#291: How to Support Restful Sleep Without Side Effects Using Homeopathy with Dr Payam Hakimi from Boiron
31 Jan 2023 · 40 min
Dr. Payam Hakimi, a board-certified family physician, explains why homeopathic remedies like Boiron's Sleep Calm work for restful sleep without the side effects of melatonin or botanical aids. Gummy melatonin poses safety risks, especially for children, while homeopathy offers a non-dependent alternative.

Sleep is important for all of us because that's how the body heals itself. When we sleep, it's the time that the body heals itself. We know that we need it to regenerate our hormones, the brain, physiology, hormones. So if we're adding a hormone to the body, we're going to change the physiology. We're going to force some changes in the body as opposed to a homeopathic medication that will encourage the body to get something done without necessarily forcing it. Homeopathy is using natural substances in very minimal amounts or very diluted medication, natural substance which helps the body physiology to do so. And it doesn't have any side effects, they don't cause any dependence, which is the most important thing because a lot of the sleep medications, as you know, actually start causing dependence.

Now, before we begin, I'd like to take a few minutes to thank our podcast partners for this season Kneaded Active Skin Repair and Paleo Valley and share why I love each of them. Let's start with Kneaded. Who hasn't wondered what nutrition products they need at every stage of the journey to become a mama? It is one of the top questions that Steph and I get from the doctor Moms community and why I'm so excited to share About Needed's Trimester Plans nedid's five trimester plans are designed for the five distinct phases of the perinatal journey the zero trimest or time of preconception, the first, second, third and fourth trimesters. Now the plan builds off of Needed's complete plan. Your optimal baseline support of comprehensive multivitamin and mineral, your vegan omega 3 and your tailored pre and probiotic that supports gut and vaginal health and an ethically and sustainable source collagen protein. But what changes by plan are the add ons that are needed by each stage? Now I love this approach because some products are best taken at specific stages like CoQ10 when trying to conceive or the hydration support during the first trimester, nausea or sleep support in the second and third trimesters and stress support and extra vitamin D postpartum, while others, like the four products that compromise the NEAT's complete plan should stay consistent through the perinatal years. Needed's trimester plans are the optimal way to nourish your body through every stage of the perinatal journey and the best way to save your monthly supplement needs now. To get started, visit ThisIsNeeded.com and use code DoctorMom100 for $100 off the first three months of your trimest. Now, since using active Skin repair for my family, I recently started using the active skin repair Baby spray or hydrogel as a way to treat and prevent diaper rash in my baby. I spray it on her bum bum. SHE GIGGLES we have a moment. And the diaper goes on. Now, diaper rashes can be caused by a host of factors from chafing or rubbing, irritating the skin, prolonged exposure to urine or stool irritating the skin, or even from fungal infections, bacterial infections. The list goes on. And this is why spraying active skin repair can help with all of these different skin irritations. Now, because it is completely non toxic and medical grade technology, it's safe to spray around your ears, eyes, mouth, that is definitely makes it safe enough to spray on a baby's bum bum too. Now ASR is offering a combo pack to try both their spray and their hydrogel. So you can decide which one you like better. Now for 20% off on any ASR product, use code doctormom visit their website@bldgactive.com that is BLD active for 20 off. And now you can use HSA or FSA funds too. Let us know how you love it.
Hello, thank you so much for joining us. You have a very busy practice. Okay so. And it's just so nice for you to take the time and to be here today. I think sleep is such an important topic, kiddos, for adults, for everyone, you know. So this is going to be really neat to be able to dive into how natural therapies can really help, especially homeopathy, which happens to be one of my favorite natural therapies. So we'll go into that. But before we do, we always start off with nourish yourself segment. We like to inspire self care over here to our mama. So what did you do today to nurse yourself or what do you plan to do to nurse yourself?
