4 Relationships You Need to Grow Your Business and Create Lasting Impact - Wisdom4Humanity w/Patrick

Patrick Mosher breaks down four relationship types every business needs: Clients, Collaborators, Coaches, and Connectors. Most founders focus only on clients, but a fractional chief of staff or business advisor can shift your trajectory. Connectors like influencers open doors to networks you can't reach alone.

I wanted to take some time today to click on relationships, the top one, at your request. Last, last month, you folks said, oh, we'd like to look at relationships. So, so I think of, first of all, I put relationships. Let's do this first. I'd like you to spend 30 seconds, whatever it is, to brainstorm what— who do you need to grow your business, to maintain your business, to sustain your business? What 2 or 3 key relationships do you need to make that work? And go. Relationships can be names of people or roles. You may not know you need an online social media manager. You may know you need one, but you don't know who it is. So just name the role instead of the person. We're good to go. How did you know what I wrote down on my list, Patrick? Because that's such a common one that people need. The other one, the other one that people say is, I need a virtual assistant. I'm like, no, you don't. They're like, what do you mean? I was like, that's so broad. Tell me what you need. And they're like, and you've heard me say this before, I need somebody who takes the ideas out of my head and puts them in social media. I'm like, That's not a virtual assistant. That's, that's a therapist. You know, I mean, that's a lot of things, but a virtual assistant is not going to get that done for you. So, so anyway, okay, good, good, good. All right. I'd like you to— so I think of clients or I think of, I think of customers. Sorry, I think relationships in these 4 categories I gave you 2 already is I think of them in 4 categories of Customers, customers or clients be in the same category. Collaborators, collaborators being, could be a business partner, somebody who helps you build your solutions that you need to build it. It could be team, it's more, more directly, it's, it's team members. It could be competencies that you need to bring into your team. Contractors, those kind of things. The third one is coach. Do I need a coach? And coach could be a personal development, could be a to get you over your own transitions. It could be, like I said, an online business, social media person. It could be a business manager, could be a fractional chief of staff, which I do have. From, uh, Kaziah's organization.
Great plug. Thank you.
You're very welcome. Well deserved. Um, and, uh, so, you know, that— those are, you know, um, that. And then connectors. Um, who are your connectors? Um, connectors are, uh, in, in the social networking literature Think of a connector as a gatekeeper, a liaison. It's access to another community that you don't have access to. And Nate, you and I have talked about this, you know, to some degree too. It's like, who are the connectors? Because to reach out and try to and have thousands of customer connections to get your business started may not be the best answer. It's like, Who, who knows the 5 clients that would be the most valuable for us to have? Who's connect— who, who are those people? In, uh, when you work in the medical field, in the healthcare field, um, they talk about— oh, what do they even call them now these days? Um, but anyway, you talk about, uh, Chief medical officers or doctors that pharmaceutical companies hire to be these influencers. Influencers can be connectors too. Good with these 4 labels. I would suggest that you look at your list. I'm just curious, was your list mostly Clients, collaborators, coaches, or connectors? Clients. Clients. Okay, cool.
Because I, I, I guess maybe I— you'd have to say the buckets again, but my— I put mine into two buckets of clients and the— my employees.
So employees would be collaborators.
Collaborators. Okay. Yeah. So those are my two main Okay, groups, that's good.
So, so clients, um, yeah, how do we get better connected with clients? Yeah, very good, very good. Okay, so those are the relationships.
