Hey oh. Welcome to the Hunter RMBA Show. Build your business with us every single day with our daily 10 minute business lessons for the real world. I'm your host, your coach, your teacher Omar is at home. I'm also the co founder of Webinar Ninja, an independent software company I started with my co founder back in 2014 and in today's episode you will learn the five elements of an impactful online course. I've been building, running, launching, teaching online courses for almost 15 years now. Also actually a trained and certified teacher. I was a high school and university teacher for over 13 years and taught hundreds of students in the classroom. So I know a little bit about how to deliver a great course. Your goal for an online course is to get your students results. At the end of the day, if you get them a result, if you get them a win, you win because they are able to give you a glowing testimonial. They're going to tell their friends and family. They're going to tell other people. You're going to have viral marketing. It's going to be dead simple for you to sell your course moving forward. So your goal for every online course you create is to make sure every student can do what it promises, whatever the title of the course is. And in today's lesson I'm going to break down what are the five things you need to do to get to that result. May want to take some notes or at least some mental notes during today's lesson. So let's get into it. Let's get down to business.

Best WI Fi based on Open Signal Awards USA Fixed Broadband Experience Report May 2025 so we have five elements that make up a successful online course that gets your students results. Let's start with number one, and that's thorough instruction. I can't tell you how many courses I've taken online where I'm scratching my head, where the instructor will just keep moving forward without fully explaining how to do something. When you're a trained teacher, one of the things you learn is outcome driven teaching. This means everything you teach from every lesson to every module, from every video, you should explain in this video your outcome is going to be this. And you need to explain thoroughly how to get to that outcome. And a good way to test this is to reverse engineer it. Say, where do you want them to go by the end of this lesson? What do you want them to be able to do? So, for example, I teach a course called the Automated Webinar Challenge. One of my lessons is customizing your registration page to fit your brand and to sell the actual automated webinar using great copy. So the outcome I'm looking to achieve for my students on this just particular lesson is for them to create their own registration page with their branding that has compelling copy. So if I watch my video and I am not able to confidently say I show them exactly how to do that, then I failed on that lesson. Okay, this is where teachers and course creators kind of fall short. They don't give all the steps, all the information needed to get to the outcome. You have to remember when you're teaching any group of people in person online, whatever you need to teach as if everybody's a beginner. Okay? Because if you teach to the most basic beginner in your group, the worst thing is that the more advanced people will just get the fundamentals explained to Them again. And in my experience, most people that are taking a course are not experts, okay? They're not advanced and they need hand holding. They need beginner instruction. So don't fast forward through things. Explain things thoroughly. Make sure that whatever your outcomes are for each lesson, for the entire course, that you actually explain how to do that. So, number one, thorough instruction. Number two, accountability. Why we get things done in life is because we have to. That's the bottom line. We go to work and earn an income because we have to pay our bills. Think about when you were in grade school, when you were in high school, why did you do your homework? Why don't you just not do your homework? Why did you show up to class? Why did you take the quizzes? Why did you take the tests? Because the teachers and the organization, the school held you accountable. You knew that when you showed up the next day, the teacher's going to ask you, hey, show me your homework. So that alone at least made you make the effort to at least try doing your homework. Because you knew accountability was just around the corner tomorrow morning when you go to school. So you need to instill accountability in your courses, whether it's automated reminders or emails, check ins with maybe a weekly call, a group like a forum or a Slack channel or some sort of community chat. The point here is that you got to put their feet to the fire, okay? You got to hold them accountable and say, hey, have you done the work for week one before we move on to week two? I have found that when I instill accountability in my courses, when I install this and I make sure that I'm following up and I'm really just nagging my students because that's what they signed up for. They need somebody to push them. I found that, that I get higher success rates. I get people completing the course, I get people getting the result. Hold your students accountable. That's what they signed up for. Number three, clarification and questions. Students need to have the ability to get some clarification on a topic or on a module or on a lesson or just flat out ask questions on how they can apply what they're