The most important thing for me is stretching actually because as part of my practice I do osteopathy as well. And as you know, our joints and our muscles and tendons, you know, we sit down a lot, we stand up a lot, we do a lot of different things and then we don't necessarily take care of our body as much. So stretching is a very important thing because I see it in my practice, people who stretch really Good. Or they have a yoga or Pilates or something that has a lot of stretching in it. Get into joint and muscle and tendon problems much less than people who don't get enough, you know, time to do that. So I tell people, if you don't have time, two minutes in the morning, two minutes at night, right? As soon as you wake up, right. As soon as you go to bed, if you have time, spend more time on it.
Great. I love that. And you know us moms, we're on the floor a lot with our babies doing tummy time. That's like, the perfect time to just stretch, right? Or even thinking about changing a diaper, like, making it a routine. Okay, I just changed the diaper. Now let's just do a quick stretch. So I like to kind of think about it like that. My husband owns a gym. He's a fitness movement fanatic. So he's always on the foam roller. He's always stretching. He's on his bands doing stuff. So my kids even look at it like, let's all do this together. So I think making it like a family thing is really special, too. I agree.
Yeah.
Yeah. Now maybe I'll share what I did to nurse myself and actually has to do with fitness. But I'm now three months postpartum as we were recording, and I'm just, like, so craving movement. You know, movement's always been a part of my life, but, you know, I was very slow and steady after having the baby. It's very important to not push too fast. But I've had this, like, fascination learning kettlebells, which is interesting. I wouldn't have thought that that was something that I would be attracted to, but I really want to feel strong. You know, I've kids. You're picking them up, you're loading them in cars. You're really active with these kids. And I want to feel like a strong mom. That's just important to me. And I was very drawn to kettlebells because they're small. You can have them in the house. You could do them, you know, right at home. So I want to learn proper form so I don't get injured. I want to understand how to move. And my husband is so excited, if you can imagine, because he's such a fitness guy. The fact that I came to him saying I want to learn kettlebells was really fun. And so far, I'm loving it. It's been a new exercise form for me, and I'm really exc. To start it and see where it takes me. So that's kind of what I've been doing to nourish myself.
Good, good. Yeah, that sounds fantastic.
Thank you. All right, so let's dive in because homeopathy, it's truly one of my favorite natural medicines. And I think both of us, we've been trained to learn a lot of different therapies for you. In particular, you've been conventionally trained, you're an osteopathic doctor, so very, very heavy in conventional model. But you've learned so much about integrative therapies that now your practice is completely an integrative approach. You know, stem cell therapy, iv, the. I mean, the list goes on. But homeopathy sounds like it's a love of yours because you even teach other practitioners. You teach chiropractors, you teach nurse practitioners, you teach a lot of people about homeopathy. So that's why you were just such a great guest to bring in, because you have a great deal of respect for other modalities and you know that there's a time and a place for when homeopathy can really shine. And I think with sleep, it really can shine. So just first give us a little idea how you even got so interested in homeopathy with such a conventionally medically trained background.
So I was the chief resident at a family medicine program at usc and part of the chief residency is to plan lunchtime meetings where you bring in, you know, the pharmaceutical companies to provide lunch and then talk to you about medications. And I think I decided I'm going to do something different for my residents. And the plan was to teach them other, other things. I gave them a lecture on osteopathy and they loved it. We had a person who was doing raw eating raw. We had an acupuncturist. And then I noticed that once I have my own practice, which is going to be an alternative medicine type, back then I was thinking it's going to be more osteopathy and supplements and IV nutrition. But if my patients are coming to me to heal their body and take care of their pain and aches naturally, they probably don't want me to give them that muscle relaxer or the pain medication or the anti inflammatory. They want me to do something natural. So I got interested in homeopathy and I brought in for my residence this homeopathic lecture and, and I was so fascinated with it. That same day I signed up for the course, which is a course that I teach now, as a matter of fact, we teach doctors, as you mentioned, and residents and medical Students, nurses, chiropractors. And so it was love at first sight. It was, it was. For me, it was like, wow, this is what I need to add to my practice so that I can actually cover a medication to be given to my patients after their osteopathic treatments or, you know, through balancing hormones or anything else. We need something else that will keep the job. And. And that's how the fascination with homeopathy started.
