MBA1514 Why Now Is The Best Time to Create More Content
2 Feb 2026 · 13 min
Podcast episode by Omar Zenhom (The $100 MBA) arguing that the COVID-era is an ideal moment to produce more content. Core claims: (1) people have more time to consume content; (2) a "gold rush" of new creators is imminent, so early movers should build SEO/content now; (3) production costs are very low (basic equipment <$200). Practical guidance: publish one piece/week (52/yr), batch production to get ahead, choose a medium you can sustain, schedule production on the calendar (do it early in the week), avoid perfectionism ("Winning equals publishing"), and spend 15–20 minutes/week batching social sharing using tools like Buffer or MeetEdgar. The episode is interleaved with multiple ad reads (Dell, USAA, Metro, McDonald’s) and closes with a CTA to subscribe and a promise of future episodes.

Hey O welcome to the $100 RMBA show Power to the Business people every day with their daily 10 minute business less world. I'm your host, your coach, your teacher Omar Zenholm. I'm also the co founder of the Hundred Dollar mba, a complete business training and community online and in today's episode you will learn why now is the best time to create more content. Whether you blog, create videos, podcasts, create infographics, tweet, whatever it is, now's the time to create more valuable content. There are so many reasons why, but today we're going to focus on the three most important reasons why and how to get started. If you've been wanting to generate more valuable content to drive more traffic to your website, to your business, to your brand, you're going to learn how today. And I'm going to encourage you to get started today because it's a fantastic time. With everything that's going on with lockdown and the new normal, with everything that's happened with COVID So I want to make sure that you have a game plan, but understand why it's important to get started now. So let's get into it. Let's get down to business. There are three big reasons why now is the best time to create more content for your business. Number one, generally people have more time. Not only do you have more time to create the content, so you have absolutely no excuse anymore, but more importantly, people have more time to consume content. They are looking for blog posts, they're looking for videos, they're searching on Google. And this is a good time to get people aware of your business now and for the future. People are not commuting anymore. People are not going out to dinner. They're not running errands, they're not going to the gym, they're not going to yoga. They got all this auxiliary time on their hands that you can be a part of that you can get in front of. And it doesn't seem like things will be changing anytime soon or for the rest of the year. So you have some time to really utilize this opportunity. The second reason why now is the best time to create more content is that a gold rush is coming. Many people don't know this, but many people have not yet started to try to make money online, to earn an income, to be a freelancer, to start their brand. Okay, the vast majority of people have not done this, but this is going to be a viable option for many people. In this new normal. Many people are going to start saying, hey, you know what, I'm going to start blogging. I'm going to start writing some things up and creating some videos, get into affiliate marketing, maybe sell my own products. This is going to become more and more a viable option for more people because they're at home, because they understand that the economy can change and I need to rely on myself. I need to build something for myself and I can't rely on my job. And people kind of knew this before, but now it's a reality. People know it's a fact. And as this pandemic keeps going on, the more and more people are going to get into the online space game. It's going to get incredibly competitive. So you want to make sure you get your content and build your SEO and build your content marketing now while it's relatively quiet. If you think it's busy now online, wait until six months from now, a year from now, two years from now. People are not going to forget and things will not change like a light switch. Okay? This is something that's going to affect our economy and the way we live and earn money from for the long run. So get in now and build that content empire. The third reason why you should be producing content right now is that it couldn't be any cheaper. It is so inexpensive to basically build your own media company, Whether it's blogging or creating videos or podcasting or whatever it is. If you'd like to write, blogging is near $0. To get started and to be part of the media, get yourself a nice camera and a nice mic. Under 200 bucks and you have a home studio to do podcasting, to do videos. It's so incredibly cheap and the barrier to entry so low right now. It's not always going to be this way. Relatively speaking, the Internet is still in its early days. It's still the wild West. There's no gatekeepers. It's not going to stay like this forever. So you want to make sure you establish your brand and build your content. Now, how do you get started? Well, it's very simple. You do, you get started. So how do you do that? Well, you put yourself on a publishing schedule. And I'm not somebody who likes extremes. I like you to start slow