Powerful Habits That Amplify The Quality Of Your Life (& Those You Serve & Support) -Wisdom4Humanity

A speaker shares a 19-habit framework across five life categories, tracked with metrics like sleep hours, protein intake, partner mood scores, and weekly family contact. He logs everything on a spreadsheet with points, arguing that physical health, spirituality, and relationships directly fuel professional success.

and think of 3 habits that you should develop that will make you a better professional. All right, I'm going to, um, before we share ours across, I'm going to share mine. So, uh, I literally have 19 that I track every week, every month, every year, and I track these. So, so here's the 19. I have them in 5 categories. So you don't have to use these, but these are my 5 categories, and I'll go through what they are in each. So first of all, to be a great professional, I have to maintain this body. I got to be healthy. So, so even though this is like a personal thing, I got to be healthy. So the categories I have under there is I track how much sleep I get a night. I track my protein calories per day. I track whether I do tai chi in the morning as a meditation. I track whether I do my exercise 3 times a week. I track how many steps I take, and I have a metric for that. I track whether I drink 3 liters of water every day, which I never do, so I tend to never hit that one. And then I do vocal warm-ups. Vocal warm-ups are important for me because of my breathing issues. So I have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 of the 19 are just me keeping this instrument available. Cool. Um, so you might have some of those in yours, you may not have. Okay, the, the second category I have is deepening spirituality. That's important for me. Um, and so am I on the altar once a week? On the altar could mean— what I mean by that is, am I in ceremony once a week where I'm like, oh, I don't know what's going to happen next? And I get a revelation of some sort or something like that. So I have to do something spiritual every week. And then I have prayer ties. Do I do prayer ties every day? Do I pray every day? That for you can be a meditation or whatever, how you see that. And then I have a monthly sweat lodge. So I, I track those. Do I do my monthly sweat lodge? Okay, those are things that I do for, for keeping me connected that way. Cool with that one? Makes sense? Okay, the third category is enhancing relationships. Relationships is one of my things, and so I have— I literally track whether I had a good day with my significant other. I track that every day. And by the way, how that runs, just to share with you all, good days I get a 5 score. If there's an any kind of nick in that whatsoever, it's a -5 day. So if I have a, if I have a great week, I get, you know, all these great points. I get 1 point for a great day. Have 1 bad day and it blows the week. That one's really tough for me to, to, to keep track. But you know, like, so I've got to re, you know, I'm walking, I'm treading on these things like, oh, I feel it going there. How do I stay positive? How do I stay with this thing? So that's really important for me. My significant other, you're all smiling. This is great. And then I have one with my, my family children. It's like, do I, do I track that every week? My, my children are old and moved out and I could go weeks without pinging them and saying, hey, how you doing? So I need to, I actually have to put that on my spreadsheet. That sounds awful. I just said that on a recorded thing that I have to actually remind myself on a scorecard to, to talk to my kids. The only thing is I wish they would do the same thing, but okay, that's a whole different issue. And then finally, texts. I try to do 5 texts a day out of the blue to 5 people. And there's a mechanism for this that I love on Facebook and LinkedIn. It reminds you of people's birthdays. So then I look that up and, you know, sometimes I go like, happy birthday. And I don't just go happy birthday because that's just going to get ignored. So I say, happy birthday. It's been a while since we've chatted. What great wisdom have you collected over the last year that you want to share with the world? Love to know. All of a sudden they go to that one. It's not just happy birthday. They have to look at that one. They have to decide like, like, like, like, or do they go like, oh, he's asking me to interact with him. But then I might also put it there, hey, let's catch up.
