How to Set Deadlines That Get Results (The Fifth & Final Step) #leadership #purpose #deadlines

Two coaches explain how to celebrate milestones when chasing deadlines. Real rewards work better than just consequences: play piano, take a walk, cook dinner for your spouse. Celebrating with someone else keeps motivation alive.
Yeah, okay.
Oh, this is good. All right, 1, 2, 3, 4. Last one. Ready for this one? How will you celebrate? Okay, how you celebrate the milestones. So what's a celebration for you? What do you give yourself when you celebrate something? Minor and major. Ah, celebration. Give yourself time to play piano. Give yourself time. Take one of your time blocks. Like, if you get done early on one of these things, give the rest of your time as a celebration for something you love to do. So what are some of the things you love to do? Do you like to walk? Do you like to go into nature? Do you need to— do you like that kind of stuff? Hey, would you be willing to give up your trip in February if you don't get this done? Well, here's the thing, it doesn't matter, but I just put that in your brain, right? Whether you did that or not, it's in your brain now.
That sounds more like a consequence than the celebration, right?
Right, right. Well, the flip side of that is I get to celebrate.
Yeah.
That it's done so I get to go. Yeah, yeah, it's, it's the flip side of the same thing. Yes, both of those. Um, for milestone celebrations, what looks good to you? Like, how would you spend an hour of your time as a celebration? Okay, uh, I've got an idea. What does your wife want you to do more of? So maybe something on here too, your celebration could be a gift to your wife, you know, of—
that's a good idea, yeah—
cooking a meal, um, saying, why don't we go out to a movie? I don't know if you guys do that, um, or, you know, watch something on Netflix with her or something like that. But, but give a gift to your wife, get her flowers. What are these for? I got something done in my point of view paper, and I just felt like I wanted to celebrate you for supporting me in that.
It's good.
That's called benefit extension. That's actually a thing.
Right, right, right.
So that's a sales technique. So, but flowers, cooking a meal, watching a show, You know, celebrate her. Oh, I like that idea for you.
