We announce this week's winner a little bit later in today's episode. In today's lesson, you will learn why 2022 is the year to hire great talent. According to the Harvard Business Review, across all sectors, nearly 10% of all employees are going to be looking for a new job. Yep, you've heard about the Great Resignation where everybody is looking for flexibility, looking for a change. And this is prime time for you as a business owner to find incredible talent. And listen, I'm practicing what I'm preaching. We have at least four positions that we're going to be hiring for in just quarter one. Why? Well, I know that right now is a great time to find people that you'd normally not have access to to join your team. Great, talented, experienced people that are looking for a new challenge. You need to capitalize in this moment in time. And I'll even share with you how you can start this process even if right now you can't afford to hire somebody full time. So let's get into it. Let's get down to business.
Dear McDonald's, your breakfast menu fire tens across the board. I could be happy with anything even though I ordered the same thing every time. Thanks for not judging me. I'll try something new next time.

One of the things I want to start with is talk a little bit about why is this happening right now? Why is the great resignation even a thing? Well, the pandemic actually highlighted something very important in people's lives. That work is actually a central part of their lives. They spent of time working. People realize this when they started working from home. People realized this even more when things started to go back to normal and companies wanted them to go back into the office or go back to the old way of working. People started to evaluate, hey, I spend eight to ten wakeful hours every day working for a company. This is how I spend most of my life. Maybe I should be a little picky about this. Maybe I should find something that I'm interested in, something I'm passionate in, something that really fulfills me. On top of that, people want a little bit more than just a paycheck. They want flexibility. People are not so in love with the corner office or the snacks in the break room anymore. They realize those perks really don't matter as much as having a little bit of flexibility in terms of where I work, how I work, when I work, and if you're a small business owner, if you're an online business owner, you have all of these capabilities provide these types of quote unquote perks. One of the things that we offer our team members over at Webinar Ninja is a lot of flexibility. We're not all over them when it comes to what they have to do every single day now Some positions are a little bit different. Customer support, where they have to be on shift to answer support tickets. But even in positions like that, they get plenty of days off holidays, flexibility when taking those holidays, local holidays to their local country, professional development days, training retreats. And of course, a flexible shift that can change for their needs. Say, for example, they just had a baby and they need some time. Of course we have some maternity to leave. But of course, beyond that, they may want to change their shift so that they can work when the baby's sleeping. This is totally, totally fluid in our company because we understand the value of our employees is beyond the hours they put in. It's the work they actually put in. It's how they contribute. It's the impact they make on our customer. Now, as a small business owner, I want to remind you of something we most people that are highly qualified, that can do a great job for you, they have pretty boring lives. They have pretty boring jobs. Now, one thing I want to remind you of as a small business owner is that sometimes you forget most people that are talented, that have great experience, they work for businesses, corporations, large businesses that are frankly just boring. They're working on boring projects, things that move very slowly. It takes them years to finish a project. It takes a thousand approvals, and they have to include so many voices, a lot of red tape, a lot of bureaucracy. Your advantage as a small business is that you move fast. People have autonomy. People can make decisions on their own. You start and launch projects and products on a monthly basis. This is exciting for people. People want something that's fresh, that's new, that enriches their lives, that makes them feel significant, that they're contributing to the world in a significant way. This is not the norm, okay? But a lot of us, we forget that because we're in our own little bubble. So 2022, definitely be the year for you to start looking for great talent. Now, my first tip to you is to attract great talent. You have to attract them with a great job description. Not only do you have to sell the job to them, like, hey, this is a fun and exciting job. These are the things you're going to get to be responsible for. These are the things you're going to be working on, but also how cool it is to work for your company. What is it like to work in your company? What kind of fun do you guys have? What kind of vibe is your culture, your company culture? These are the things you want to include in your about page, in your jobs page. If you want to Take a perusal over some of our job descriptions in our jobs page. Head on over to webinarnasia.com jobs and you can check out all our positions that are open as well as like how we craft our message to attract people that are a good fit for us. This is who we are. If you resonate with this, then you'll love working here. When you get on a call, when you do a job interview and you see somebody, you really would love to have them join the team. The best way for you to attract them is to tell them what life is like to work for you, to work in your company. And one of the easiest ways to do this is just to share with them. Hey, this is what we did in this last month, right? Last month we worked on this project. This is what it involved. This is what all the different departments did. We launched on this day and this was