Great. I love it. And you know, I have a similar experience when I was in my naturopathic medical school and they taught me this. I was like, this can't be. It was almost too good to be true. I was very skeptical at first. I think you probably were too, especially coming from a conventional standpoint. But then when you see success after success and improvement, you're just like, you can't deny it. It's such a beautiful. I would call it more of an energetic medicine. I like to put in the same categories like acupuncture in that way. Sometimes you don't understand the mechanism of action. But we also don't understand the mechanism of action for dozens of drugs out there. So all we know is that it does help and improve symptoms and so in a very safe and gentle way. And so it's in a very affordable way. So it's just such a great tool to have. So. Well, thank you for being here. This will be fun.
Of course.
So first we're going to talk about the topic of sleep. We could talk about many topics, but today we're going to talk about sleep. And maybe we could just start off by just explaining why is sleep so important for children and their parents?
Oh my God. So sleep is important for all of us because that's how the body heals itself. 7. When we sleep is the time that the body heals. So we know that we needed to regenerate our hormones, the brain physiology, hormones. We know that certain hormones like the testosterone growth hormone are being released sort of towards the morning, the sort of three, four o' clock in the morning, five o' clock in the morning. And we know all of that happens if we sleep properly. And if you change the sleep or the hour of sleep, we always see that being affected. The hormones are going to be affected, our emotions are going to be affected, our brain physiology is going to be affected and we're going to have problem with focus, attention, mood. So our behavior changes, emotions change as well as for kids and they're physically growing. Imagine you take away a big part of their growth which happens during the night. As they sleep. And so we know it affects them physically, emotionally and physiologically. So it's very important for, for both kids and also their parents to get enough sleep so that as you mentioned, grab them and take them to different places. And you know, you go from school to martial arts studio and then you go to a piano studio probably. So it's, it's like. Well, to handle all of that, you need that much energy to be able to, you know, focus on that.
Yeah, absolutely. And you know, it's hard because as a, as a mom myself, kids are waking up, you know, whether they're babies or whether they're toddlers or, you know, when they go through different milestones, they're just, they have disturbed sleep. And so this can affect the entire family. I mean, it truly is. And sometimes when they're hitting different, like regressions, it can be weeks on end where a toddler could be waking up in the middle of the night or a baby of course, or even like a school age child. I mean, this happens a lot. And so I just think it is important that we are at least aware of the benefits, but also realize that there are tools out there that can help everyone and not to be too hard on ourselves because it's like just expect interrupted sleep as a parent and just know that there are ways to get back into deep sleep. And it's not like if you just don't get sleep one night, you're all your health is impaired forever. There's things that we could do to help recover and to restore your circadian rhythm, but there are more gentle approaches. So it actually has me kind of dive into a little bit about melatonin because I so often hear the first thing that parents will grab from a natural perspective is melatonin, as if it's like the wonder drug. It's going to help put my kid to sleep. They're not going to sleep or they keep on waking up in the middle of the night or I need melatonin to sleep. And I don't want to bash it completely. I think there's a time and a place. But I would love to hear a little bit about your experience with melatonin and also if you've noticed sleep issues or even misconceptions about using melatonin for these reasons.
So I think melatonin is, is a great molecule and I use it with my adult practice all the time. But as you said, there's a time and a place for, for things. So even melatonin use of melatonin for Me is sort of put only into the time that a person needs it, and then once they don't need it, we need to remove it. Same as anything else. You know, we give supplements. And melatonin is not the only one. Obviously you're aware of it. It's passion flower, valerian roots, and, you know, chamomile and magnesium. There's so many different things we can do. 5 HTP GABA LTHEAN. I mean, there's so many ingredients that we can use to help our patient get to a good night's sleep. And we use those and, and a lot of time I use them in combination, so I can use very minimal amount of all of these things, including melatonin.
