Let me tell you about Intuit QuickBooks. When I was starting out my business, I remember sitting at my desk late at night not working on my business but cleaning up numbers, tracking and reconciling payments and wondering how this became my life. But once I automated the admin side of things, of my finances, those nights had disappeared and I felt a whole lot better. Outdo it with intuit QuickBooks QuickBooks is the trusted end to end solution that businesses rely on for getting paid, managing finances, paying employees, finding new customers, and more. Welcome to the $100 MBA Show Business Truths to deliver daily every single day with our daily 10 minute business lessons for the real world. I'm your host, your coach, your teacher Omar Zenholm. I'm also the co founder of the $100 MBA, a complete business training and community online. And in today's lesson you will learn does business get easier if you're starting out in business? If you've been running your business for six months, a year, two years, three years. You might be asking yourself the question, is there a point where running a business gets easier? It may seem at the start that you're getting hit by challenge after challenge and the stakes keep getting higher and the things you have to overcome become even more challenging as each day goes by. And it begs the question, does this whole business thing get any easier? Well, I answer that question in quite some detail in today's lesson. I've been running businesses for around 17 years now, so I could tell you if it gets easier. I could tell you how it gets easier, if so, what to look forward to and what to look out for. That's what we cover in today's lesson. So let's get into it. Let's get down to business. I want to start this lesson by saying something that is probably not said enough in the business world, and that's business is tough. It's really hard. In my opinion, it's probably the most challenging profession you could choose. But of course, that's what makes it exciting. That's what makes the payoff so big. That's what makes you special. And in many ways, business does get easier, but it's not because things just become easier in general, it's because you become better. I see entrepreneurship very much like any kind of professional athlete. As a professional athlete gets better and better at their sport. They become faster, they become quicker, they can jump higher, their skills become more refined, the easier the game becomes, in a sense, it becomes more natural, becomes more of who they are. There's a lot less doubt and a lot less thinking and a lot less stress around the profession. And the same thing goes with entrepreneurship. The more you do it, the more experience you have, the more decisions you make, the more you learn from your mistakes, the more money you make, the more being an entrepreneur becomes second nature. A good example is when you start out in business, that first, let's say week, you might spend a whole week trying to decide one thing, make one decision. But five years into that business, you're probably making like 15 to 20 decisions a day. That muscle, that decision making muscle has just become stronger, so you're able to execute it more. So what was once hard is easier, but it doesn't mean things are less challenging. See, the funny thing about business is that we keep moving up in level. Sort of like a video game, right? The first level is not so hard, but it is relatively hard because we're new to the game. But as we move up in levels in business, as we Grow. As you start building our team and managing more people and start catering to new customers and trying to reach new goals financially and creatively, it becomes more and more challenging. More is demanded from us. I remember one time I sat down with John Lee Dumas. It was just me and him, we were having a one on one conversation. He was sitting at my house. And for those who don't know, John Lee Dumas is the CEO, the founder of Entrepreneurs on Fire. He runs the podcast Eofire as well as a website. He sells a course called Podcasters Paradise. He's a well known entrepreneur online and he makes well over $4 million in sales a year. But when I sat down with him, I asked him, did you imagine when you first started this whole thing with just your computer in your living room and you're planning your podcast and all that stuff, that you would be making this kind of money? And he told me that if somebody told me back then that I was going to make a fraction, a fraction of what I'm making now, I would have not believed him. I would have been like, what are you talking about? That's crazy talk, right? That's crazy money. But that's what's interesting about business. The goalpost keeps moving, we keep growing. And what was once hard becomes easy. What once was impossible in our heads is like standard, a given. But as you start moving up in levels, as you start achieving new and new goals and new heights, the stakes get higher. There's a lot more to lose. There's a lot more people to disappoint. Your customers, your team, yourself, your family. There's a big difference. When a business goes bust and it was making $40,000 a year versus 40 million, it's a huge blow. With 40,000 a year, you probably don't have any employees. It's not deeply impacting your life and other people. And you probably can pick up where you left off before that and you'll be okay, you'll land on your feet. But a business that is making 40 million, that's a lot of people losing their jobs, losing faith in you. Your reputation is totally on the line here and at stake. And of course, the life and the lifestyle that you built for yourself with a company that has grown to that size will be gone. Some people think, oh, it must be easier if you're making that kind of money. In a lot of ways, the bigger the fall, the harder it's gonna hurt, right? So in that way, it doesn't get easy. The pressure's higher. But I have to say that over the years of building businesses, experience has been one of the best teachers, and it's probably one of the best therapists, too. Because when you've seen something over and over happen in your business, you've seen this episode before. It's a rerun. This episode's called a challenge or a failure or an issue in your business. It's things like that will keep happening in your business, and you have to keep on trying to fix them and help them and hope and try everything you can to not let it happen again. But we live in a world, a dynamic world. Things are changing around us. We don't have control over everything. But your emotional state when it comes to challenges and problems, quote, unquote, becomes a lot calmer. Because you've seen this before. This is not unfamiliar. It's like driving an old car. Like, if you've driven an old car before, you know what I'm talking about. You know, there's certain quirks about it. Oh, you just got to Jimmy a little bit. This happens sometimes. You've seen this before. You know how to deal with it. It doesn't ruin your day and your week and your month like it used to when you first had those problems. So in many ways, it does get easier because you become better.

Who's an entrepreneur that's building a business. Even if you're starting just today, right now, today's your first day. It's a heck of a journey. It's a challenging one, one that most people don't take. So you are really a minority in this world. You're rare, you're unique. But with challenges, with pressure, with pushing yourself, you become better, not only as an entrepreneur and as a business, but as a person. You're gonna look back at your life and you're gonna feel really enriched, feel like you really took things by the horns. You know, you really took advantage of life. Most people can't say that.
