Listen in on Friday, just like today, to see if you won. It's that easy. We announced this week's winner a little bit later in the episode. In today's episode, you will learn how to improve your writing in just 30 days. One of the most important skills you can have as an entrepreneur, as a creator, as a business builder is written communication. It's how we build relationships. It's how we describe what we do. It's how we sell. It's how we express our value. And if you're a little shaky on writing or you don't feel confident, well, I'm going to put you through a 30 day boot camp. This works. I've done this. I've shared this with others. And if you're willing to commit to a little bit more writing in the next 30 days, you're going to come out a stronger, more confident writer in your business. I'm going to outline exactly what to do, how to do it, why it's important, and how it can impact your business immediately. Best of all, I'll show you what your after Picture will look like how you will transform yourself as a writer, as a communicator in your business after the 30 day challenge. So let's get into it. Let's get down to business. Gas, snacks, tolls.

When it comes to business, there are three major types of writing that is important for you to be good at, for you to constantly be improving. And we're going to focus on these three types of writing in the next 30 days. In this challenge. It doesn't matter what you sell, what you do, what you offer, a product or service, a software, a book, a course, a training, whatever it is. These three exercises, these three skills when it comes to writing are essential for you to be able to be successful, be able to communicate your value and be able to really connect with your audience. So let's start with defining what these three types of skills are. The first type of writing is connection and communication. You have to have the skills to be able to connect with people, build relationships, communicate clearly, succinctly, and it's not a snooze fest. People enjoy your writing. They like to read your emails, your tweets or your messages or your DMs. It's delightful. The second type of writing is for content. So we got communication and connection. The second one is content, and this is more like, I'm going to write with the purpose of providing value to my audience, to the people that are reading it. This is really teaching. And when you write for valuable content, there's a different type of skill or different type of writing expertise you have to tap into. And the third is writing for sales. Some people call this marketing writing or sales writing or sales copy. But the aim here is to write in a way that conveys the value of what you're offering and convince the reader that it's worth buying. You're going to need to know how to write good sales copy so you can close more sales and have a healthy Business, whether it's on your website or in your newsletters, or going back and forth with trying to close a client on email. So knowing that we're trying to learn how to write for these three purposes, connection and communication, content and sales. In the next 30 days, you're going to do some exercises that are gonna really strengthen these skills. Let me tell you what these exercises are. Every day for the next 30 days, we're going to do these exercises to increase our communication and connection skills. And this is going to be quite fun and easy. You're going to hop on Twitter. If you haven't been there in a while, it's pretty good. Especially to build this skill. A lot of people get stumped on Twitter because they think it's all about tweeting out something brilliant. I'm here to tell you, you're not going to do that in the next 30 days, or you don't have to do that. But what you're going to do is add value in the already existing conversations that are on Twitter. One of the things that a lot of people don't recognize is that Twitter is all about who you follow. You follow the right people, you're going to get the right conversations, you're going to be able to contribute in a valuable way, and that's how you actually get more followers. Because people like what you say in these conversations, and they're like, hey, this person seems interesting. Let me follow them. But we're not going to worry about followers right now. All we're going to do is focus on participating in three conversations and every single day on Twitter, whether it's answering a question, giving your insights, giving your opinion, your job is to communicate with these people and connect with them via these threads. Now, the reason why I choose Twitter to do this is because there's plenty of conversations on Twitter, and Twitter forces you to be concise. The Character limit is 280 on Twitter per tweet. So it forces you to be economical and to the point. So there's your first task. Every day for the next 30 days, you're going to jump into three different conversations. You're going to comment on three different conversations and build those connections and add value. Don't let the day go by without doing that. Even if you have to do that before bed, get it done. Don't delay or pass it on to the next day and say, I'll do six tomorrow. No, three. Every day. The consistency matters. The momentum matters. The second skill is writing for content. Now, if you don't have A blog. Make sure you have one. Okay? It's very easy to add a blog to any website. If you don't have a website, no worries. You can blog on medium for free. You can start your own personal blog over@ghost ghost.org, start a WordPress site. Whatever. The point here is, is that you're going to blog every single week. Once a week you're going to write an article on a topic that you are passionate about. On