Heyo. Welcome to the Hundred Dollar MBA show, your personal business coach every day with our daily 10 minute business lessons for the real world. I'm your host, your coach, your teacher Omar Zenholm. I'm also the co founder of the Hundred Dollar mba, a complete business training and community online. And in today's lesson you will learn. Not enough time. How to add more hours in your day. How many times have you ended your day and said to yourself man, I didn't get enough done? I wish I had three or four more hours in my day. I could tell you for a second. I've said that to myself countless times. Well in today's episode I'm going to show you how to do that. How to add hours to your day. No, it's not magic. It's not a time machine. Actually, there's only three ways to add more hours to your day and I'll explain exactly how you can use all three or one of the three. It's up to you. But as I always say on the show, time is your greatest asset. You can't put a dollar amount on time. So let's try to get more of it from our day so we can get ahead, get more done and feel more satisfied at the end of the day. So let's get into it. Let's get down to business. There are three basic ways to add more hours to your day. And I'm gonna start with the one that I think we all should take a look at first, and that's to cut. To cut to cut to cut. I want you to take a look at your to do list and step back and ask yourself, why are you running your business? What are your goals? What's your primary objective? Are you trying to increase the amount of money that's coming in? Are you looking for growth, the number of customers you're bringing in? Are you looking for more profitability? Narrow down on really what you're doing, what your goal is, and take a look at your list and say, what are the things that don't directly impact those things that help me achieve those goals? I guarantee if you look at your list and be honest about it, you can cut out at least 30% of the things on that list. When I say your list, I'm talking about the things you do regularly. By cutting and culling what you actually ask yourself to do every day, you're freeing yourself up. You're actually freeing yourself up for a long period of time, for the long run. Some of us, we just take on tasks that thinking that's what we have to do in business when we don't even question it. Ask yourself, hey, do I really need to do this this frequently? Maybe I can cut it down. Maybe I don't have to do it at all. So this is the first thing you should do. Trim the fan. And you need to do this regularly, every six months or so, maybe even every three months. Ask yourself, what can you cut out from your work routine? Just stop doing entirely. We're talking about things you can stop doing entirely. The name of the game here is focus. I rather you work on three things in your business and really make an impact with those three things, really do them well than to do 10 things mediocre. They're not going to make an impact on your business. So I want you to look at your list of to dos, your to do list for this week. The things that show up on that list regularly, what are the things you can cut out and just absolutely stop doing? Sometimes you're going to have to look into the data. Sometimes you have to look how effective the things you're doing. Let's say, for example, you've been doing a YouTube channel for a year now and you really haven't gotten any results. You have to ask yourself a question, are you going to double down? Are you going to change something. Are you going to do something different or are you going to do what I'll talk about later on, giving it up to somebody else? Maybe it's time to either change what you're doing with your YouTube channel or close it down or just forget it right now because a lot of hours is being spent. Maybe you can spend half that time on something else. That's your strength. Get brutal about it and you'll save a lot of time. Number two, we talk about time as our biggest asset. It's more valuable. Our personal time is more valuable than money. So let's buy some time. And one way to buy time is to outsource, is to delegate, is to actually hire somebody to do the tasks on your list. We're gonna look at your list again and we're gonna ask ourselves, what are some things I can outsource? What are some things on this list I can farm out to somebody else? Chances are somebody else can do just as good or even better than you are. This could be admin tasks like replying to emails, social media, you know, replying to social media things or messages, scheduling, research, planning. This can all be done with an executive assistant, a virtual assistant that you can hire for. Look at the things that you can outsource. We talked about that YouTube channel. Maybe you can get somebody to run the YouTube channel for you, shoot the content and promote your YouTube channel. Because hey, that's what businesses do. As a leader of your business, your job is not to do everything. That is not your job. Repeat after me. My job as a business owner is not to do everything. Your job is to find the people who could do it for you, who could do it properly, who could do it better. You're a leader. You're a delegator. Your job is to make decisions and to put the right people in place. If you're not there yet, if you can't afford to hire a team of people, at least hire one person to that can take care of your time. Heavy tasks like admin, outsourcing is one of the best ways to free yourself up. As we grew