2 Feb 2026 · 14 min
Podcast episode (The $100 MBA Show) hosted by Omar Zenhom teaching a long-term Facebook marketing strategy focused on a six-month continuous campaign. Key recommendations: commit to six months, set a budget (recommendation: $1,000/month is a good starting point; $500/month is a bare minimum — $3,000 over six months; example six-month budget cited as $6,000), use AdEspresso (starts at $49/month) to generate and A/B test many ad variants, install Facebook tracking pixel to track conversions, and split-test landing pages for congruence with ads. Omar emphasizes patience (wait ~3 days before reacting to early high costs), gradual budget increases, and that ROI may occur months after initial signups. Episode includes sponsor ads (Dell, ClickUp, Capella University, Prolon) and a Free Ride Friday giveaway (winner: Franklin T.). Practical business strategies you can actually use every single day with our daily 10 minute business lessons for the real world. I'm your host, your coach, your teacher Omar Zenholm. I'm also the co founder of the $100 MBA, a complete business training and community online. And in today's episode you will learn my long term Facebook marketing strategies. I've been running Facebook ads for our businesses for our brands for about three and a half years now. I dabbled in Facebook ads the first couple of months or I would say the first six months. But in the last couple of years we've really gotten serious about it. The and I learned that the power of Facebook marketing is really in the long term gains. You need to have a long term strategy to get the most out of Facebook marketing and get the most out of the Money that you're spending. If you run a campaign one week and then stop advertising the week after and you skip a month and then you try again the next month, it's really hard for you to nail the right ads and really get a return on investment when you do this right. When you have a long term strategy, Facebook marketing really becomes an incredible tool to bring in new customers every single day. It relieves so much of that stress, but you have to have a long term strategy. And that's what I want to share with you today, what I learned in our long term strategy, how to build one and how to get started right now. So let's get into it, let's get down to business, alright? Facebook marketing is very powerful till this day. It's known as the most powerful digital marketing out there. Now remember, Facebook owns Instagram as well. So when you run Facebook ads, you have the option of advertising on Instagram as well. So they cover a lot of the world, a lot of your audience. But that's not what's so powerful about Facebook. What's so powerful is how you can really target the audience and find the people that are most likely to be interested in what you're advertising. And that's what Facebook is all about. Targeting to make sure you get the right audience. So when they actually click on your ad and that's what you pay for, they actually convert into customers. So if you have the right targeting, if you're getting in front of the right people, the right match, it's going to be an incredible investment. It's really going to help you bring in so many customers for a few dollars each. So this whole marketing campaign, this long term marketing campaign has to do with getting the right targeting, reaching the right people with the right message. And the only way to do that is if you have a bit of time. It's very hard to do that in a week or a couple of weeks or even in a month. To really get the most out of Facebook, you have to have a long term plan. So we're going to set up a long term campaign. When I say campaign, I'm not talking about a Facebook campaign because we'll have several inside of these. But I mean an effort, an effort to actually really double down on Facebook marketing. So when I say long term, we're looking at six months. We're going to commit to making the most out of Facebook marketing and helping our business with it for six months. That means we're not going to quit. That means there's no interruption. Six straight Months. That means we also need a budget. Now, big companies dump a lot of money into Facebook ads every month, millions of dollars every month. But there are small businesses, bloggers, podcast hosts, that still are not huge brands, but they spend a lot of money, spend 5, 6, 7, $10,000 a month on Facebook ads. Why? Because they get that and then some back from these ads. After I've run my long term campaigns, I've seen that I've put in a dollar and gotten back up to two and a half to $3 back. I'll put in a dollar in that machine all day long if it's going to give you that kind of return. But it took time to, to actually refine my campaigns. So we need a budget. We need to actually invest in making sure this works for us. So no matter what your budget is, you need to actually commit to an amount, even if that amount is $1,000 a month. If you're asking yourself, well, what's the minimum? Is a thousand a minimum a month, I think a thousand is actually a good number because it's enough for you to see some traction and to see some wins and to get some sales and feel like, wow, this is working. But if I had to say the bare minimum is to spend $500 a month and that's 3,000 over the course of six