you can use when it comes to typing that will save you a whole bunch of time, and that's textexpander. I love textexpander. I've been using it for years on the Mac. It's called Atex. So when do you use textexpander? Well, when you are writing anything that has common phrases, intros, outros, for example, like your intro when you say hello to people in an email. Basically, I create a set of shortcuts with textexpander that equal a phrase or a whole bunch of text if I want. So for example, I might write xhl, it's my code for hello, and I start everything with X because, hey, there's not a lot of words that start with X that you normally type. So therefore you won't kind of trigger the textexpander by mistake. So for example, if I wrote the word hello as my shortcut, I might be intending to write hello and not trigger the textexpander. So I do xhl and when I type that in, textexpander is on. It just populates where my cursor is. With everything I told textexpander XHL equals. So that might be just say, hey, it's nice to meet you. I'm Omar. I'm the CEO and co founder of webunner Ninja. So. So instead of me writing all that out every time I write an email or write an email that has that kind of greeting, I just write xhl and it writes it all out. If you actually do the math, that's like speeding up your typing tenfold. Another hack that actually Noah passed on to me is speeding up your mouse how fast it reacts. Often our mouse speeds by default are pretty slow, but if you max it out, the slightest movement is going to take you to the other side of the screen or allow you to scroll faster and that's going to save you some time. I know it's just a second or two every time you Use the mouse, but those add up. Do that right now. Go to your settings, speed up your mouse, and ask yourself, hey, does this actually make things easier, faster? It might be a little hard to get used to at the start, but it's going to speed things up.
