Let me tell you about Intuit QuickBooks. When I was starting out my business, I remember sitting at my desk late at night not working on my business but cleaning up numbers, tracking and reconciling payments and wondering how this became my life. But once I automated the admin side of things of my finances, those nights had disappeared and I felt a whole lot better. Outdo it with intuit QuickBooks QuickBooks is the trusted end to end solution that businesses rely on for getting paid, managing finances, paying employees, finding new customers and more. QuickBooks provides a team of AI agents and trusted experts, so doing it yourself no longer means doing it alone. Their payment agent gets you paid faster, their customer agent finds leads, follows up and secures more sales, and the accounting agent automates and categorizes transactions. Just like today, we announce today's winner a little bit later in the episode. It's that simple. It's our way to say thank you for showing us love on Apple Podcasts. In today's lesson you will learn does your morning routine matter? You'll hear countless gurus online saying that you got to get up in the morning, drink your bulletproof coffee, do your yoga, do your meditation journal, go for a five mile run, have a high protein breakfast all before 5:30. Does this really matter? Does it make a difference? Do you need to be this Peak performer every single day, every single morning to be successful in life and in business. And let me give you the answer. Spoiler alert. No. This is absolutely ridiculous. And I'll explain why in today's episode. Now, I'm not saying that having a morning routine of some sort is totally useless, but what I am saying is that a lot of this stuff actually doesn't help you achieve the success you're looking for. In fact, it holds you back. And I'll explain why in today's episode. This might be a bit of a hot take, but I've tried all kinds of morning routines and I'll tell you what has worked for me and what just simply doesn't. So let's get into it. Let's get down to business. So does your morning routine really matter? My answer to this is very simple. You have to be careful as an entrepreneur, as a business person, as a creator, as a human being, not to go to extremes. We're in a society where the extremes are the normal now. And extremes in anything in life, whether it's good or bad, isn't healthy for several reasons. Number one, it's not sustainable. Number two, it's not good for your mental health because you'll feel guilty and you'll be hard on yourself when you don't do the routine because it's so unsustainable. It's kind of a vicious cycle. And number three, most importantly, not everything matters. Not every little morning routine ritual is actually going to contribute to your success. This is my opinion. I've tried a lot of different things. I'm going to tell you what actually moves the needle and here's the bottom line. You need to craft a morning routine that simply gets you in the best state possible to produce the best work. That's it. I'm serious now. Notice I said the best work and not the most work. Some of us are trying to get way too much done in a day. We're waking up at the crack at dawn, working until midnight, trying to get through our 57 to do's on our to do list for the day. And in my 20 years of business experience, this is the wrong way to do it. You actually would make more of an impact on your life and in your business if you did a few things really well. Look at the people you admire. Look at the experts in any industry. They're not great at everything. They. They're actually really great at a few things. And that's because they work on those few things every single day. So it's Actually better for you to have a high quality day, meaning the work you produce every single day for your business is at the best quality possible. Everything else, admin tasks, the things that you don't like to do, the things that suck up your time, that are not enjoyable or are not your superpower, need to be outsourced and need to be delegated, need to be cut out of your whole routine altogether. And you may not be able to do this overnight, but it should be a work in progress. You should be cutting away at these things every single day, every single week, every single month. That's just how you need to approach it. Because everything can't be important. That's just illogical. Everything can't be important. Important things are a few things and you need to focus on those things in your business. So what does this have to do with a morning routine? Well, again, in my opinion, your morning routine should prime you to put your best foot forward, to bring out the best in you so you can create the best quality work every day. What does that need to do? So for some of us, we need a little bit more sleep. We're too tired in the morning to get anything done or have focus, you know yourself better. For me personally, I like to exercise because this allows me to feel like I got a win. I have momentum and it gives me energy. This allows me then to take on the day in a better mood, with a better attitude and a feeling that I'm already successful. For me, in the morning, I like to read a little bit. Why? Because I don't want to go, go, go in the morning. I don't want to amp myself up. I like to ease in the morning. And one of the things that really stimulates you is your phone, is the tv, the news? I'm not interested in that. I want to have a clear mind. And reading allows me to kind of have a stable rhythm as I start my day. I like to have a good breakfast, right? I like to eat well in the morning so I don't need to eat again for the next four or five hours. I'm full, I'm nourished, I'm ready to go. And I have a good chunk of time, uninterrupted