2 Feb 2026 · 9 min
Omar Zenhom answers whether a solo founder with an EA needs an About page. Yes: it builds trust, works as a founder's letter with your photo, helps with SEO and PR, and can capture email signups. You can mention your EA too.

I'm your host, your coach, your teacher Omar Zenholm. I'm also the co founder of the Hundred Dollar mba, a complete business training and community online and today's episode is a Q and a Wednesday episode. On our Q and A Wednesday episodes, I answer a question from one of you, one of our listeners. If you have a question you want to ask, just email me over at omar@100mba.net Today's question is from Will and Will Asks. I'm creating my company's first website. Do I need an about page if it's just me and my executive assistant? Would that look lame if I do? I guess I kind of want to look bigger than I am. Love the show. Thanks for answering my question on Q and A Wednesday, Will. Solid question, Will. And congratulations on launching your business's website. You're working on it. Good stuff. And I totally understand your apprehension to putting up an about page. If your team is really small, it's just you and your executive assistant. Depending on the type of business. Maybe you're a consulting firm, maybe you're a designer or developer. You want to look kind of legit and you're like if it's just me and my EA on the about page, it might just look like we're not good enough for the big businesses. Now, having said that, I'm a big believer in an about page, no matter how big or small your business is. But I understand your concern. So we're gonna address it. We're gonna make sure that we build a great looking about page that serves its purpose without you worrying about those fears that you have. Believe it or not, statistically your about page is the second highest trafficking page on any website after your homepage. So people wanna know what you're all about and if you don't give them that information, they're only left with their assumptions. So let's make sure we put something that makes sense for you and your business and your brand and put together a brilliant about page, no matter what size business you have. So let's get into it. Let's get down to business. If you're anything like me, I always want to know what is this company all about? When I'm looking at a new product, a new service, and I go straight for the about page look in the header or the footer. And I'm not really interested too much about how many people are on the team. I'm more interested on what the team stands for, what they're all about. So if you have a small team, you could still do that and really fulfill the need of a lot of visitors that want to understand what you're all about. Now, when I got started early on in my entrepreneurial career, my about page was very short. But I had one. And I'm going to explain to you what I did. I literally use my about page as a letter from the desk of the founder. I really just wrote down why I started this company, what we believe in and why we're different from the competition. And it literally has my name and I sign it at the bottom. It has my like graphical signature, one that I just made on Photoshop and just inserted it. It was about four paragraphs long. And I focused on really just telling the story of why I started this business, why I do what I do and how we do it differently from the competition. I put my photo at the bottom of it and this is on purpose. People don't like businesses that hide behind a website. I personally don't like to do business with any business. If I get that feeling like they're trying to hide something, especially if I never heard of them before, I need to see an about page. I need to know, even if it's just one person and they say, hey, I started this company because 1, 2, 3, and I have a picture and there's a face to the name, okay, I can trust this person. This person's not running away from me. I can Google them, I can find them out on LinkedIn. They're real, okay? If I'm going to give them my money, I know that I'm giving it to somebody and there's a good chance I'm going to get some value. This is why about pages are so important. It's about building trust. It's about building trust with your potential customer. So if they go to your about page and they feel like they can trust you more after they've been there than before they went to your about page, then it's done its job. That's really what the about page is about. Now, of course, if your company grows and you want to start adding some team members to your about page, that's awesome. You can always build upon your about page, but at the very least, you could start with a letter from the desk of the founder. It's also been reported from Google that websites that have about pages will get preferential treatment when it comes to ranking. It's more of a legitimate website if there's an about page. So again, it's a trust signal. And again, it's your choice of how front and center you want the about page to be. It could be in your header navigation, right at the top of your website, or. Or it could be in the footer where if somebody's looking for it, they can find. It doesn't have to be front and center. But I do want to say, Will, that you should be super proud of yourself. You're starting something for yourself. You're building something useful for people. You're going to be helping your clients. And I want you to start showing that you're proud through your website with your about page. You want to include your EA in there too? Awesome. Personally, as a business owner, I will hire a firm or do business with a firm that displays their face, that shows the founder and even their EA on the about page too. Over a faceless, nameless firm where I don't know what I'm getting or who I'm getting. At least with you, I know that I'm getting Will. And this is what Will's looks like. And this is what he believes in, this is what his story is. And if that resonates with me, I'm more likely to do business as Will. Than a faceless, nameless name of a business. About Pages Also good places for you to allow people to contact you for pr. At the bottom of your about page, say if you'd like to interview the founder of this company. If you'd like to interview me or you want to have me at your local event, have me on your podcast, whatever it is, here's an email. Here's a contact form. Journalists that are looking for stories, they're going to go to the about page to find this information to learn about you. And then if there's a way to contact you right there, it's an easy way for them to just continue to go down that road and use you in their piece. Many people even use their about page as an opt in page, so at the bottom of the page they'll say, hey, opt into our newsletter or opt in for updates about what's going on with our company. A lot of people do this because this page gets so much traffic. You might as well capitalize on that and make sure hey, let me offer them a way to join my newsletter and I can grow my email list and and serve them with great content.

Dang it.

It feels good to save big it feels good to Geico to wrap up today's Q and A Wednesday's question from Will Should I have an about page? Even though it's just me or my EA getting started? Definitely will. At the very least, share your story. Why you started this company. What makes you different? Signing off, Put your picture there. It's a great way to really show off why you started this business and show that you're proud of what you built. If you're looking for an example, you can head on over to webinarninja.com on the homepage I have an example of this at the bottom of the page. It's not on the about page because I have the team on the about page, but a letter like that is something that you could start with on your about page.
