We give it all we can, but we gotta be careful because this could lead to burnout. We want to win the marathon, not the so in today's lesson, I'm going to give you five strategies that I use that work that stop burnout from happening in the first place. We don't want to get to the point where we're totally burnt out and we're dying for a break. We want that to never happen and manage our energy, our time, our effort, our mental health to prevent that from ever happening. So burnout never even actually rears its ugly head. Burnout can cause problems not only in your personal life, but in your business. It can cause your business to have a setback, to not stay competitive, not to get the Things you need to get done when you need to get them done. So this is super serious. This is why I wanted to dedicate an episode to it. I'm going to show you what worked for me and how it can help you. So let's get into it. Let's get down to business.

All right, let's get into the five strategies that are going to help you prevent burnout from happening. The first one might surprise you and that is to get up early, wake up early. Now, before you roll your eyes or say, Omar, how is this going to prevent burnout? Just hear me out. You're going to get up early for a purpose. You're not going to get up early so you can work or grind it out. You're actually going to get up early for yourself. You're going to give yourself time to set your day up, right. To give you the things you need to be recharged and feed yourself first. I learned this actually from Kevin Hart. Yep. The comedian. He's actually a pretty good writer and his audiobook, the Decision has a lot of good self help tips. So what do I mean by getting up early and working on yourself or giving time for yourself? Well, when I get up early, what I like to do is I like to spend time doing my morning routine. That's reading, that's writing, that's having a breakfast, taking my time with my breakfast, getting some exercise in, getting a chance to go for a walk to the gym, be in my thoughts, listen to music, maybe even listen to a book that I'm listening to. This is not work, right? This is me giving a chance to work on myself and nourish myself. So if you normally get up at 8 o', clock, get up at 6 o' clock and give yourself two hours to set up your day, right? This is going to give you so much energy, it's going to give you momentum. You're going to feel like before the day even begins, you have already won. Think about it. You get up early, you feel good about getting up early, you're not rushing, you're enjoying your breakfast, you're enjoying your morning routine. You're enjoying the fact that you got some exercise in and some fresh air. You're giving yourself some me time. And then after two hours of giving Yourself that time you're ready to jump into work, clear headed and full of energy. Yes. This means that we're gonna have to go to bed a little bit earlier. But I actually love it. I get up at 5:30 and this is my routine. I just love to do this because it gives me a chance to work on myself. I give myself two and a half hours in the morning just for me. No one's awake. My team, you know, they're working away on the other side of the world. They're not expecting anything from me. That gives me two and a half hours for my. I love it because no one's expecting anything from me at that time. It's too early. And then when I start my workday at 8, I'm ready to go. I feel like a winner already because I've gotten so much done for myself and I can give eight to nine hours of work solid before I close off for the day. All right, tip number two, to prevent burnout, this one is going to take a little bit of discipline and a little bit of reorganization of what you do every day. But what I found, what burns me out quicker, like if I do more of this work, it burns me out faster than any other type of work that's non creative work. Work that doesn't actually create an end result, whether that's me creating a sales page or creating a video or a podcast episode like this one. I like to spend 51%, at least 51% of my day, of my week, of my month on creative tasks, on things that actually create something. Because this gives me energy when I create things. This makes me feel like I have a purpose and that I see the fruits of my labor. It's rewarding and it doesn't burn me out. That's why I make sure most of my time is spent doing this type of work. There are other things I have to do in my business that are not like that, like meetings and calls and responding to emails and things like that. And I resign to the fact that I have to do that. That's okay. But most of my time should not be doing those tasks. Most of those tasks you can outsource, you can get somebody else to do, you can get some help with that. What I'm trying to do as the days go on, as the years go on, is I want to take it from 50 to 60 to 70 to 80 to 90% of my time doing creative work. When you do that kind of work every day, you don't feel burnt out, you feel excited. To go to work every day. Number three, preloaded holidays. I learned this from my buddy Dale Beaumont over at Business Blueprint, Google him, he's an amazing business coach and one of the things he teaches is the preloaded year, which means he actually plans out his whole year in advance, starting with his holidays. I've been doing this for years now with Nicole and I have all my holidays already planned for the next year. Why is this important? Well, it's important for us as hard working people to have things to look forward to, to know that there are breaks coming up and I will be getting a chance to recharge and relax before I burn out. I like to make sure I have