Great.
Melatonin has amazing research that shows actually that it helps in certain conditions. There are conditions like cancer that, that they research with melatonin to see if it's helping or not. Prostate cancer, breast cancer. There, there's a lot of research going on. We know that it helps diabetes, we know that, you know, during COVID we were all told, add melatonin to that selenium and zinc and vitamin D and vitamin C and everything else that you're taking. Because we know that it also helps the immune system. But the problem comes from the fact that we think it's a natural agent. Because it's naturally occurring in my body. We also think it's a natural agent that I'm going to be given. Unfortunately, a lot of melatonin that's out there is chemically driven and sort of synthetically made. So number one, it's not so natural. As we, number two, with adult population and their height and weight, we have almost figured out the dosages that they can take. Is it 3 milligram, 1.5 milligrams, 6 milligrams? So we figured out that's the area that we're going to start. We're going to start at lower dose and then go up a little bit higher and see where they get comfortable and then we're good. With kids, we still have not established a specific dosage that will help. And definitely we don't know the toxic dosage as well because we don't know where, where is this going to cause toxicity in their body. The other thing is with adults, we've already sort of, our brain physiology has, has already gotten to a point where our brain has developed our mood, our nervous system and everything else has developed sort of brain physiology. Molecules to growing kids should be sort of warranted sort of evaluation and proper evaluation because we gain melatonin, which is a brain physiology hormone to a developing brain. We have to make sure that this in the future is not going to cause any problems. And we still don't have enough data. Melatonin has not been out there for kids for 20 years is for us to see. Well, these are the kids that 20 years ago took melatonin. Are they better or has melatonin caused any problem for them? So we don't know it yet. So we have to be very cautious when we're using something like melatonin.
It's really a great perspective. I really hear you with. As adults our brains are pretty well formed, right? Of course there's neuroplasticity and things can change. But with these kids it is imminent that we are having a huge growth in brain development from the time that they're an infant to even as old as, you know, I don't know the number off the top of my head, but easily into teenage years, if not even young adulthood. So this is a really important, I think, population to study with it. And I think that's why we're also seeing more and more research or excuse me, in the news and media showing we're getting overdose with these kiddos because we don't yet know that dosage and that can actually be fatal for some. Now I don't want to scare any moms or families who have already been using melatonin successfully, maybe for that individual child, it's working for them. But just be maybe open minded so that there could be some other options that we just know are safer and more gentle. And one of those are homeopathy. You did mention some botanical medicines like valerian, Passiflora, lemon balm. These are great. These are botanical formulas, but they're actually applied very differently than homeopathic formulas. And maybe you can explain the difference between what in the body does homeopathy do versus just even a melatonin or a botanical formula.
Of course. So when we give, let's say melatonin to someone with a specific milligram dosage, we're creating a concentration of that chemical in their body. And that chemical will affect a receptor. Let's say in cases of melatonin, I think there are different receptors. One of them can be a GABA receptor that is going to have an effect on and because of the effect on those specific receptors, they're going to have a specific physiological change. So if I want to put that in, into a little bit easier terms, I'm going to say we're going to use a chemical to make brain do something. So we're basically almost forcing something to happen at a certain point. The difference between a supplement like Melatonin or Gabriel and a homeopathic medication is in homeopathy, a substance which is natural has been diluted multiple factors, multiple times to the point that there is minimal amount of that substance left in that specific medication. And once we use that in our body, we're actually helping the body. We're encouraging the body, body to get something done. So I think of it as we're forcing the brain to do something as opposed to we're encouraging the body to get something done. And I usually go for the encouragement more than I go for force, because when you bring force, you're affecting other things in the body. We know that physiology has many different pathways, many different chemical reactions. There are positive feedback loops and negative feedback loops and, and affect one of the hormones. We're not only affecting that one hormone, we're affecting a lot of the different hormones that are linked or somehow connected in these loops with this specific hormone. So if we're adding a hormone to the body, we're going to change the physiology, we're going to force some changes in the body as opposed to homeopathic medication that will encourage the body to get something done without necessarily forcing.