our business at the hundred dollar MBA and webinar Ninja, we made hire after hire after hire. But at the start, Nicole and I were doing everything and we had zero time for ourselves. I remember one year we only had like two days off. I'm talking about two days, no weekends. We would work straight through the weekend. I know that sounds insane and looking back at it, it was. But as we hired every time we, we freed up a Little bit more off our plate. A little bit more off our plate. And we're able to grow the business a little bit more because we had somebody else working on something else. So as you make a hire, you're freeing yourself up, you're taking things off your plate to give yourself more time. So number two, outsource some of these tasks to somebody who could do it better. So you've done number one, you've done number two. What is left to do? Number three, tighten up the ship. Be efficient. Be productive. Get as productive as possible. Many of us can save a lot of time if we knew how to focus a little bit better. You know what I'm talking about? I'm talking about shutting off social media, shutting off all distractions. Notifications on your phone interruptions are the number one time killer. Why? Because every time you're interrupted, you're off the task, your brain shuts off and moves on to something new. Brain switching causes you a lot of energy loss as well as attention loss, and then switching back to the task you were doing is wasting a lot of time. This could be something as simple as a WhatsApp message to an email that popped up. Because you have your email open while you're working on a task, keep those things closed and set some time aside to look at your notifications and your email. Whether it's 30 minutes at the start or 30 minutes at the end of your day, or both, set that time aside to look at all your notifications, social and email. This is going to save you so much time. I want you to try it, at least for a week and you'll see what I'm talking about. What took you an hour to do is going to take you 30 minutes, maybe even less. Focus is the best tool for entrepreneurs. When you focus, you're using all your energy, all your attention to complete the task as efficiently and as fast as possible and therefore you get it done quicker. Are you disorganized? Is your desk a mess? Is it causing you to be distracted? Make sure you clear distractions. What about the killer procrastination? Are you procrastinating and browsing the web and doing other things when you're supposed to be working? Maybe you need to put a post it note of a quote that motivates you. Maybe you need to put a meme or a picture on the wall on your desk to remind you why you're doing this, why you're building this business. Maybe if you have a personal goal, like buying a home or a car or a Dream vacation. Put a picture of that. You, you gotta get focused. Whatever it takes. Whatever it takes. Nothing's cheesy here, right? You gotta get this work done and you gotta stop procrastinating. You need something to put you back on track. And if you need to put up a picture, you need to put up a quote, you need to put, you know, a screensaver. You gotta drink out of a rocky mug. Whatever it is that pumps you up, get it done so you can stay on task and stay focused and do not procrastinate. By doing these things, you are becoming an efficiency machine and you'll find yourself finishing tasks quicker. But let me tell you, it's tiring to do focused work, to do deep work. It's a lot more tiring than just kind of grazing through the day with all these interruptions. By doing focus work, you're doing things that are not comfortable to you. It's a lot of work. So you're going to be a little bit more tired, but that's okay. You'll finish your work early and you can relax, go for a walk, hit the gym, read a book. Enjoy life. Remember that. Remember life. So even if you finish early, you'll get more done and you'll have more time for yourself.

Guys, to wrap up today's episode, you really can't add more hours to the day, but you can be more efficient. You can get other people to help. You can outsource that stuff. And you can also just cut out what you're not supposed to be doing to free yourself up for more important tasks. I know this is going to sound heavy, but life is short. We don't have much time here. We don't have much time to make an impact. And time flies. I mean, I was just looking at the calendar. I can't believe we're over halfway through 2019 already. So if you don't get a handle on your time, if you don't really covet your time and see it as your biggest asset and try to gain back as much as you can and spend your time doing the right things, ideally things that only you can do and outsource the rest, then you're going to regret it and you're just not going to do as well as you could have. Because here's the secret. We're all in different circumstances where we live, our talents, our skills, our upbringing. But most of those things can be overcome, can be learned, can be gained. You can even make more money, right? But the one equalizer is time. We all have 24 hours a day. Elon Musk has 24 hours a day. A I have 24 hours a day. You have 24 hours a day. We all have the same hours. It's all about how we use them. That's how business kind of levels the playing field. How do you use your time? And that's what's going to differentiate you from your competition. Thank you so much for listening to the $100 NBA show. If you love what you hear, hit subscribe right now.