learning to their own circumstances, their own situation. So this is different from accountability. Accountability is like somebody checking up on them, making sure they're on track, making sure that they're not falling behind. Clarification and questions is the other way around. Accountability is you checking up on them. They are checking now in with you and saying, hey, I have a question. Hey, I'm wondering. This sparked a question in my head, how can they ask you questions? Do they email you? Do they have a forum? Do they have open Q and A sessions like office hours? You have to offer the opportunity for people to ask questions. This is where interactivity comes in. This is where people really start cementing the actual knowledge. Because now when they ask the questions, it's relatable. They know how to apply it to their own life and circumstance. Number four, and this is a biggie, and a lot of people skip this one. And that's a clear outcome. You need to make sure you are crystal clear with your marketing, with your sales, with the title of your course, what the outcome is of this course, what's your promise? What's the finish line? The reason why this is so important is because you need to choose wisely, because you are holding yourself accountable. You are holding yourself to that standard, to that result. So if I was a basketball coach, it doesn't make any sense for me to have a course outcome or title that says, become an amazing basketball player with my course right? Or in 30 days. That's unrealistic. And I'm setting myself up for failure and setting my students up for failure. A better, clear outcome is. Is something more specific and something measurable, like, increase your free throw shooting percentage by 10%. I'm focusing on free throws. I'm actually telling what the outcome looks like. Hey, you're going to be able to go from 70 to 80% free throw shooting. They know what they're aiming for, and it motivates the student because they have their eye on the prize. They're like, yes, this is exactly what I want. This alone will help sell your course easily, but also can motivate your students to finish the course because they know what they'll get, what's in it for them. About eight years ago, I took a Facebook marketing course by Rick Mulready. And what I loved about his course is that I had a clear outcome. I was able to create my own Facebook ads for my business by the end of the course. Now, the course was long and it was hard, but because I had a clear vision of what I'll be able to do at the end, I was motivated to continue with the course, do all the modules, do all the work. Because then I felt confident that. That if I do that, I'll get what I want, run efficient ads. Hey, Fidelity.

Okay to recap the first four of the five elements for an impactful online course is Number one Thorough instruction. Making sure that you actually teach what you need to teach. Explain things slowly, step by step to allow them to be able to do each part of your course. Number two Accountability. Holding their feet to the fire, making sure they're on track and they're not falling behind. Number three Clarification and questions. Making sure you have a way for them to ask questions. Whether it's open Q and A sessions like live office hours or a webinar or email or chat or whatever it is, they need to be able to ask questions during your course. And number four, a crystal clear outcome. What they will gain? What will they get? Will they be able to do by the end of the course? And now number five, this is the cherry on the Sunday. This is what makes people really take action and make use of your course. And that's resources. The best courses I've taken and run are courses that give them everything they need to pull off what you're asking of them. So for example, in my Automated webinar challenges a 30 day course, I show them how to create their own automated webinar. Part of that course is writing all the emails to promote that automated webinar to remind people of the automated webinar notifications, follow up emails, sales emails, all that stuff. I can just go and tell them, hey, write these emails. No, instead I walk them through how to write the emails and I give them scripts. I give them templates to use so that they have an easier experience of pulling off that task. I know it's an overwhelming task, so let me make it easier. Let me give them a template. Part of the course also is putting together their presentation slides. I give them a template for that. I give them actual keynote and PowerPoint slides where they can just modify the logos and the colors, but what they have to put on the slides is already there in the template. So Resource can really help increase your completion rates, your success rates for your students and it just gives them that extra help, that extra nudge that they need. This could be follow up resources where they can continue to learn after the course. Whether it's books or articles or podcast episodes, the more you can give them to supplement the video instruction, the better because it allows them to really dig their teeth into what they need to do to pull off the outcome. And well, there you have it guys. Those are the five elements of an impactful online course. Make sure you implement them in your next course. If you already have an online course, double check you are doing every single one of these and if not, modify, change, tweak your course to make sure you do. That wraps up today's lesson.