the reception from our customers. This is what some of the people said. This is exciting for people that are joining a team. They're like, wow, wow. These people create cool things. They work as a team, they celebrate their wins and the customers love what they have. Having a product that people love is not that common. People actually think this is super cool and super attractive and it will definitely get them interested or at least put you on the short list of places that they want to work for. One of the things we like to ask in our interviews is a little bit about their home life. Because many of our team members, they work from home. They could choose to work at a coworking space or their own personal office if they like. But you can work from anywhere. We have people on our team that are digital nomads that travel every three months, even through Covid. Well, I like to get to know a little bit more about their family. Do they have kids, they have pets, do they work from home, what their hobbies are, what they enjoy doing? Because more often than not, I can relate to that and I can share with them. Hey, that's great. You like to kite surf. One of our team members kitesurfs as well. He actually traveled to Indonesia so that he can catch some amazing waves last year. What this tells the new candidate is, hey, this is cool. This place has interesting people, like minded people that don't have to sacrifice their life to work there. Next I know a lot of you might be thinking, how am I going to compete with big time salaries? They might be coming from a higher salary from another corporation or other benefits like medical or other kinds of perks. One of the best Ways to compete is just to be honest and say, hey, this is where we're at in our business. This is our budget for this position. And by the way, when people sign up for a job, they're not signing up just based on salary. Some people are willing to take a pay cut, they're willing to get paid less to get more time, to get more flexibility to get a promotion. Right? To get a higher position. Giving somebody a senior title doesn't cost you anything. Okay? And if you're a young company, probably need people in those positions anyway. For them it's a big deal. It gives them a chance to have experience in a position that has more responsibility that they normally would not get in the corporate structure or ladder. So think of the job and what you offer as a holistic thing, not just money. Many people are going to be coming to you from companies you can recognize, brands, you know, because of this great resignation, you're going to get industry experts really, you're going to get people that know the best practices in these different companies and can basically infuse your company with some great ideas. So it's actually really, really important for you to try to hire. Why you can. Why this great resignation is just starting out because not only are you getting the great talent, you're getting great information, you're getting great practices that you can adapt in your own company and start becoming more and more a world class company. Now you might be thinking, Omar, I just can't afford even one full time hire right now. Well, my answer to you is that's okay. Start with a part time hire. There are plenty of people that are looking for a side gig that are in great positions in great companies right now, but they're just looking to tickle their creative juices. They want something fresh, they want a startup, they want something that can really get their ideas flowing and they can contribute in a greater fashion. They might be in a little bit of a box where they are right now and they just need something part time to scratch that itch. I'm speaking out of experience here. We hired many of our now full time employees first as part time freelancers. People that came in and added value that helped us with a project that contributed with a just clean, fresh mind, a different perspective. And as we grew, we said, hey, we can now make you full time. Would you like to jump and be part of our team full time? And if they love the work they do and the culture you've built, that's a great way to get somebody through the door. Full time by hiring them first part time and it could be 10, 20 hours a week. Heck, our CTO Taylor Doncic first joined us five years ago as a freelancer and now of course he's with us full time long term. But that transition was super smooth because he believed in the product and and knew what he was getting into. He was totally bought in so it was easy for him to let go of that corporate life and move into our startup world.
Okay, does this happen to anybody else? You sit down with a juicy QPC, some McNuggets and those golden fries from McDonald's. Then you take a long sip of your Sprite because you can still hear your mama saying don't fill up on that drink before you eat your food. But you're grown now so you do what you want.
Share and share alike with the 20 piece McNuggets from McDonald's for just $6 limited time only. Price and participation may vary. Cannot be combined with any other offer.
To wrap up today's lesson, I encourage you to take a look at your company. Can you make one great hire? Can you make two? Three, four? Try to get as many as you can to add value to your company and in the first quarter of 2022 this is a great time to find great talent. I highly recommend if you're on a tight budget and you only can make up one or two hires to make hires that can make you money, people that will build your product, that people that will sell your product, that will market your product, people that will directly impact revenue. That way it's seen as a short term and long term investment meaning you're going to get a return on your investment very quickly. Also, like I always say, try to make one of your first hires if you haven't hired anybody yet, somebody that's going to take off your plate time intensive tasks, an assistant, a virtual assistant. Somebody that can really take away all those time consuming duties you have on your plate every day and free you up to manage and bring in the big bucks.