about five to 10 days every three or four months. So after the first quarter I might have five days off and then after half the year I'll have 10 days off. And then after another quarter five then 10. Listen, as an entrepreneur, as a leader of the business, as somebody who has a lot of responsibility on their shoulders, it's a high impact sport. You need to recharge, you need to give yourself time, you need time to reflect. Don't cut yourself short. Plan these holidays in advance, put them in the calendar, book the tickets, book the hotels. This is what I do on my weekends to plan out my holidays so I know it's actually happening. And then you basically recharge the batteries before the burnout actually happens. Tip number four, this is going to take some time to implement. It's going to take time for you to get used to this, but it's essential and it's called off hours. You need to set a time every day and during the weekend when you are off, meaning you do not answer any notifications. You have notifications off actually, so they don't actually bother you. You step away from your computer, step away from technology if you can, because you have to have a delineation of, of work and life. I know a lot of people say work, life, balance and it's all one thing and this is a recipe for burnout. You need to have a break so that way your brain recharges. So if that is 6 o' clock for you, 6pm, no more notifications, no more replying to emails, no more computer, no more nothing. And now you just step away so you can forget about it for a while. So you can recharge your batteries subconsciously, even have your dinner, enjoy your family, get a good night's sleep, wake up in the morning, do your morning routine like the first two hours like I mentioned and have it for yourself. And then 8 o' clock in the morning is when you go back on. This gives you a good amount of time for you to just step away from things, get perspective, let your subconscious brain solve some problems for you and do the same on the weekends. This gives your body and stress levels a break from the tension, from the awareness of what's happening in your business and the worry you need to give yourself a break. The problems that you need to solve will be there tomorrow at 8am, right? They're not going anywhere. Give yourself a chance to recharge, have those off hours. Guys, I got one more strategy that I want to share with you. When it comes to curbing, preventing, making sure burnout doesn't happen.

To wrap up today's lesson, let's recap real quick. What are the first four strategies for preventing burnout? Number one, wake up early, Give yourself some me time for a couple hours. Number two, most of your time, 51% or more of your time should be creating things, doing creative work. Number three, the preloaded year or holidays. Put in your holidays now so you don't get burnt out. Don't say I'll wait later. Know that they're coming, have them planned out. Number four, off hours during your day, during the weekend. Don't mix life and work. Give yourself a chance to relax, to step away from things, to recharge. Number five, this one has been an absolute game changer for me. I know you heard of this before and I've heard about it for years, but I didn't do it consistently until recently, the last couple years, and that's journaling. Journaling is incredible for burnout. Why? Because when you're stressed, when you're tired, it's all in your head and, and you can't really decipher what is really bothering you, right? You're just upset, you're in a mood and you really don't understand why. When you write down your thoughts and I do it in the morning and you just write down what are you worried about? What's bothering you right now? What's stressing you out? You start to realize, okay, it's actually not that bad. These are only one or two things that I need to solve. I have a plan for it. It's going to be okay. And what you realize that when you journal every day is you do solve these problems so that when the next challenge comes, you know that you are confident to solve that next challenge because you got over it and because you journaled about it. You have evidence. You have written documentation. You also learn what you stress about a lot. You learn about yourself. You reflect. It's also a great record of your life. Imagine having a library full of your journals that you can pass on when you yourself pass on, right? It's also an amazing tool to remind yourself of what you should be grateful for in the morning. What I like to do is I just like to write things that I'm grateful for. I like to write what, what is on my mind, what's consuming me, what's bothering me, some of the things I have to get done today. What would be a win today if I got these things done, there would be a successful day. What am I doing right? What am I doing wrong? What am I looking forward to? It's such a great experience to journal. You just got to get into habit of it. You just got to get started. One of the things I learned in the process is sometimes you're going to fall off. Sometimes you're going to forget to do a journal entry. Maybe you'll skip a day or two, maybe a week. But the point is that once you realize, oh, I stepped away from it for a bit, just jump right back into it. Don't feel bad about it. Don't feel like, oh, I haven't written in my journal for a few days. I guess it's over. Or does it count because I didn't do it every day? No, it's okay. Just jump right back into it. Start writing again. It's a great stress reliever. It also puts things in perspective. Thanks so much, guys for listening to the $100 NBA show, but today's episode is not over. It's free Ride Friday.
