Challenge Accepted: How to Introduce Yourself Like a Pro in Any Era #introduceyourself #leadership

A coach shares how to craft introductions that speak to what people care about now, not someday. He uses three examples: "I sell selling to sellers" for sales leadership, and "I navigate large-scale change in large organizations. The bigger the better" for change management. The key is matching your mission to your audience's immediate priorities.

And a movement, the definition of a movement is defining and shaping a new way of living and relating. It's a new way of living and relating. And you all just mentioned your mission. My life mission is to build a better world for future generations. Okay, now looking at what I just said, a new world for future generations. People could care less about future generations right now. Right? So it's like, I gotta, I gotta hunker down now. I gotta survive. I've gotta put food on the table. You know, now if they have kids, it's like, I know, but I have to feed my kids. I'm not talking about how they're gonna survive when they're 50 years old. So I've gotta change my messaging. Okay, just to, to go with what we're saying. So, when you describe your life mission, make sure that it, it punches with, you know, where the culture is right now. So I'll give you, you know, the 3 that I've used in my career, just 3. So I just told you one, build a better world for future generations. That's my wisdom for humanity world. But before that, right before that, Chuck knows this part of me, Sales Talent Solutions. I think, Amber, you were in my world at that time too, but you were in the bridge time. Sales Talent Solutions, you've heard me say this before, my introduction went this way and I just did it 2 weeks ago. I sell selling to sellers, which is a really hard sell. And chief sales officer would go like, yes, I am. You know, so, so I put it right there in front of them. You know, this is the hard thing I'm trying to do with you guys right now. And before that, when I was in change management, my introduction basically went, I navigate large-scale change in large organizations. The bigger the better. Ooh, that little tagline on the end. They're like, oh, oh, this guy's in, right? He's in it for the big haul. Okay. So those are the, and those are, kind of scarcity messages. These are things about abundance. This is about dreams. This is like, there's a challenge in front of you and I'm up for it. Cool. So make sure that you, you, you introduce yourself, very simple things. That, you know, relate to where people are today.
