Let's get into today's episode. Hello. Welcome to the Hundred Dollar MBA show, the business podcast that delivers practical business lessons every single day with our daily 10 minute business lessons for the real world. I'm your host, your coach, your teacher Omar Zenholm. I'm also the co founder of the $100 MBA, a complete business training and community online. In today's lesson, you'll learn how to create a presentation deck in one hour. Whether you're creating presentation slides for a webinar, for a sales pitch, for a pitch to investors, for a demo, it can get time consuming. I know. I run tons of webinars. I run over 500 webinars myself, all of them having slides. So how do you put together a keynote or PowerPoint presentation slide in record time? Well, I have a system. A system that I have built over the years to speed up the process. You see, when I run webinars, I have to create new presentation slides because I change the topic and test new things out. Sometimes I can rehash old slides, but for the most part A lot of the times I have to start from scratch. So in today's lesson, I'm going to show you how you can create your presentation slides quickly, efficiently, and professionally in record time. So let's get into it. Let's get down to business. We got a lot to cover. So let me jump right into it. How are we going to create a presentation deck that's informative, that's useful, that's engaging in an hour? Well, obviously, you need to make sure that your slides are not like hundreds of slides. With this system, if you have 30 to 40 slides or less, you could pull this off in an hour. I know. I've tried this over and over again. Now, you need a few tools. Most of them are absolutely free. The first thing is I love to use Google Drive because it allows me to create folders in the cloud that I can access anytime. In the drive, I create a folder with the name of the presentation. Inside that folder, there's two other folders. One of them says content, the other one says Media. Now, I know what you're thinking. Hey, Omar, Google Drive folders. What are you talking about? Where are my presentation slides? Just trust me. This is going to speed things up by having some organized system so you can create your slides quickly. Putting the slides together is actually the last piece of the puzzle. And you're gonna see in today's episode how it's all built. So I have my folders all set up. The first thing I'm gonna do is I'm gonna go into my content folder and I'm gonna create a new document. Now, obviously, you can do this all outside of Google Drive on your computer itself, but I prefer Google Drive because it's easily accessible. So I'm gonna create a document and I'm gonna call this outline. This. This is where I outline my actual presentation slide. If I'm running a webinar, a sales pitch, whatever it is, I'm gonna outline the content I wanna deliver. This is like a lesson plan. Now, a lot of people have a hard time starting an outline, so I'm gonna tell you how to get started. Start with the end in mind. What's the goal? What do you want them to have or to gain or to learn? At the end of your presentation, write that down. Then ask yourself, how will you get there? What steps, what parts, what tips do you need to convey to get to that goal? That becomes the structure of your outline. Those four or five tips or parts or steps, and then you can break down each step or each part into Three points or bullet points explaining each step. Or you can play step with tip or information, whatever you want to call it. Once you have all those points together, your outline is starting to flesh out. Now you want to start with an intro explaining what you're going to cover today. Well, the goal of today is you might want to add, you know, a slide at the end called Q and A to prompt people for questions. If you have an offer, where you're going to make an offer, like a sales webinar, make sure there is a slide for that. So plug these in into your outline. Again, this is just writing in a document. You're not opening your slides yet. Trust me, this is going to make things a whole lot faster. So you have the whole structure of your actual presentation in a document. Once you have the structure, I want you to change the font color. Okay? When you change the font color, go from black to blue. Say for example, now you're going to write the information for each point that's going to be on the slide. You don't want to write a whole story, a whole paragraph. You want to make sure that it's just enough to prompt you to explain that point. Use a T shirt rule. What would you fit on a T shirt? Put that on your slide. Now you have all your content. Okay, now we gotta go into the media. Now that you know what you're gonna be talking about, all the different points, you wanna take a look at each point of your outline and find an image that will correlate with it. This image could be the background image of your actual slide. It could be an image that will go along with some bullet points. The point is, is that you want to have some visuals for your slides. So you're gonna go to a site like unsplash.com, it has royalty free, free images