by hunger, to focus on deep work. This primes me for a high quality day. So how do you know what will prime you for a high quality day? Well, it's going to take some experimentation. It took me a while to figure out what works for me. So one week, try this, one week try another thing. Maybe for you reading is not the thing. Maybe a 10 minute walk around the block really makes you feel great in the morning. Maybe you actually do better without breakfast. And you like to do some intermittent fasting. Everybody's different, but you won't know unless you try. Here is the bottom line. Your morning routine should basically reset you. So your state of mind, your mood really is in peak position for success. I actually learned this from artists and graphic designers that I've met along the way in my care. Artists really understand that you got to be in the right state of mind to create great art. You can't be in a bad mood and create beautiful work. This actually matters. You can't just jump into the day and say, no matter how I feel and no matter what's going on, I'm going to produce the same quality work. No. Yes. You got to get things done. But you also have to take control of the state you're in and put yourself in the best position for success. So to answer today's question, does your morning routine matter? Having one matters, but your morning routine is yours. You craft it, you create it. You have to experiment with it. Even if you dedicated the next three months on experimenting different things every single morning, trying to make it work for you, seeing what actually works, journaling about it and saying, hey, this is how I feel today. After this routine. After this routine is how I feel. Until you hone it in and then that becomes your routine for the rest of the year. You may want to tweak things here and there beyond that, but the point here is that it's a good investment of time. So the routine itself, what you actually do is up to you. Don't listen to people say you have to do these things every morning to be a winner, because people are different. Okay. Read biographies. One of the things I love about reading biographies is you learn that, wow, success takes different forms. Jeff Bezos does not wake up under the crack of dawn. He actually gets up at 8. Love him or hate him, he's created an incredibly successful business. Despite getting up after the sun has risen. I know Jason Fried, who's the founder of basecamp and hey.com doesn't have anything on his calendar until noon. He doesn't like to meet with anybody, doesn't like to talk actually that much in the morning. He likes to have a quiet morning where he reads the newspaper, for crying out loud. And yet he has a fulfilled life with a successful business. And he didn't even have to read the newspaper with orange tinted glasses. One size does not fit all. It's good to have a morning routine. You gotta choose what's in that routine. Now, as much as it's important to have routine, it's also important to sometimes break it. Gas, snacks, tolls. This trip is draining my wallet.
Yeah, but we'll be with family.
You're in a good mood. What's your deal?

Honey sauce on the snack wrap. McDonald's outdid themselves again. The classic snack wrap we all know and love paired with the sweet heat of hot honey sauce. Just what we needed to make it even more perfect. You know the drill, so go to McDonald's and try it today.
Now, I'm a big believer in routine. I think it's great to have a morning routine that works for you, but it's important for you to break it as well. It's okay for you to not do your routine if you're on holiday, for example, so you can see the difference of how you feel. So you could see if you actually miss it or if it's a burden. Maybe you need to change things up to make things more interesting and enjoyable. At the end of the day, every morning you get up and whatever you do in that morning, that's your life, okay? So you might as well enjoy it. Do things you enjoy. So if you don't enjoy drinking bulletproof coffee, you know, coffee with butter, you don't like the taste, but they say it's good and can allow you to focus. Don't do it, okay? This is your life. You're not going to live it every day doing things you hate. Especially if it's not life threatening if you don't do it. Some of us sometimes, especially early in our career, think we have to do things to be a winner. No, you do things that work for you. This is your life. This is your journey and it's going to be different from other people. Thanks so much for listening to the 100 RMBA Show. If you love what you hear, hit subscribe. Thank you in advance for showing us love on Apple Podcast. Before I go, I want to leave you with this. One of the big reasons why I want you to try new things every morning until you find what works is because in my experience, you. You find things that surprise you. Things that I never knew would actually make a difference. For example, every morning I would have my breakfast and read my book or journal on the couch by the coffee table. It just seems okay. And I never thought about where having my breakfast matters. Then I started to say, hey, let me change it up. Let me go and sit on the balcony and be outdoors. And boy, did that make a difference. I was looking forward to getting up in the morning because I could hear the birds and I can feel the sun on my skin. Almost felt like I was on a mini holiday. During breakfast I was like, wow, I wish I'd started doing this earlier. And just by trying different things, I found new things that I loved to add to my routine and it contributed to the state I needed to be in to produce.
Excellent work.
Thanks so much for listening and I'll check you in Monday's episode. I'll see you then. Take care.