months, you're not going to see huge, huge differences in the first month or two. Not as much as if you put $1,000 into it every month. If you can put a thousand, I would recommend, because that's where I started, to see some real traction even after the first month. So we're going to set our time. So that's six months and we have our budget, let's say $6,000 for the six months. Now remember, this is marketing. You got to spend money on marketing. And the money you put into marketing, you're going to get back and then some with sales. So it's not a waste of money. It's not like money gone and spent. Especially with Facebook marketing, which is probably the lowest form of marketing you can do. The problem with Facebook marketing is that it spoils you. Once you start spending money on ads and seeing the returns, it's hard for you to spend money on any other form of marketing. So we got our budget, we got our timeline. Now what? Now Facebook has a way for you to create ads with something called the Facebook Power Editor. Now this is not easy to use, I have to say. They've tried to improve it over the years, but it's super complex. And you pretty much need to take a course that may cost you a few thousand dollars to learn how to use it. Or you can sign up to lynda. Com. They have some courses inside there that explores the Power Editor. This is the software. This is kind of the tool that Facebook offers to create ads. This is so you can put the ad, copy the images, you know, add the links, you can track it, all that kind of stuff. We're not gonna get into the details of the Power Editor and how to create ads. Right now we're gonna be talking about the marketing campaign strategy. But I wanna give you a tip that I want you to take on. Okay? This is one of the best tips I can give you, and that's to use a tool called adespresso. Adespresso is a very inexpensive tool to help you create video Facebook ads on a really easy budget, as well as the fact that it's easy to use. It starts at $49 a month. If you spend up to $3,000 on ads every month, it moves up in pricing as you spend more on ads. So it kind of just charges you depending on how much money you spend on ads. So in this campaign, you're going to be in the $49 a month range. Definitely worth it. Now, what is Adespresso? Number one, they're not a sponsor of the show. They don't even know I'm talking about them. I use them for our ads, and I find it absolute miracle. Okay? It's super, super simple. I've been using the Power Editor for years, and they keep changing things. It's really hard to constantly keep up with the changes. Now, what adespresso does is it kind of creates a new interface for you. It's a tool for you to create ads easily. Not only that, but what it does is it allows you to create different types of ads, different variants of the ad. So what you do is you create, you know, five different headlines, five different descriptions, you know, four different images. You can even change what the button says, learn more, or sign up or subscribe. What do you want the button to say on the ad? And once you've created all these variances, it creates all the different types of ads and mixes them all up and makes like 200 different ads, different variants of the ads, different versions of the ad. One with this headline, but with this description, but with this image. You know how hard it would be for you to do that on the Power editor to create 200 separate ads? Super hard. With adespresso you can probably do that in under 30 minutes if you have the copy ready. That's just half the power of it. The other half of the power is the tracking. It actually tracks the performance of each of those 200 ads and it will stop, you know, you spending money on ads that are not working. It'll actually tell Facebook, shut off those ads that are not converting and the ones that are converting at a very low price per conversion. Please keep, you know, sending people to that ad or show that ad to people. In essence, it's magic. Okay? It's a huge time saver. You can create Facebook campaigns in literally minutes and it does all the testing for you and it kind of optimizes everything for you to make sure that you're spending less and less money on ads. Now I've noticed that the longer I run my ads, so say for example, I try out a new ad campaign, it's got 200 different variants. If I run it for a week, I'm going to find that the price per conversion, the price per getting somebody to sign up for a free trial or one of my opt ins goes lower when my ads are running for longer. So if I run it for a week, I'll say maybe I'll get a $7 per conversion price. But I run it for two weeks, it goes down to about 625, but then three weeks it'll go down to $5.50. What's going on here? Well, it gives Facebook more time to optimize your ads and show it to the right people. If you don't give it time, it just doesn't have enough time to learn who to show these ads to and how to make sure you're showing it to the right audience. So see why the long term strategy really matters. When I run a campaign for a month, and that's usually my sweet spot, I run it for a month and then I optimize that campaign, I redo it, I run another campaign for another month. It really maximizes and lowers the price per conversion. So we're going to go for six