for you to download. Free. Write the keywords in the search box and download those images and drag them into that folder. You wanna get all the images you're gonna need for all your slides. You also wanna add obviously your logo, if you have one. Put that into the folder. At this point, you're about, at the 30 minute mark, you're halfway through, you might be saying, omar, I haven't even opened my PowerPoint or Keynote software. What's going on? How am I gonna do this? Well, this is the easy part. Once you open up your slide presentation software, whether it's keynote or PowerPoint or even slides using Goog Free, that's part of the Google Suite, you're gonna open up A presentation. Use any of the templates if you like. You could change colors, all that kind of stuff later on. And now you're gonna take each bullet point of your actual outline and make it a slide. You have all the text already. Remember, we wrote it in blue. Pop that text into the slide. You have the images that go with each point. So pop that image into the slide. Now. It's just manual labor. You don't have to think anymore. You've done all the work, you've done all the content, all the media. Now you're just putting the pieces of the puzzle together. This is going to be lightning fast, Trust me. Now, the reason why this is so fast is because what we try to do normally is you try to think about the content and all about the media at the same time. Putting the slides together and finangling it with our software, our brains have a hard time juggling all that. When you focus only on the content and say, hey, what do I want to cover? What do I want to say? How am I going to get to the point? How am I going to deliver results?
And.
And you just write down in text. It allows you to focus really quickly and get that information down. When you're presented with a blank screen, it forces you to actually write down some information. When you have that media file and you're dumping photos, all you're doing is trying to find photos that will match the content, the actual outline that you have for your presentation slides. So you're laser focused. You're removing all the obstacles, all the distractions, and just focusing on images and your logo and all that stuff. And then when it comes to building your slides, you have the formula all ready to go. You have all the bullet points. You make a slide. For each bullet point, you copy and paste the text. You may want to just edit a few things to fit the slide, Then you drop the photo, and before you know it, in under an hour, you're done. Yes, this sounds simple, but it works. Trust me. The next time you put a presentation slide together, do this. Now, a couple of tips. When your slides are all done, I highly recommend you send it over to somebody to proofread it. It could be a friend, it could be a colleague, it could be an employee. You're working fast, you're brainstorming, you're writing things down. You may make a few grammarical errors or some typos. I'm the king of typos. So I have Nicole look over my work all the time. I put my ego aside because I Know I will make mistakes. So get somebody to proofread your slides.

All right, there's gonna be some challenges in this process of creating your presentation deck. And in one hour, the first challenge is you're going to be compelled to open up your slides and do all that creative stuff of playing with the colors and slides and all that kind of stuff. Do not do that. Don't open your slide software. Trust the process. Just give it a shot. Start with an outline. Get the text out, all the content that you have to have on the slides. This is where it all happens. This is where it all starts. This is where the value of your presentation is really going to be conveyed. What you actually say, it's like the script of a movie. So when you have a solid outline, when you have good content, everything else is so much easier because you have the content. You just gotta find images that go with the content. And with unsplash, super simple and free. You got the content and the images. Now all you gotta do is put it all together in your slides. You already have the order because you have the outline. Nice and simple. Well, there you have it, guys. Before I go, I want to leave you with this. One of the things I learned in my years of becoming an entrepreneur is that multitasking is the enemy of productivity. When we create presentation slides, we try to multitask. We try to grab pictures, put some content, put the slide together, finagle with the slide software, play with the colors and the fonts, and it's a big waste of time. When you compartmentalize everything where you focus on the content, focus on the media, and then put it all together in your slides, it makes it so much more efficient and it kills overwhelm. And before you know it, you got some great slides on your hands. You spend the time and the attention you needed to focus on the content. So what you're saying actually matters. You found the images and the media that go with it. You put it all together in your slides. I hope that helps. And I hope to see you in Monday's episode. I'll see you then. Take care.
