MBA1376 3 Ways to Market Your Business with Podcasts
2 Feb 2026 · 7 min
Omar Zenhom (The $100 MBA Show) presents a short lesson on three ways to market a business using podcasts: 1) sponsor an existing podcast (targeted niche audiences, host-read ads, evergreen exposure), 2) be a guest on interview podcasts (share expertise, build brand affinity, prepare to be a great guest), and 3) start your own podcast (most resource-intensive; requires consistency and a team). The episode includes multiple commercial ad reads (Sierra, Dell, Monday.com, Capella) and emphasizes podcasting's long-term, evergreen value.

Hey oh. Welcome to the Hundred Dollar MBA Show. Powerful business tips you can't afford to miss every day with our daily 10 minute business lessons for the real world. I'm your host, your coach, your teacher Omar Zenholm. I'm also the co founder of the Hundred Dollar mba, a complete business training and community online. And in today's lesson you will learn three ways to market your business with podcasts. Full Disclosure the lesson I'm going to be delivering is something that I learned from my partner in business and life, Nicole Baldino. She delivered this talk with this title at the Click Engage Convert in Melbourne, Australia. I learned a ton from her speech and I just wanted to share it with you, share with you its insights. As you may know, Nicole is also the producer of this podcast, so she knows a little bit about a podcast has been running for five years over 1300 episodes. So if you want to use the medium of podcasting to market your business, there are several ways. You don't have to have a podcast. It's just one of the ways. There are other ways you can get exposure with the medium of podcasts, and I'll be sharing you those ways in today's episode. So let's get into it. Let's get down to business. All right, three ways to market your business with podcasts. Let's start with the easiest way, and that's to be a sponsor of a podcast. You hear our sponsors here on the show every day and they decided, hey, we want to use the power of podcasting to market our business. Now the great thing about podcasting is that there are lots of niches out there. So whatever your product or service is you're going to find podcasts with the audience that you serve, and to get in front of that audience is like gold, especially with podcasting, because podcasting sponsorship spots are read by the host and if done well, can be really, really effective. A lot more effective than a video ad or a commercial on TV. In fact, this year, 2019 is the first year that businesses have spent more money on podcasts advertising than on radio. Pretty impressive. Podcasting has taken over, and the reason why is because they know it works. The other thing about podcasting that a lot of people forget to talk about is that it's evergreen. When a podcast episode publishes with your ad on it for your business, it's there for good. People can check out that episode in the archives. They can listen now, they can listen a month from now, a year from now, and they'll hear your business, your ad. Now, some podcasts have some sort of agreement where your ad will run for eight weeks or three months, but most podcasts will let it run for as long as the show is up, which is a whole lot more than just running a live ad on the radio. Once it's aired, it's gone, and no one can listen to it again unless you pay again to air it again. Crafting a great ad with some great bullpoints, with a very clear call to action for your host to deliver it is a great way to get in front of a targeted audience. So number one is sponsoring a podcast. Number two, being a guest on an interview podcast. If you have an area of expertise, if you have written a book, if you've delivered a course, if you have some success in your business and can share your success, your story with others, or even some of your failures. There's tons of podcasts out there that are looking for you. Most podcasts are interview podcasts, unlike this show, so they need interviews to survive. Now, obviously this is not an advertisement of your business, but people learn about your business, learn about your story, and they build some sort of brand identity, a brand affinity, and get connected to the person behind the business. I find that being a guest on a podcast is great. I try to do as often as possible. I try to be on three or four podcasts a month because I'm connecting directly with a target audience. You want to make sure you're the best episode that podcast has ever had. So make sure you prepare before you get on the show. All right? The third way to market your business with podcasting is to start your own. Now, this is the third one, and the Most challenging because it takes commitment to do a podcast. Even if the podcast is weekly, which most podcasts are weekly, you need to be consistent, you need to batch, you need to get ahead, you need to make sure the production quality is good and you need to make sure that you're delivering great value week in, week out, regardless of your format. This is going to be your challenge and you should have somebody dedicated to the podcast if you're going to do this. I mean, it takes a team, really. You know, Nicole's the producer of this podcast, I'm the host, we have the sound and editing engineer, Carl, we have our content writer, Connor, who does our show notes and our social posts. So it takes a team to really pull off a great podcast. But if you're just getting started, you definitely have at least one person dedicated and then you can build out. And of course, this is, if it's a weekly show, this is a daily podcast. So we need a team to make this happen. But having your own podcast, it's like having your own show, having your own voice, your own channel. One of the reasons why the Kardashians are so popular and so successful is because they have their own show, they have their own channel, they have their own way to kind of market themselves and talk about who they are. Now, obviously your podcast should not be a pitch festival. It should be great value, but people will enjoy that value, will appreciate that value, and you'll be top of mind when they're looking for your products and services. Podcasting is definitely a long play. It's a long term game. The 1300 plus episodes that we've recorded for this podcast is in our archives. Not going anywhere. It's there to serve us for the rest of our business's life.
