But you know you need to build relationships to build a great company. How do you pull this off? Well, in today's episode I'm going to give you some great tips. You do not need to be the life of the party to have a great, great network. Let me show you how. Let's get into it. Let's get down to business.

Many introverted entrepreneurs just find it hard to socialize, to network, to get to know people, because they just simply find it exhausting. They know it's important, but they just don't do it because it's just too much work. So in today's episode, I'm going to give you some quick tips to network like a boss if you're an introvert, Tip number one the Internet is your friend. The most introverted entrepreneurs that I know personally are actually very social. On social media, on forums, in groups, on Reddit. Socializing online is not the same as in person. So you can definitely take advantage of this and build your network and become a great connector online. Make an effort to start a Facebook group in your area of expertise and bring people together. Build your following on social if that's your thing, because it's a whole lot easier than doing it in person. Be a part of a group or a forum or some sort of network online. You don't even need to get started. As long as you're helpful and useful. You will become a tastemaker. You will meet people, you will get to know people, you'll connect with them, you'll get their contact, you'll do business with them. I find that a lot of introverts find it so much easier to do all that networking when it's online. I'm the opposite. I actually prefer to meet people in person and get to know them and that's my comfort zone. But I wouldn't classify myself as an introvert. I'm more of an extrovert. Next, one of the best ways to build relationships in person, in real life is just to go to as many events as possible. Now when I say that to an introvert, sometimes you're like, oh man, I gotta go meet People in small talk and come up with conversation. No, do not put all that pressure on yourself. Your job is just to show up, is to be there, is to, you know, listen to the lectures or the talks, have a slice of pizza, have a drink. If you happen to meet people, if you happen to have conversation, if people ask you how you're doing or who you are, that's great. Just go with the flow, don't force it. But if you go to enough meetups and enough events, you will meet people regardless of how introverted you are. It's just the law of averages. So fill your calendar with many events in your area. And guess what? You'll meet other introverts just like you next. One of the easiest ways to build a network and build relationships in business is to just join a co working space. Co working spaces are opening back up with COVID restrictions lifting in different areas around the world. Just showing up to an office every day will allow you to meet and get to know a good number of people. A lot of these coworking spaces have hundreds of people working there. And you're going to meet people just by accident in the kitchen when you're making coffee, or people that work beside you at your desk, or when you're eating your lunch. The point here is that if you put yourself in the position to meet people, it's just going to happen organically. You don't need to force it. And by going to somewhere even a few times a week, you don't even have to go every day, you're allowing those opportunities to happen. Even if you're introverted, you don't need to make the first move. You don't need to have some sort of elevator pitch memorized. You just need to show up. Next. Tip one on one lunches. I've been doing this for about two years now and I've been doing this just so I can have deeper relationships with the entrepreneurs around me that I want to get to know. But this is a great technique for introverts that don't like big crowds and are much better at one on one. And what I do is I just basically look at all people that maybe are friends with me on Facebook or I've met once or twice at an event and I have their contact and I just reach out to them randomly and say, hey, let's do lunch this Friday, let's grab a coffee. And I usually just ask them the day before. Why? Because you are more likely to get a yes. Because people can look at their calendar, say, yep, I can do it. And planning ahead is just a little bit of a pain. And what's great is that you're just having a quick one hour meeting. You're getting to know each other. It's coffee, it's a meal. You have to eat anyway. And if you do this every Friday, you're making deeper, more frequent connections with people every single week. By the end of the year, you have 52 connections. And what I found is that when I go to lunch with the person that I want to get to know, they find it kind of impressive. Like, wow, I like this. You asked me out for lunch. It's pretty cool. We're getting to know each other. No one ever does this. And whatever happens, it's an hour, it'll be over and you can go back to whatever you're doing next. Tip. If you can speak at a event, a meetup, a conference, this is going to help you big time. If you're comfortable talking about your subject matter on stage, this is really going to propel your networking ability. Why? Because as soon as you get off stage, people will come to you and say things like, hey, I like what you said about so and so. And it's a conversation starter. People will want to get to know you because by default, you're interesting. You were on stage, you spoke about something. I find that when I go to an event and I speak on stage, I get to know so many more people. I also get a chance to get to know the other speakers and it's very natural and it's not intimidating because we're all kind of speaking at the event. Often the event organizers will have some sort of networking party for the speakers or dinner. Putting yourself in those positions makes it easier for you to meet people and for them to approach you instead of you having to approach them.

To wrap up today's lesson, just because you're introverted doesn't mean that you can't network. You can build relationships, deep, meaningful ones, ones that will materialize and turn into business opportunities and relationships that you can lean on in times of need in your business and in life. You just have to put yourself in those positions. Like I mentioned, even if you implement one or two of today's tips, it's going to help you in the long run tremendously. Nobody builds a business alone. It takes a community. It takes a good network. It takes great people. I can't tell you how much I've leaned on my network over the last decade, building my businesses. It's helped me in so many ways. Thanks so much for listening to the Hunter MBA show, but today's episode's not over. It's Free Ride Friday. Let's see who won this week's Free Ride today. One of my favorite things about networking and getting to know people and building your network is learning that you're not alone in this journey of entrepreneurship. Your struggles are not that special. Everybody has the same experiences, have the same struggles, have the same doubts and fears. It makes you feel less like a weirdo and more like you're on the same path that these struggles are a rite of passage. Thanks so much for listening and I'll check you in Monday's episode. I'll see you then. Take care.