months, we're going to invest a certain amount of money, a minimum $6,000, and we're going to use Adespresso to make our life easier. A couple pointers. Make sure you're tracking conversions and using Facebook's tracking pixel, they give you a certain code that you put on the pages you are trying to market. So if that's an opt in page or a sales page or you know, a free trial page, they're going to ask you to put a little code in the header T. If you don't know how to do that, no problem. Just as your web developer or your web host or whoever you know manages your website, it takes two seconds to do and then you also do that on the page they see after they signed up. So that way Facebook knows that that person converted. Now when you do that, you'll be able to track per conversion you'll be able to do that. That's my preferred way of doing it because I don't really care about how many people click or how many people have visited the page. I really just care about how many people signed up. How much am I paying per each person to sign up for my webinar or for my free course or to get on my email list. So make sure you do that. The next tip is Facebook can only do so much. You need to make sure that everything is very congruent with your ad. So let's say for example, you have an ad with your image. Make sure the same image is on the page they land on so it all looks congruent. It's not jarring. Make sure the messaging is the same on the ad as well as on the landing page you're sending them to. I highly recommend you create different landing pages and split test. Create a landing page with the normal navigation menu on your website or one that's called a squeeze page with no navigation menu. See which one converts better. Run an ad with a landing page that has a different headline. All Facebook is doing is bringing them to your website. Your job is to convert them. So make sure that that you're constantly trying to improve your copy and making sure that you're split Testing landing pages to make sure that you're giving your page or your visitor the best chance to convert.

I want to Wrap up today's episode with some warnings. When you're running Facebook campaigns, especially when you're doing long term campaigns, you'll have the tendency to want to change things so quickly, like the first few hours or the first day. It takes time for Facebook to learn how to best optimize your ads and how to make sure it gets it in front of the right people. So you might notice that the first few hours, even the first day, that it's costing you a lot to get somebody to, you know, convert. An ad that will convert at around $5.50 per conversion at the end of a month may start out at like a conversion of $12. And you're like, whoa, this is expensive. Don't worry. Facebook will optimize things, change things, and you'll see that drop. I would wait three days before starting to worry and want to kind of shut off ads that are not converting or costing you too much money. If by the end of three days it's not going down, if it's not, you know, kind of regulating the price per conversion, then you should take action. But with ad espresso, it kind of does that for you automatically so you don't have to worry about it. But I know from experience when you start seeing your ads convert, like, wow, I spent, you know, $50 on three conversions. What's going on here that might happen the first few hours? It's okay. It's still learning. Just kind of the cost of doing business. Another warning is this is a long term campaign. The people that sign up to your mailing list, to your free course, your free webinar, your whatever, may not convert into customers in your first month. You may not see the ROI immediately. Some of them will, some of them will become customers. Someone will sign up for your trial or buy your product. But often I see the people that convert from my ads will convert, you know, three, four, five months down the line. This is why we need to give it months so we can be able to see the fruits of our labor. Often when we run ads for a week or two, you know, it's not enough time for us to see the conversion. Another tip is sometimes we see ads doing so well. Wow, I'm getting conversions at two and three dollars. I'm going to, you know, up my campaign budget from a thousand to five thousand. I want to spend more money per day. That's not the smartest move. Never increase your daily budget, your daily spend dramatically like that. It kind of throws the algorithm off whack. And you often spend too much money on ads. You want to increase your daily budget slowly as things go on. So if you want to increase, you want to put money into it. I usually like to create a new campaign and test it against the campaign that's doing well. Or I would increase it slowly so I'd add. So I'd go from like a hundred dollar spend a day to 110, 120 and each week I'll add $20 or $25 to the daily spend. Well, there you have it. I hope that has helped you create and start today your Facebook marketing campaign for the long term. Six months. Let's put some good money into it and use some good tools like ad espresso. But today's episode's not over. It's Free Ride Friday. I got to give away a lifetime membership to EZCorps. Let's see who won this week's free ride. And the winner is Franklin T. Franklin T.
