Hey O welcome to the Hundred Doll, the RMBA show, the business podcast. It gives it to you straight every day with our daily 10 minute business lessons for the real world. I'm your host, your coach, your teacher Omar Zenholm. I'm also the co founder of the Hundred Dollar mba, a complete business training and community online and today's episode is a Q and A Wednesday episode. On our Q and A Wednesday episodes, I answer a question from one of you, one of our listeners. If you have a question you want to ask, just email me over@omarr.net Today's question is from Albert and Albert asks where do you recommend I post my open job positions? Well congrats Albert for hiring and growing your team. And that's a fantastic question. In today's episode I'm going to share with you some of our favorite places to post jobs for your company. Whether you're a small company, a local company, you're running a remote team around the world. We have some recommendations. We also have some recommendations when it comes to how to post a job to get the right results, how to get the right candidates. That way you're not going through, you know, hundreds of your resumes and CVs and applications, weeding out all the less than qualified candidates. Hiring can be a lot of work. But we're going to help you make it a bit easier and the whole exercise be more effective for you and your business. So let's get into it. Let's get down to business. Before you post any job openings on a job board or even tell people that you're hiring, the best investment in time that you can make is writing a great job description. What are you looking for in this candidate? What do you want this person to do in this job? The better your job description, the better the candidates you're going to attract. A lot of people worry about putting together a job description. They think it's a complicated task. Some people even just copy and paste a job description from another company and change a few things. That is a horrible idea. You don't have to do that. It actually is pretty simple. You just need to fill out four areas. One, describe what your company does. Two, describe the job, what they're going to be required to do in this job. Three, describe the type of person you want to do the job, their attitude, their skill level, all that kind of stuff. And then four, a little bit about what they're going to get for doing the job, whether it's your compensation package, your benefits, the terms, how long it is, all that kind of stuff. That's it, four sections. It can literally be a one pager, but you have to write it and you have to make sure you know what you want, where you're going to get all kinds applying. So that's number one, invest the time in writing a good job description. Number two, at the bottom of your job description, you're going to put a link and that's going to be a link to your Google form. I want you to create a Google form. It's free. It's basically going to be a job application. And there's a template in Google forms for job application. Now, the reason why you want to do this is that you want to ask them questions that only the right candidates can answer. If you're hiring a customer service manager, for example, then you want to ask some questions that only a great customer service manager knows how to answer. Like, tell me a time where you had to turn a customer around and get them to stay with the company. Give them some scenarios or some mock questions a customer may ask. Give them some resources they can use, like, hey, look at this website. Look at our help docs and, and answer these questions as if you were the customer service manager working for us. And of course you're going to ask for information like their name and Email address or phone number, maybe their Skype id. If you're going to do a Skype interview and what you want to do is you want to make this like a pre interview. You want to make sure that those who complete the form are really interested and those who don't complete the form are not going to apply. And you're going to save so much time weeding out the less than perfect candidates. Right. And just by the answers they give, you can flag, yes, I want to interview this person or no, this person is giving me answers that are making me feel like, hey, maybe they're not a good fit. So Job description Link to a Google Form. Google form has an application that has, you know, mock questions of what that position would have to deal with. Now, where do you post this? Well, there's lots and lots of job boards out there. Remember, your biggest problem is not going to be. Not enough people are going to apply. Your biggest problem is going to be the opposite. Too many people apply. So you want to find a job board that can narrow down your search and only, you know, attract the right candidates. One service that is really good at that is LinkedIn Jobs. Full disclosure, LinkedIn Jobs has been a sponsor on our show before, but they're actually a really good service because they find candidates. They're not only qualified, but not necessarily looking for a job. They're just on LinkedIn. And those are the best candidates, the ones that have jobs. Right. And because LinkedIn Jobs is perfectly integrated with LinkedIn, they're able to display these jobs to people that may be interested, that are already in jobs. Super awesome AI when it comes to that. So I definitely would check in LinkedIn jobs if you have a job opening that's either remote, a remote position where they're going to be working from home, or from a virtual office, or if you have a physical office in a local area, both options. You can find candidates on LinkedIn jobs. You can get $50 off with their promo code. I think it's still active from the time when they actually were sponsors. You go to LinkedIn.com mba now if you want your job to spread far and wide, be posted on as many job boards as possible, and you really want to open up the pool as much as possible. Then we recommend ZipRecruiter. ZipRecruiter actually sends out your job to over a hundred different job boards. What's cool about this is that it saves you time. You post once and it sends to all 100 plus job boards at one time. If you want to try ZipRecruiter for free. They also were sponsors. And again, when they're sponsors on the show, we vet them, we make sure they're a good fit. We don't get any commission or anything like that, but they do give us a coupon. So I should pass that on. This is a free trial for ZipRecruiter. Go to ZipRecruiter.com MBA for that. But it's really a good tool for spreading your job to as many job boards as possible. Now if you're like our company, which is a remote company, all our employees are, are located around the world and they work remotely. I like to attract people that are familiar with that work lifestyle, are familiar with expectations, and are familiar with how to work remotely with a remote team. There's a lot of learning curve. There's, you know, a big learning curve. I would say when people go from working in an office to working remotely, there's a lot of time management, self control that needs to be adapted, needs to be learned. I really would prefer somebody that already knows all that, that already is adapted, that knows how to work remotely. So a good site to find people that are already in that groove is a site called WeWork remotely. It's a great job board. It's $300 for a job posting that lasts a month. And we found some really good candidates there. And again, it's specific to remote workers. You can find developers, marketers, customer service reps, salespeople up to you. It's a really clean site and it attracts some really top candidates. It also attracts some tech savvy people. So if you're looking for somebody that has some tech, know how. WeWork remotely is a great job board. If you're hiring somebody who's going to be a remote player, thy ticket lady, Jennifer of Coolidge.

So to wrap up today's Q and A Wednesday, Albert's question, where do I recommend to post your open job positions? Well, we love LinkedIn jobs ZipRecruiter and we work remotely for remote jobs. And more importantly, how to make sure you create the best job description and application process to weed out the people that are not a good fit for you or your company before they actually apply. When you look at those applications, you only spend the time interviewing people that gave you the answers that hey, this looks like a pretty good candidate. I hope that helps Albert and I hope that helps everybody who's listening. If you have a question you want to ask, just email me over@omar00mba.net I would love to answer it right here on Q and A Wednesday. That's it for me, guys. Wow, what a journey. Before I go, I want to leave you with this. Hiring can be a lot of work, but my advice from experience is don't rush it. Whenever I rush the hiring process, I make a mistake. I make the mistake of making a hire that I shouldn't have had. So don't rush the hiring process. Take the time. Even if it takes a few weeks, even a couple months. It's okay. Be picky. You're entrusting this person with your baby, your business. Thank you so much for listening. I'll check you in tomorrow's episode. I'll see you then. Take care.
