I'm your host, your coach, your teacher Omar Zenholm. I'm also the co founder of the Hundred Dollar mba, a complete business training and community online. And in today's lesson you will learn the five best business podcasts that I recommend in 2019. Yes, I listen to other business podcasts other than my own and I know if you love this podcast you're going to love the ones I'm about to recommend to you today. They've helped me along the way and continue to help me and are really relevant in 2019. I'll be sharing with you, of course, the podcast the host, but in particular why that podcast can help you along your entrepreneurial journey and what I want you to do in today's episode. As you're listening, take action. Search for the podcast in the podcast app you're using and hit subscribe. That way you have it lined up and you're ready to dive in. Even if you just listen to one episode of each of today's five podcasts, in the next couple weeks, you're gonna be ahead of the game and you're gonna learn a ton. So let's jump into today's episode. Let's get into it. Let's get down to business. All right, here are my top five business podcasts for 2019. They're in no particular order, so here we go. Number one, How I Built this by Guy Raz. Guy Raz is the host. This is a NPR podcast. I think I've listened to pretty much every episode of How I Built this and even the episodes when I see the title and I'm like, not sure if I'm gonna like this by the end of that episode. I am so thankful I listened to that show, listened to that podcast episode because it was helpful. It was insightful. How I Built this is a podcast that shares the stories of founders of companies. The host, Guy Raz, does a fantastic job interviewing founders like Sarah Blakely of Spanx, the late Herb Killer from Southwest Airlines, Jake Carpenter of Burton Boards, John Zimmer from Lyft, and a whole lot more. We're talking about billion dollar companies here, but what I love about this show the most is that it's not all sunshine and rainbows. These founders share the struggles, share the hardships, share the obstacles they had to go through to get to the success. I love the fact that it gives you a tremendous amount of perspective. It paints a true picture of what it takes to be successful. It's highly produced, it's well done, and the host, Guy Raz, is one of my favorites in the podcasting game. Highly recommend you subscribe to this podcast. It's one of my favorite podcasts. It's my go to podcast when I'm looking for a great founder story. How I Built this by Guy Ross. The next podcast I recommend is Business Wars. This is a podcast from a company called Wondery, and it's hosted by David Brown. This is a different type of business podcast. This is one of those podcasts that you either absolutely love or. Or really hate. I don't know why it's so polarizing, but I personally love it. And Business wars is all about two major brands, two major businesses going to battle in the marketplace, the rise and fall of companies, Netflix versus Blockbuster, Chevrolet versus Ford, Sony PlayStation versus Nintendo. Now, what makes this podcast different is that It's a storytelling podcast. It's actually a reenactment of these stories with voice actors and, and sound effects. So it's like watching an audio documentary, an audio movie. Now, Wondery does a pretty decent job at doing as much research as possible for each episode topic, for each episode series. But of course they're not going to know every single word that was said in every conversation. But it's dramatized to make it interesting. But I find it highly entertaining. I love it. David Brown, the host of the podcast, is fantastic. They do a series of episodes, about five or six episodes for each topic. And so you'll hear five or six episodes about Pepsi versus Coke, for example, and then they'll move on to the next business war. And there are a ton to learn about the mistakes businesses made, underestimating competition, how being overconfident and cocky can cost you so much business. But also it walks you through why businesses make the decisions they make, the behind the scenes. I love that. And to be quite honest, it's just a whole lot of fun. It's really a fun podcast. Really entertaining. Highly recommend you subscribe to Business wars now. My next recommendation for a great podcast. And it's not necessarily a business podcast, but I recommend it to anybody who is a business owner. And it's the Jordan Harbinger show now. Full disclaimer. Jordan Harbinger happens to be a good friend of mine. I love Jordan Harbinger. He's a good buddy of mine. Him and his wife Jenny are good friends of Nicole and I. But Jordan's been podcasting for over a decade and he's one of the best in the game when it comes to extracting the best out of his guests. And his show is one of the top podcasts when it comes to meeting professionals that are really good at what they do. Celebrities, athletes, high ranking officers in the military, you name it, Jordan brings out the best. If you're looking to learn about leadership, about how to motivate others, what it takes to be successful in any field, whether it's successful authors or entertainers and comedians like Adam Carolla or biohacking by Dave Asprey, there's a ton to learn in every episode. It's highly produced, super professional, and I love the fact that Jordan does not waste your time. He does his homework on his guests and he only asks questions that are insightful ones that you haven't heard before. On other podcasts, on other interviews, there's no fluff, there's no unspecific questions. It's just a fantastic interview show with high caliber performers. Check out the Jordan Harbinger Show. It's a great podcast. Next on my list is Masters of Scale by Reid Hoffman. Reid Hoffman, of course, is the founder of LinkedIn. He's also one of the co founders of PayPal, so he knows a thing or two about success and successful people. One of my favorite episodes is his interview with Mark Zuckerberg. Mark Zuckerberg is incredibly hard to get as a guest, but he got him and he did a great job with that interview. Asked some tough questions and you'll learn a ton. But this podcast really focuses on how to scale your business, how to take your business to that next level where you're really influencing the world. You're influencing lots of people. And he speaks to people that have done that over and over again. The show is a little bit quirky. He makes some interesting decisions when it comes to the editing and adding some flavor to the show, but I don't think it detracts from the actual content. I think it's a great podcast to listen to and I think Reed himself is brilliant. I think he does a great job at pulling out great information from his guests, but also adding his own insights. I mean, he's a scrub, you know, he knows what he's doing. So I really like his takeaways and what he adds to the conversation and to the podcast.

All right, my fifth business podcast that I recommend is the Tim Ferriss Show. Tim Ferriss does a great job with this podcast. Now, a few things I want to say about this show. First of all, Tim as a podcaster has gotten a whole lot better over the years. He's had the show for a few years now, and it's not that his guests got better. His guests have been great from the beginning, but he's gotten better as a podcast, as an interviewer, as a host. His production has gotten better. I just see an improvement with every episode. So I want to tip my hat to Tim for upping his game every time he hits that mic. Next, Tim Ferriss Podcast Episodes are long, some of them over two hours long. So you have to kind of split up an episode to kind of listen a little bit now, a little bit later. But I like to listen to an episode in one sitting. So on a road trip or when I'm traveling on an airplane, things like that, there are a few episodes I highly recommend you listen to. The Terry Crews interview is fantastic. The Jamie Foxx interview is game changing. Same goes with the interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Some of these interviews have part one and part two, so listen to both. Again. Tim asks some really good questions. He extracts not only the successes, but the challenges that they had. But what I like about his show is that it's not just about the business or their profession or their accomplish. It's about who they are, who they had to become, how they had to change as a person in order to become the success they are in order to achieve the things they wanted, they had to change. And he talks about that change, that internal change. He talks about the habits. He asks them about their habits. What are your habits? What do you do? What is your breakfast? So you can apply that to your life, so you can adapt those habits and see the same results that they do. Or at the very least get on the path of seeing those results. He asked them what they do in their free time, what they read, what they consume. I love this because it's going beyond the actual accomplishments and really talking about what it takes to become that person that does these things, that reaches these levels of success. So great podcast, the Tim Ferriss show. Check out those episodes recommendations I just mentioned and you'll not be sorry. You'll love me for it and you'll love those episodes. That wraps up today's episode of the Hundred dollars MBA show. Thank you so much for listening. But today's episode's not over. It's Free Ride Friday.
