It's time for the summer hiatus here at the Podcast Partnership. We're closing down season four, getting ready for season five and all the other great things the summer will bring. Show notes, links, conversation and more@the podcastreport.com 129 okay, that's probably the last time. Unless of course, you make it to the end where you will hear the swish noise, the sound bite, the tonal transition, if you will, for season four of the Podcast Report. This is the last episode of season four. Unless, of course, Apple does something wacky. And I'll chat about that in a second. We've got a new format coming. It'll be a new standard, It'll be a new process. Of course I will share behind the scenes why we're doing it, what we're doing, how things are different. Two big things to tell you goodbye Ads. No more ads. No more Patreon. It's going to be a show that supports the Podcast Partnership while it supports you. You the podcaster launch date don't have one for you yet. I'll give you a clue though. It's when it makes sense for the new show to come out. Now, as I said a little bit earlier, it's unless Apple does something wacky. And I've got a link in the show Notes if you go to the podcastreport.com129 whenever somebody big makes a big announcement, a lot of times the competition will do something interesting to kind of try to take away from some of the excitement. And, and what's interesting is there was some podcast subscription code discovered in the Google Beta app. I've got a link to the article on that over again@the podcastreport.com 129 why does that matter? Well, next week is WWDC, the Worldwide Developer Conference 17 2017. There have been rumors that there's going to be podcast stuff. There's been talk that there's going to be podcast stuff. I don't know if there's going to be podcast stuff and if there is, I reserve the right to have a special episode 130 as we close out the season here. But again, we're getting ready for the summer. So if nothing big happens, this is the last one. If something big does happen, we'll go from there. If you are listening to this before the WWDC announcements and you've got a tip, would love to hear from you. All the social things work the podcastreport.com Facebook thepodcastreport.com Twitter thepodcastreport.com 129 One of the things I'm doing this summer is I have two massive client launches. One of them will happen for sure this summer. The other one we're waiting to make sure again, the timing is right. And boy, that's a key in podcasting. Launch when the timing's right. If you follow me on social, you'll hear about both of these. When these happen, it's going to be interesting. We're going to do a number one run. I think we've got a really good chance of seeing it. We're not going to be cheating itunes. If you've been following me online, I've been doing a lot of investigative work on the cheating itunes process. A lot of folk are. A lot of folk are. Yeah. Who knows, maybe that is why the announcement that itunes has coming getting one step ahead of the cheaters, getting one step ahead of the problems. That might be it. This will be a true podcast launch. This will be a high profile podcast launch. And if you follow me on social, you'll get to watch all of this happen. Obviously this will be one of the topics of episode whatever inside of season five. One of the big events of the year is of course podcast movement. Missed last year, thrilled to be going this year in August in Anaheim, California. I've got a link to that in the show notes again, the podcastreport.com129 they were kind enough to give a coupon code. It's not an affiliate type of situation, but it's a coupon code and you get 10% off. And right now tickets are over 400 bucks for the cheap one. So that's 40, 50 bucks. That is at the very least a dinner. So please use the coupon code and join me at Podcast Movement. One of the things I'm going to be doing there. Well, the main thing I'm doing is presenting and the presentation is going to be very different than anything you've seen me do before. I have always been there for the podcast to help the idea of logistics and monetization and marketing. But the. Well, the official title for my presentation is Getting on Amazon Echo, Google Home and more. And what this is is this is a presentation on getting your podcast on on the smart devices. The Amazon Echo is getting bigger and bigger in importance and the Google home is actually impressing me more than the Amazon Echo is, at least at the time of the recording. But the connected speaker industry is interesting. It's less complicated. You speak with your voice. You don't have to download apps There are all sorts of things you don't have to do. It's an interesting place. But at the end of the presentation, not only will you know why you need to do it, what the options are, what the industry means, but I will walk you through. It's a special live demonstration, step by step, of getting your podcast on the Echo and getting your podcast