I'm also the co founder of Webinar Ninja, an independent software company I started with my co founder back in 2014 and today's episode is Q and A Wednesday. On Q and A Wednesdays I answer A from one of you, one of our listeners. If you got a question you want to ask just go ahead and email me over@omar00mba.net Today's question is from Vince and Vince asks, hey Omar, I'm a coach and course creator and absolutely love my business. I have total time flexibility. I get to create great content and now I'm finally making a healthy living. But I want to take things to the next level. I want to increase my revenue and sales but I hate sales. I wish I never had to do it. What are my options? What can I do to overcome this? In summary, love my business but hate sales. What do I do? Thanks Vince for submitting this question for Q and A Wednesday. I am positive there are lots of listeners right now feeling what you just said. Sales is not something they enjoy. They like to work on the actual product or service and whatever they do but here's the reality. You have to sell in business and I would argue you've probably done a decent job at it if you're making a healthy living. But having said that, you have options and I intend to share them with you in today's episode. Sounds like Vince wants to ramp up sales but doesn't want to do sales activities. We're going to outline some of the solutions to this problem, which ones I recommend, and how to implement them. So let's get into it. Let's get down to business.

But nobody wants to sell, right? But have no fear, I'm going to outline some options that you can consider when it comes to making more sales without kind of being salesy or even having to do any sales activities. But before we get into that, I want to just say that sales as we have known all our life has changed and you can thank the Internet for that. Why? Because the consumer these days, whether they're buying a loaf of bread, a new pair of jeans, a new car, software or a course, they have so much information at their fingertips they can easily google. They can easily get information and become a well informed buyer. 25 years ago, if you wanted to buy anything, you just rock up to the store and ask the salesperson. Nowadays, people do all the research online. They look at reviews, they read blog articles, they watch videos, they absorb a lot of content before they make a decision. This is to your advantage if you don't like sales. Because now sales is not convincing somebody to buy something, it's educating them. So if you love your topic, if you love what you do, in Vince's case, he likes creating the courses that he creates. You don't need to sell the course, you just need to share what it's all about. You could even give previews or bite sized pieces from the course so that they can know what they're getting into. And you could do that on your own website where you sell the course on the sales page. On other platforms like YouTube or TikTok or Instagram. This is why content marketing is so powerful today, because it helps educate the buyer about your product or service. You're top of mind, you're giving value, and you're building trust. So sometimes the solution to your sales problem is just providing more education. But having said that, I do believe that sales is a skill that's very powerful, especially today, because not so many people do it well. So anytime you want to do anything in your business to support your product or service that you don't necessarily want to do, consider outsourcing it. Find somebody who does like to sell, who's very good at it, and offer them a commission on every sale they can create the content they can get on, maybe even sales calls. If you're selling a product or a service, some people are even willing to create full, live or automated webinars for you where you can take that content and use it over and over. And that leads me to the next option, which is automation. Automate your sales through automated webinars, recorded demos, email marketing, or sequences where you can have somebody write this stuff up for you, shoot these videos for you, create, and you can just reuse them over and over with automation tools. Even if you don't hire somebody to do the content for you, let's say you're convinced. Okay, maybe I don't really hate sales. I really just need to focus on education. You need to just create this content once, put it into your automation and it's done. Some of us hate something that we're just not good at. Maybe if we got a little better at it, we'll enjoy it and you just need to follow some sort of system or some sort of formula. If you want to use live or automated webinars to sell your courses, which is one of the top ways creators sell their courses, then I actually give a full A to Z game plan for selling your products and services using webinars with our free workshop. If you want to check it out, it's a webinarninja.com workshop. You can sign up for the next live training. You can just follow my formula and use my templates so that you don't need to guess what you're supposed to be doing. You don't want to hire a salesperson. Create a referral or affiliate program for your product and get your best customers to promote and sell for you. The next level to this is partnering up with large distributors. For example, you might want to partner with a marketplace like Appsumo or Groupon where they can sell your product for you. They'll take a cut of course, but that's their jam. That's what they do day and night and they'll sell your product. These are all options. Now let's say you want to make more revenue, but maybe you don't really want to do any sales activities other than what you're doing right now. Well, one way to do that is just increase your prices. Even a slight increase, a 10 to 15% increase can make a huge difference in the bottom line of your revenue and it might be just enough of a bump that you were looking for in the first place. Sometimes you just need to optimize what you already have and you'll sell more. Like just optimize the sales page for your course. You might be driving traffic through social media. Maybe you're on podcasts, maybe you're creating content and therefore people are just going to the site anyway. If you want a higher conversion on that page, you might need some copywriting help. Hiring a copywriter to improve your sales copy can do wonders. Even if they make some small changes and increase your conversion by 1 or 2%, this could be a huge difference in the number of customers you'll get every single month. It's a small investment for a huge pay. Another place you can invest in if you don't want to do any kind of face to face, direct or sales activities is SEO search Engine optimization. People are searching for what you got. Make it easy for them to find you. My advice when it comes to hiring someone for SEO hire them for a small project, invest a small amount of money, see how well they do. See if they actually help you get more traffic in the next coming months organically and improve your ranking for your keywords. If it all works out, double down, go back to them and keep working and improve your traffic now. The combination of more organic traffic with higher conversions with the sales page copy being improved is a recipe for success at Capella University.

And A Wednesday's question from Vince, who hates sales but loves his business. You have plenty of options as I showed you in today's episode, but there's one more option that I did not mention and to reference one of my favorite travel bloggers and writers, Rick Steves if something's not to your liking, change your liking. Challenge yourself. Maybe you can learn to like sales. Maybe it's something that you just say to yourself you don't like it because you don't understand it or you're scared of it. What if you said to yourself, I'm going to take a crash course. Maybe I'm going to read a book on sales and see if I change my mind. If you don't, fair enough. But if you do, you just opened up a new avenue, a new opportunity for you and your business. One book I recommend is Sell It Like a Mango by Donald Kelly. It's a book I'm looking forward to doing a must read episode about in the future. It's a fun title because it's a fun book. Sell It Like a Mango by Donald Kelly.
