Hey O welcome to the Hunter RMBA Show. Powerful Business lessons delivered on the daily every single day with our daily 10 minute business lessons for the real world. I'm your host, your coach, your teacher Omar Zenholm. I'm also the co founder of Webinar Ninja, an independent software company I started back in 2014 with my business partner. In today's episode, you will learn how to make any goal easier to achieve. Whether it's a personal goal to get in shape, read more books or a professional goal of building a seven or eight figure business, there's one thing that you can do that can greatly increase your chances of achieving that goal. This is something I have tried personally and seen incredible results and I want to share with you what that one thing is. But let me tell you off the bat, it's going to take a little bit of time to implement this one thing, but boy is it worth it. It will skyrocket your progress in achieving that goal. There are so many forces out there that are stopping us from achieving success. Circumstances, competition, the economy, our own personal drive. It's time for us to get a clear advantage and make things so much easier. Let's get into it. Let's get down to business.

I'm the kind of person that likes to set goals and achieve them. And as soon as I achieve one goal, I set the next. This allows me to feel like I'm getting better, that I'm improving in life, and it gives me the confidence that I can achieve things that I set out to do. But the bigger the goal, the harder it is to achieve and the more challenging it is to do it by yourself. Sometimes we just get stuck. We don't know what to do, we don't see progress. So today I'm going to give you one big hack that's going to unlock a lot of ease in achieving goals and achieving what you want in your business and and in life. So here it is. If you want to achieve any goal, one of the best ways to make it easier on you to get there faster is to find people that have achieved that goal at a high level and spend as much time as possible with them. I know this sounds simple, but just the mere fact that you're around these people, that you spend time with them, it's going to help you tremendously in achieving your goal. Let me give you an example. Nicole and I wanted to start waking up early. We wanted to achieve more in our day and have more time for ourselves to kind of set up for success. Normally we would get up around 6:37. Now we wanted to change that to 4:35 o'. Clock. But that's not easy to do, to break a habit that you've been in all your life on your own. So we read the Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod and we purposely actually started to seek out other people that wake up early, figure out who they are, spend time with them, be their friends. And the thing about that is now waking up early is normal. It's like when you hang around with people that do a certain thing, that certain thing is the standard. You are strange for not doing that. And that one little insight really helped us tremendously. Now this is just a daily habit, but this could work with any goal. Say for example, you want to get in shape, you haven't exercised consistently in years. My first recommendation to you is actually to make friends that do exercise consistently. Even if you don't exercise together, if you are friends with somebody that has gone for a run every single morning for the last five years, their habits, their discipline, it's going to rub off you. That becomes the new normal. When your circle, the people that you see and speak to and hang out with every day, do a certain thing, they all do it. And even if this means forcing yourself to make new friends and spending most of your time with those new friends, even if this is just for a couple of months, it will impact your ability to achieve this goal. I learned this concept from John Levy, who was a guest teacher last week on the podcast, and he talks about this in his TED Talk about just hanging around with the right people. And what I mean by right is that the people are right for you. People that are doing the things that you want to achieve. They will influence you without you even noticing. So let's bring this back to business. Say, for example, you want to build a successful software company, a company that's seven, eight figures. Maybe you're just getting started. That's okay. Be around people that have done it already. They don't need to be famous. They don't need to be, you know, Instagram famous. They just need to be the people that have achieved your goal and have done and do the things that get to that goal. That becomes normal. Once you spend time with these people, even if this is just one or two people, and even in the meantime, until you seek out and find these people and spend time with them, you still can spend time with people that have done this via YouTube videos, via autobiographies, via founder stories, on podcasts. If you surround yourself with these stories with these people, your mind starts understanding that, hey, these things that lead to the success, this is normal. This is not something that is strange or extraordinary. And you start to believe that you need to do this too. And you can do this because it's what becomes normal for you. Now, I did this when I started my software company, Webinar Ninja. I started to befriend a lot of software founders purposely. I knew that I needed to get into this circle and get to know people that have done what I want to achieve. I was lucky enough to become friends with Noah Kagan, founder of Sumo.com, and Chris Savage from Wistia.com and Patrick Campbell from ProfitWell and Nathan Barry from ConvertKit. So just being friends with these people, spending time talking to them, getting on video calls, meeting them in conferences, pre Covid and hopefully post Covid, having dinners with them. Just being around them and being around their stories and their work allows me to slowly become my own version of their success. Now, of course you still have to work hard and make right decisions and there is some work involved, but what you're doing here is you're just making things a little bit easier for yourself. You are going to gain insights by just being around people that have done what you want to do. You're going to build new habits. You're going to start implementing different strategies. You're going to open your mind up on what's possible because you didn't know it was possible because you didn't meet these people before you didn't know them. This is what I've learned. Now I want to give you an easy stepping stone exercise for you to start practicing this. You can go ahead and jump two feet in and try this with whatever goal you want to achieve. Or you can even just get started with a mini goal. For example, a few years back I wanted to learn how to snowboard. I just went all in on getting to know other people that snowboarded. I made friends that snowboarded. I got into the culture. I watched a whole bunch of YouTube channels on snowboarding. I took lessons. I went on a trip, a snowboarding trip with people I did not know. It was just one of those like group trips with a tour company with the intention, hey, I'm going to go and meet a bunch of snowboarders. I'm going to probably be not as good as them, but I'm going to immerse myself with other people that are where I want to be in snowboarding. And because of that I was able to learn and pick up snowboarding so much faster. The people I met gave me some great insights and tips that unlocked a whole bunch of things for me. And I got to meet some really cool people that have similar interests. One which is snowboarding. So you can try this even with something that's personal or fun or a hobby. See it work, and then use it on other big goals in your life.

To wrap up today's lesson, I highly recommend that you make the effort in getting to know and surrounding yourself with people that are where you want to be in whatever goal you set out. This means signing up for meetups, signing up for webinars or virtual events online. This requires effort. This requires you to put yourself out there and be a beginner and be vulnerable. This might require you asking for introductions from friends of friends or doing things that are totally out of your comfort zone. Like what I did when I just jumped on a tour bus with a bunch of snowboarders that I never knew. Strangers, right? But those strangers became my friends and accelerated my progress in snowboarding. We've all heard at some point Jim Rohn's quote, We are the average of the five people we spend the most time with. And you could take that information and say, oh, that's a cool quote. Or you could take it to heart and try it out. Work on spending as much time as possible with the people that are where you want to be. That includes, like I mentioned, books, videos, courses, webinars. Make each of those one of your five. Thanks so much for listening and I'll check you in tomorrow's episode. I'll see you then. Take care. Hey, Fidelity.