Great.
I love that.
And this is why I'm so drawn obviously to homeopathy as well, is you have to have trust in the body to stimulate the healing process. And we all have that in us. We just need a certain, you know, the correct remedy in order to give that stimulation. And with kids, they react so quickly. We just need to find that right remedy. Okay, so that's kind of where we need to do it, especially as moms to really observe the child, figure out their symptoms. I teach a lot about homeopathy to my doctor mom, so they understand these concepts. But I love that you're saying how pharmaceuticals or even some health food supplements can really force some pathways. Whereas homeopathy encourages or stimulates the body to do the work on its own. So it's going to take the journey however it needs to which we can trust. And I really, really love that.

Maybe we can go into a little bit of why are supplements in gummy form like melatonin problematic? Because we see gummies all the time marketed to kids, right? It's compliant, they love it, they'll eat it. But why are some of these gummies something that we should maybe look out for?
Don't you love the gummies? They taste good, they look good, they smell good, right? Here you go after it. It's like, why not, right? And that is the part of the problem. And you know, in martial arts we say your strengths are your weaknesses and your weaknesses are your strengths. Here we have something that looks good, tastes good and smells good. And somehow when a parent gives a gummy to the kid, you know, the parent is sort of satisfied that they're going to take this gummy and they're going to fall asleep. So there's almost a positive, positive energy that's going into it. A positive reinforcement of, you know, have this, this is good for you, or you know, taste it. And then the kid has that gummy and they like it. Obviously we have seen over the last 10 years multiple issues with kids going to hospital because of the fact that they like this gummy and they reached for it and, and they took a little bit more than they should have. And because of the physiological changes that it created in the body. They were taken to a doctor or they were taken to an emergency room just so that, you know, they make sure there's nothing bad going on with the baby. And obviously in a lot of cases, nothing bad has happened. Obviously this is something that comes out of the body and, you know, the effect goes away. Except a couple of cases that have been, you know, a little bit worse. But so we have, have given the kids permission almost to use this because it's a positive thing. It's a positive reinforcement thing. We look at that and then on the other side, we look at the fillers, the sugar, the coloring, the extra collagen, the extra fillers that's coming into this gummy. And we're giving all of that to a kid. And we think that it's a natural thing we're going to give this kid because now they're going to have melatonin, they're going to fall asleep. But in essence, we're also giving them the sugar and everything else that's in there. So we're giving them melatonin to help them sleep, but then the sugar is going to bring them up at the same time. So even if they fall asleep, it's not going to be a good sleep. Unless some people say, well, you know, some of these gummies have sweeteners that are not sugar necessarily, necessarily, but those specific sweeteners, although they're not sugar, the problem with them is a lot of them are use citric acid bases. And what that does, staying in their mouth at night is going to change and cause damage to the teeth and the enamel and all that, which is going to cause further issues in the future. And we also know that these non sugar sweeteners actually affect the body just like sugar. We know that, you know, they cause diabetes, they cause heart issues, and everything else that comes from the sugar because. Because the brain does not see the difference between the two. So it's important to remember all of these things when we're, when we're giving our kids a gummy for them, you know, to help them fall asleep.
Right. All right, thanks for reviewing that. And maybe what I would love to know is like, maybe a mom's like, okay, I got it. I don't want to do melatonin. So what are my homeopathic options? You know, I teach my moms pretty much that there are single remedies, okay. That we can try to match to the kid's case, or there are these combination remedies and combinations remedies. I think Boron has done a great job with their Sleep Calm line to offer both kids and adults there. Or then there's the single ones. Can you speak a little bit about the advantages of doing something like this and how a mom could navigate those options?
