I have a magic phrase for you today, and it's very useful when you're feeling anxious, when you're feeling worried. It's a phrase that you speak to yourself. So say you're very concerned about an exam or a presentation you have to give at work, or a house move or a job move, something with lots of possible ways it can go wrong. What you say to yourself is this: what if it all went well? What if it all went well? And then you imagine A good result. You think about how proud you'd feel, your sense of accomplishment, your sense of achievement if this all goes well. And you're not trying to minimize the difficulties or challenges, you still have to face them, but it gives you renewed motivation. It can overcome some of your anxiety, and you can imagine a better future where this has happened and you're feeling proud of your accomplishment. So it helps you cope with anxiety and depression. So the next time you're really anxious about, worried about something, then say to yourself, what if it all went well?