on the Google Home and any new tech that comes up between now and then. I have this show as an Amazon app. They call it a skill. I'll put a link to that in the show notes the podcastreport.com 129 and I am in Google podcasts as well on the Google Home. If you'd like to review the Amazon app, I would love that. Bring that up the charts a little bit and it will help what's going on there. So that's Podcast Movement. Hope to see you there. Plenty of you will be there. It'll be great to see some friends inducted in the Podcasting hall of Fame. It'll be great to be across the street from Disneyland and not feeling bad that I'm not going. It's gonna be a good time. Can't wait to see you there. Now, in the world of podcast events is an event called PodCon. It's by the same guys, the Green brothers, who did VidCon. I went to VidCon 1, an amazing event, not competition to all elements of podcast movement. PodCon is an event where you go to see your favorite podcasters perform. Now, there's definitely some elements of that at Podcast Movement, but there aren't going to be the classes on business and production. And certainly getting your show on Echo and Google podcan is not a sure thing, for lack of a better term, because podcon is being indiegogoed right now. And I've got a link to that in the notes. I'll tell you this, a sponsorship of podcon. And by the way, if you want to see the potential for this show, take a look at what they've done with VidCon over the years. But a sponsorship of PodCon is 900 bucks. I grabbed the very first one. We'll be promoting the book and we'll be promoting the course there. And I think it's a great deal. You don't have to attend this one. There'll be virtual tickets anyway. Visit podcon, support them. The Green brothers are fantastic. And more things that makes our industry exciting is great. The next thing that's coming out, the next thing I want to discuss is the book. Now you remember I released how to podcast 2015 and I released how to podcast 2016 and well, here we are now in I'm recording this a few hours before June of 2017. The new version of the book needs to come out. I'm not going to call it how to podcast 2017 and unlike some of your suggestions, I am not going to be calling it how to podcast 2018 and just jumping ahead. It's going to be back to straight how to Podcast. We'll start doing volume numbers. The idea is to keep this more like what to expect when you're expecting or something like that. With the latest information, there's no need to do this year by year. At this point, like all my books, there's going to be a bonus pack. We're going to have a lot of great stuff if you register the book and should be a fun time, including a launch day webinar from an undisclosed live location here in Portland, Oregon. If you're able to get this on the day of release, that will be a lot of fun. If you get it after that, you'll get the recording of it will have a bunch of fun things in the bonus pack. Those will all be in the book and they'll be in the promotion of the book when it comes out. When you do grab the book, make sure to register it and make sure that you're on the list for all the stuff because there will be the bonuses that come with and additional stuff. And because I won't be updating this every year as new information about the podcasting space, specifically how to Podcast comes out, that will go out to everybody who has registered the book. So make sure that is you make sure you register when you grab the book. Now you notice I keep saying grab the book over and over again. You can actually pre order the new version of the book@grabthebook.com if you have a previous version of the book and you have registered that previous version of the book. Hold on, you don't want to preorder it yet. I've got a special little offer for you. But if this is going to be your first version of the how to Podcast book, go ahead, head out to grabthebook.com and you'll be able to pre register at Amazon, Kindle and should, should, should be fun. So that's the book. Let's talk the next product. Adam Curry, Adam Curry's Podcaster Pro, which is definitely in the book. We chat about it in the book. Adam Curry Many of you know, but many of you don't. Adam Curry, to make a very long story short, was one of the inventors of podcasting. He's been podcasting wouldn't happen without the guy. And he's been a icon in the industry. He's been a mover and a shaker in the industry. He's done a lot of great things for the industry. What's really is he has a new product called the Podcaster Pro. And for lack of a better description, and I definitely want you to head out to the podcastreport.com129 and I've got a link to that. This also is an indiegogo campaign. Not only am I proud of what Adam's doing, but my friend Gene is working on that as well. This is a box that you plug an XLR mic into. Not a USB mic, but a traditional, traditional XLR mic. The kind of mics that you get at the guitar shop or that kind of thing. And then