Of course, yes. So the single remedies, as you know, we say each medication is used for a specific symptomatology. And that's what homey pathos homeopathy is, which means similar suffering. So if someone is having a specific type of symptom or symptomatology, we're going to give them a homeopathic medication that's going to help with that specific symptomatology. So there is a choice of either using one homeopathic medication. And as you mentioned, there a lot like a medication for or someone who has a hard time falling asleep because they're excited. Someone who you bought your kid a new toy or a bicycle. And now for the next week, they're not going to sleep because they're excited. I want to get up and go use the toy, right. Or I want to go to Disneyland. We're going to Disneyland next week. And they can't sleep that week because they're so excited about it, right? Then we have the kid who falls asleep and wakes up in the middle the middle of the night and cannot go back to sleep. We have the kid who wakes up in the middle of the night because they got startled and they woke up and you know, they're crying and then you calm them down. But now they're hyper, they're revved up and they can't go back to sleep. And then you have the plane. I had a bad dream and there was a night terror and I woke up and I can't fall back asleep because I'm scared someone is in my room. And then there's the kid who feels there's something underneath their bed and they can't fall asleep because there's something there that's. That's sort of fear, you know, causing a lot of fear. Right. So all of these things have their own specific medication that can be used. However, one of the things that, if I'm saying it print properly has done is that they have put multiple of these medications into do the sleep call for kids. And so it's very easy to just use one medication and cover all of those things. And in that case, you're helping the kid who has a hard time falling asleep or is excited or wakes up in the middle of the night all to fall asleep and stay asleep. And so they get their good night's sleep and once they wake up in the morning, they're more refreshed than they would be if, if they woke up multiple times during the, the night. So a lot of the times we start even as patients that come into my office, it's sometimes it's hard to say, well, is it, is it the baby that doesn't fall asleep or wakes up? And sometimes the parents tell you might be both, they might have a hard time falling asleep one night and the other night they wake up in the middle of the night. So once you give them sleep calm, you're covering all of those symptomatologies. So, so it's easy just to use one medication and have peace of mind knowing that the baby is going to sleep properly.
Great. That was a great description. Thank you so much. And the great thing about this is you don't have to worry about overdosing or taking too much or one time, my two year old at that time, she got into a whole vial of homeopathic remedy and I didn't freak out. It's like, okay, well it was a waste of money, it's a waste of medicine, but you don't have to worry about as if compared to if she got into a whole bottle of melatonin, I would have been calling poison control and going right to the er. So a very different type of experience. Well, wonderful. I really appreciate your wisdom, your experience. Was there anything else that you wanted to share with us about this topic?
I think I'll go more into homeopathy because that is, as you said, I teach physicians and I'm actually one of the physicians who has taken homeopathy to, to medical conferences.
Great.
And now I see that actually physicians are very much open to it as well. And, and you know, from the questions I get, as well as from the support that I get afterwards, which is doctors actually talking about it and wanting to know more because their patients are using homeopathy and you know, they don't know what homeopathy necessarily is. So it's a little bit scary to, to use it as a physician if you don't know what it is. So homeopathy is using natural substances in very minimal amounts or very diluted medication, natural substance which helps the body of physiology to do something. So one of the things that's important is it's not going to make anyone groggy and it's not going to make anyone wired. So it's a medication that's going to help help. It's like if you have headache and you take Tylenol, Tylenol will help. But if you take Tylenol when you don't have headache, it's not going to do anything. So it's going to work and it doesn't have any side effects. We have not seen any side effects in my practice from any homeopathic medications. And the side effect profile is very low in homeopathy. Number two, it's a medication. Homeopathic medications can be used with other medications. That means, means there's no interaction with anything else. So if your kid is having, let's say that night they have a cough and you've given them, you know, a cough medication, giving them a homeopathic medication is not going to cause any, any other issues. It's just going to help them, in this case, sleep. You could also give them a homeopathic cough medication, make life easy. But so they don't interact with any, any medications, they don't cause any side effects. They're natural and they don't make anyone groggy. They don't cause any dependence, which is the most important thing because a lot of the sleep medications, as you know, they actually start causing dependence because if you don't get it then, then the body reacts. With homeopathic medications, we don't have the dependence issue as well. And that's why it's the sort of number one medication that gets prescribed. In my practice I actually have, have a shelf of homeopathic medications so I hand them out with my patients with all the treatments. And as you said, it's done amazing with a lot of my patients, including cases where some illness or some physiological change, where even conventional medicine tried and could not succeed. Sometime with homeopathic medication, we can actually change that and we can make patients feel better. So it's been amazing and obviously I recommend it to all my patients and to all doctors, doctors to start using it with their patients.