and steady and consistent. I'm not going to demand too much of you, but I'm going to demand that you stay consistent. So you're going to produce one piece of content a week. Every month you'll have four. Every year you'll have 52. Pretty, pretty simple. Okay. But you have to stick to the publishing schedule. Whatever you do, if you stick to blogging a blog post a week, whether It's a podcast, one episode a week, or a video a week for YouTube or whatever you're doing, you gotta be consistent. And one of the things I recommend is in your first two weeks is to batch a little bit. So maybe do double time, do two blog posts or two videos a week. So you have four at the end of two weeks. That means you're two weeks ahead. You're not going to release them at the same time, but you're going to release them week by week. But at least you have some leeway so you don't feel the pressure of publishing the next day. So you're going to batch a little bit so you have a little bit of leeway, a little wiggle room. Pick a medium that you actually enjoy the most. If you like to write, then blog. If you don't like to write, choose something else. Podcasting videos, a YouTube channel you like to draw. How about create some infographics or some illustrations based on a topic? You could do it. Something as simple as a daily vlog off your phone. The point here is that you're gonna choose the content that you can produce on a consistent basis. Cause it's not as painful as any other way of producing content. You're comfortable with it. It's something that you can tolerate, something that you could do on a consistent basis, even if you're not totally in love with it. It's something that you somewhat enjoy, something that you can do. Put it in your calendar. When are you going to produce this content? When are you going to write this blog post? When are you going to shoot this video? What time? What day? Put it in there. And when time comes, when it's on your calendar, you do it. That's that simple. This is exactly what I do for this podcast. A word of warning, you will get attacked by a demon called perfection. Okay? It's not going to be perfect. It's not going to be flawless. So stop trying to make it perfect or flawless. Winning is not perfection. Winning is publishing. Getting it out there in the world and sticking to your commitment of once a week. So whatever it takes to do that, you're going to do that. Not every blog post, not every video, not every podcast episode is going to be a masterpiece. But you're going to try your best and you're going to stick to the commitment. The commitment is more important. The repetition is more important. It's going to make you better and better. It's going to make you closer to being a master than actually that one piece being exactly the way it should be. We're trying to get you reps, we're trying to get you into this content marketing machine. So the consistency is the priority. So let's make that key and let's make sure that we have it on our wall. Winning equals publishing, okay? Not perfection. Next. Make sure you prioritize in your calendar when you do this. Don't do it at the end of the day on Friday when you have no energy, where you're more likely to slack off. Do it first thing on Monday if that's when you have the most energy and you're most enthusiastic about getting things out there. If you find this to be a challenge, a difficult thing to do every week, do it as early as possible in the week so you can get it done with. Get it done with. If it's hard for you, just come to terms. Hey, this is hard. I don't like it too much, but I know it's important. I got to do, I got to learn how to love it. And I'm going to just get it done as soon as possible. Get it done with. There's nothing wrong with confronting something like that and saying it like it is. Again, the goal here is to actually publish, to get it out there. If you can hire some help to help you get this done, great. If you can't, that's okay too. But know that there's an option. You can hire somebody part time, freelance by the hour, an editor to proofread your writing or to clean it up, a video editor, a podcast editor or some sort of producer, somebody that can help you make it happen. If you can can afford to get that, then it's well worth the investment because again, it's going to allow you to accomplish that goal of publishing consistently. Gas snacks tolls this trip is draining my wallet.

To wrap up today's episode. It's great that you're getting started and creating content consistently, but one more thing. Set aside 15, 20 minutes a week and batch sharing this new content with your audience. One easy way to do this is to sign up for a software like Buffer, which is like $10 a month and it allows you to simply pre schedule all your tweets, all your Facebook Messages, all your LinkedIn messages in advance for the full week or for the full month or full year if you wanted to. And just batch it so you can sit there 20 minutes and knock out all the tweets and all the messages and all the social posts you want to have. Go out for the whole week and share that great content you created. There's another great tool called meetedgar. You want to check that out as well. It might suit your needs better, but those are two options for you, Buffer and meetedgar. Thank you so much for checking out today's episode, for listening, for getting into today's content.