it does all the stuff that makes you sound good. Does the compressor limiter, does the equalization, does the noise gate gives you that sound that used to cost thousands of dollars. Now, you know me, I've always been the proponent that the content is more important than the sound. But at this level of price, at this ease of use, at this opportunity, you'd be a fool not to get one of them right now. They've got a special for the first people who buy 100 of them. Can't believe these haven't been bought up yet. You can grab that. You can grab signature editions for some of your favorite podcasters. You can also grab a version that comes bundled with a discount ticket to podcast movement. And the savings there would actually be better than my 10% code. So if you're going to do that, do that. I can't wait to get my hands on my box. I can't wait to start integrating into it. We will launch season five before the box comes, but very, very exciting about that and I wanted to make sure you knew about that. The company small batch audio is good to go. The question that come is which one? They're all, for all sakes and purposes, they are the main device. They are the same device. There are some signature editions. You can get one with Todd Cochran's name on the side or Mike Koenig's name on the side or Brian Brushwood. Of course, I can't remember any of the others. Podcast Movement is another one. You can get those for extra. You can get an Adam Curr that includes Adam doing a station ID for your show. There's a whole the irony I'm appreciating the irony of last episode being about how we don't want to market to the podcasters yet. One of the best selling models of this is the original podcaster doing the promo for a show like this. That might mean something, but for the average person, they don't know who Adam Curry is. They don't care. Probably a shame if you will, but that's the situation. So get whichever one you want. If you want to pay extra to get yours early, that's great. It'll be a couple of months. If you want to get a signature edition and support that person, that's great. But get in now. They are shipping these as they come in and that is enough. About the Podcaster Pro the course Many of you have asked, reached out. I've gotten several to the support desk. I've gotten some email. When does how to Podcast Training fully launch? We've got about 130 people in there right now running through the course. Very happy with it, very excited with it. It is basically not. Basically it is my four steps that I've been teaching and how to podcast for the last couple of years now with the book, it's step by step. It's over eight hours of video that walk you through everything, screen capture me at a big event, all sorts of different things. It's all there. When you're listening to this. Since this episode is going to be up all summer, it might be open now. If it's not, you can head out to howtopodcasttraining.com and you can get yourself on the waiting list. The other thing that's kind of interesting, another project I'm working on and I'm going to be very, very nonspecific here, but speaking of Adam Curry and the early days of podcasting, another mainstay, another exciting element of the early days of podcasting was in a website called podcast pickle in 2006. Over 10 years ago, time magazine listed Podcast Pickle is one of the most fascinating websites of the year with a couple of other no names like I think Facebook was on that list. Podcast Pickle was a player in the early days. It was good for all the podcasters. There was a bunch of tools and services for them. Well, I'm proud to say Podcast Pickle is coming back. Version two is going to be very significant. The main details will be at the Podcast Movement event, but if you want to get on the early bird mailing list and get some of the early bird opportunities, if you head out to podcastpickle.com, you can get your name on that mailing address. If there's anything you would love to see in the new version of Podcast Pickle, feel free to reach out to me on Twitter or on Facebook and or even the podcastreport.com119 and let me know. So between now and the launch of season five, please reach out on social thepodcastreport.com Twitter thepodcastreport.com Facebook I've enjoyed Twitter a lot lately. If you want to make a comment on the website, head out to the podcastreport.com 12 9. You can also email me at the podcastreportoutlook.com if you want to catch me at Podcast Movement. I'd love to shake your hand. Love to chat podcasting with you. I'd love to chat the real business of podcasting with you. Of course, if you want to pick up the book, head out to grabthebook.com if you want to pick up the how to Podcast training, you do that@howtopodcasttraining.com so between now and season five. Unless of course Apple does something wacky next week, which is entirely possible. This is Paul Culligan. This is the Podcast Report. Can't wait to hear how you are doing real business with your podcast.