Well, I appreciate the education that you do. I can assume for many medical trained doctors it's a whole different way of approaching medicine. It's really what I see is like a paradigm shift of how does this really work or what do we do? They're so allopathically minded, meaning they give something that causes something and they see effects from it. Whereas with homeopathy it's just a much more vitalistic type of approach. And I think it's great that they're more open minded and I find that a lot of patients are going and asking about this so they need to be aware of it. So they know contraindications and such. I find it much harder to prescribe health food supplements, I call them, and herbal medicines because there are contraindications with some of those versus homeopathy. We don't get any of those. So it's just much easier. It's so nice for the practitioner to be able to do, which is why I feel like moms should feel comfortable, especially with acute type of illnesses, to be able to use them at home with their. With their children. Children safely. Yeah, it's wonderful. Wonderful. Okay, so where can a mom maybe find more about you? I know that you're in the Beverly Hills area, is that right? But you also have a clinic in Florida. Tell us a little bit more about if. If a listener is just looking for either a practitioner or whatever other offerings that you have.
So I. I trained physicians in Los Angeles area, and I also trained physicians in the Fort Lauderdale, the Miami area as well. So. So we do have a lot of amazing physicians in the Florida area. We have a lot of amazing people in Los Angeles area. And we should. I work with cedh, which is center for Education and Development of Clinical Homeopathy. And we train doctors throughout the United States to be able to add homeopathic sort of practice. So if they want my information, it's body of harmony. We have, you know, they can download our app and all the information is there. Even some homeopathic information is there. Or they can get in touch with us through our Instagram or our website.
Perfect. And I'll put all of that in my show notes so they can click on it. I think more and more, you know, parents want integrative doctors. And so it's just such a service that you're doing, not only practicing yourself, but also teaching other practitioners. So thank you so much and thank you for your time here today.
Well, I also want to thank you for, number one, giving me this Tribune. But also I was looking at your website and the amazing thing that you're doing with teaching moms how to be their own doctors and how to take control in their hands, as well as to know how many different modalities there's. I mean, I looked at your website. There's homeopathics, there's supplements, there's everything. And this is something that I want every mother, every parent to know. And they use this because you've created an amazing, amazing portal for a lot of amazing information.
Thank you. I appreciate that so much. And it really came from experience of mom after mom after mom coming into my practice, worried and anxious and overwhelmed and thinking to myself, you can do this. You know, I feel so blessed with my education that I'm a calm mom when my kids get sick. You know, I know my tools. I know how to use them safely. I also really know when it's time to go see a doctor. And I appreciate doctors. Right. I'm a licensed doctor myself, so I just thought I had to teach these moms. I need them to feel empowered because it feels so good to feel empowered. Right. Ourselves, but even more so, our kids see us, they see our anxiety, they feel our anxiety, they see us panicking. And I really wanted to create this environment where kids could see their confident moms, you know, feeling empowered, being able to help them, and then know when they needed the support to go to the doctor. So thank you so much, much. It's truly a blessing and I love what I get to do, so I appreciate it.