an idea that really gets you moving. It could be an experience, it could be a story, it could be a life lesson. It doesn't matter. Your mission is every week you're going to write an article. That means four articles in the 30 days. That shares value with other people. With the audience that you're trying to build now, it's important for you to be able to communicate long form as well as short form. So let's have a minimum of 2000 words per article. This is also great for SEO. Google loves long form content, especially if it's great, valuable content. So commit every single week. Choose right now in your calendar. Pop the time when you're going to do it, where you're going to draft, write and publish this article. The reason why I say choose a topic you're passionate about, something that really moved you in your life, and experience something that gets you going is because it's going to be easy and faster for you to write it. If you are really feeling this topic, if you're really excited to share it with the world, you're not going to sit there and stare at a blank page. My advice? Decide on the topics for all four articles. First and foremost, outline the first one and then start writing. So let's move on to the third skill, writing for sales. So in this 30 day challenge, in these 30 days you're going to create one email marketing campaign that will include four emails. And you could do this anytime during the month. To sell something, you offer a book, a program, a product. And you're going to do it via email. If you don't sell anything, sell your time coaching Q and A, whatever it is, you can use our software webinar Ninja if you want to, you can charge easily with our paid webinar feature code. MBA gives you a discount. Shameless plug. There you go. But it doesn't matter. The point here is that we're focusing on learning how to write and get comfortable with selling via email with this format. Writing, the benefits, the features, what your offer includes, the value of your offer, what their life is going to be like after they consume your product, giving them a call to action, showing them how to buy. Maybe you want to throw in some bonus, some urgency. An offer will end at a certain point. How does the first email relate to the second email and what does that last chance email look like? It also helps you work on subject lines. Subject lines are incredibly important when it comes to emails to get people to open them up. How do you create a subject line that's not spammy but gets people curious and is related to the content of the email? Now, this task is going to give you a bit of flexibility because it gives you a chance to put an offer together in the next 30 days and and draft these four emails leading up to this offer and of course, offering the offer itself.
We've all been there. You hold onto a coupon but forget about it and suddenly it's expired.
Expired in 2012.
Dang it.
Fortunately, by switching to Geico, you could save about $900 on car insurance without ever touching a coupon.
It feels good to save big. It feels good to Geico. So there you have it. This is what you're going to be doing for the next 30 days to vastly improve your writing, improving your communication and connection skills via Twitter by tweeting three times in three conversations every single day, writing a valuable blog post, 2,000 words once a week, and creating a 4 email sales campaign for your product or service in the next 30 days. What I found was when you do these exercises, when you actually fulfill this challenge, you stop living in your head. You start just doing and you start flowing. You start writing and adding value and getting out of your own way because it just becomes and exercise, it becomes routine and not a daunting task. Also, it gives you enough reps and consistency over a short period of time to improve quickly. And lastly, it gives you enough pieces of content to get feedback and feel more confident about your writing. So the only question left is, will you take action and implement this challenge? Take it on. You will not regret it. That wraps up today's lesson. But today's episode's not over. Let's see who won this week's free ride on Free Ride Friday. And the winner is. DJ Sugaboy. That's the handle on Apple podcasts. DJ says productively awesome. Five stars. Homer gives a simple, straightforward, practical approach to be successful in business. No fluff, no entrepreneurial jargon. Thanks, DJ Sugar Boy, for that amazing review. Your mission is to email me over at omar@100mba.net so I can hook you up with a lifetime membership to Ezcourse over at Ezcourse Co. It retails for $500, but you can win it for free. Just leave us an Apple Podcast rating and review and enter our weekly random draw. And you're in the draw once you put in a review until you win. It's that simple. Thank you in advance for showing us love on Apple Podcasts. Before I go, I want to leave you with this. Twenty years ago, I hated writing. I thought I sucked, and it's because I did, and it's because I didn't do it. But the more I did it, the more I put myself in these different kind of scenarios and challenges, the more I realized actually I have some pretty good ideas that I can convey and I'm getting better at conveying them. And therefore my ideas are coming across and people are interested in what I have to say and I'm growing my audience and I'm making sales and you see what I mean? This is the after picture I'm talking about. And it all starts with just taking that initiative and realizing, hey, I gotta put in the work, I gotta put in the reps and I'll be better tomorrow than I was today. Thanks so much for listening and I'll check you on Monday's episode. I'll see you then. Take care.
