Your First 2 Steps to Set Up an Interaction with Laser-focused INTENTION - Wisdom4Humanity

Learn a two-step process for setting up intentional interactions: first, draft balanced objectives with a give-get ratio so you provide more value than you ask for; second, craft outcome-driving questions in three types: why-questions for needs, what/how-questions for planning, and summary questions for commitments.

So one of the first steps to set up an interaction with laser-focused intention is to draft objectives to create a win-win outcome. The win-win is for you and the person you're with. Draft your objectives. Objectives have nouns, they have verbs, they have adjectives. It's like, what do you want from this session, from this interaction? And that objective is Should also be what's your objective, but what's their objective? I learned this one when I was in sales transformation is what's the give-get ratio? What are you giving? What are you getting? For example, in today's session, yep, I'm getting you to show up, which is awesome. I gotta give you lots of value so that the give-get ratio is like I'm giving more than I'm getting out of this interaction. I think of that as so important to get these things right. So drafting objectives is so important. And so I'd like you to first thing is journal for, for 30 seconds or maybe a minute of what objectives do you have for this interaction that you're focused on here? What are your objectives? What decision do you want to get? What action do you want them to take? What are your objectives for what you want to give them? Are you trying to tell them something, give information? Take 30 to 60 seconds and write down what are your objectives for this interaction that you have. Okay, great. What are your objectives? And for me, I'm gonna pick— I'm gonna do one-on-ones with my mastermind people over the next couple of weeks. And so I wrote down some objectives for this. This isn't— keep writing as you're doing yours, but I'm just trying to give you ideas. So when I do these one-on-ones with my mastermind members, I want to collect their wins so we can celebrate these together. I want to gather their biggest challenges. What are their challenges they're facing with? Because I want to be able to help them with that. I want to highlight the value that we've already delivered in the mastermind program so far and highlight that so they're reminded of the value that's going on. And then we've got an event coming up later on this month, and I want to ask them, "What topics do you want to hear?" so they can co-create the agenda for this. Those are my objectives for this one-on-one conversations that I have with each of my mastermind members. And if you're on the call here, I'm gonna reach out to you and let's have that one-on-one conversation and talk about your world. So those are objectives. You know, what you should be looking for in your conversations with people. Okay, let's move on. Number 2, you have to craft questions to really set this up with laser focus. Craft questions to take the interaction deep. You know, questions are great, but they can be pretty surface. So, you know, I'm not known to be a good cocktail party person because I don't go like, "Oh, how's the weather?" "Ah, how you feeling today?" You know, "Great day today. How's the weather in your town?" It's like, man, I ask questions like, "What's your life mission?" They're like, "I don't even know you, dude." And I'm like, "Oh, sorry, I just kind of go deep. I love to go deep." So what questions are you going to do to take that interaction deep? And write down some questions on the intentional interaction plan that we have here. There's a number of prompts for you to ask, to answer those questions. There's different types of questions. Type 1 questions on this list is like why questions. Why questions help you discover needs and expectations. Why are you attending today's session? Why did you sign up for the mastermind? Why did you take the job that you're in? Why did you take the promotion? So all of these whys are like, you kind of go deep with those things. So, so those are, that's, those are the whys that you have. The second type of questions are type 2 and 3, are what and how questions. How are you going to get that done? What and how questions help you kind of plan out the steps to get something done. How are you going to make that happen? What's the next thing you're going to do with this? So that helps you develop strategies and help build towards outcomes. So those are the, the what and how questions. And then there's summary questions, and summary questions are so important. So let's see if I got this right. Are you going to do this by next Tuesday? It also validates behavioral commitments. So things like, "So you've got responsibility for this part of the project, right?" So those are like what I call summary questions, of the questions that say, "Did I get this right?" So journal now for a few, you know, 30 seconds to a minute, what are some of the questions that you could ask in this conversation that you're gonna have, this intentional interaction that you're gonna have with somebody. Take 30 to 60 seconds and draft those questions. Just dash down some ideas. And for me, with my one-on-one with my masterminders, I'm gonna I'm just gonna go through some of these. What was your intention when you joined the Mastermind program? And a great question: if you could remove one barrier, one barrier, you know, for in front of achieving your goal this year, what would that be? Love to hear that from my Mastermind members. What would that look like? So what questions will you ask? All right, now you can always go back through this when you fill out your intentional interaction plan to really sit down and think about these. We're really dissecting this intentional interaction that you're going to have. When you get better at this, this takes 5 minutes, 10 minutes. Right now we're going to spend a lot of time on these, but the higher-value ones you should spend more time on, right?
