This is Professor Pete Alexander with the Winning at Business and Life podcast, where business leaders share their insights. It is 6 questions in 7 minutes because successful business leaders are busy and rarely have more time to spare. So let's get to it. Question number 1: In a few sentences, please tell me who you are and what you do.
Hi there, I am Bree Gunn. I am a business strategist and I help my clients write the words that make the sales.
Well, Bree, it's an absolute pleasure to have you on the show. Question number 2: What is something that makes you smile and/or laugh about working in your industry?
Thank you for having me. Um, the thing that makes me smile or laugh about my industry is all the people who call themselves copywriters. And really have no clue what they're doing.
I can imagine that, and I've experienced that myself, so I can appreciate it. Question number 3: I have a fictitious book with all the answers for business. What chapter would you think most companies should read?
I think most companies should read the chapter about leadership.
Hmm, okay. You want to expand upon that a little bit?
I think that leadership and the dynamics of leadership are paramount of importance to entrepreneurship and growing a viable business. Especially as you grow and scale, you need a team. You don't know how to lead, team fails, business fails, everything goes bad.
Mm-hmm. Absolutely. Very well said. Question number 4, other than the generic work harder, have a great attitude, and care for customers, what advice or insight would you give to other business leaders?
Remember, human beings are human beings. Treat people like people and build relationships. Most people spend their time selling and forget that we are all human. And if we can put relationship first in everything from content content, to copy, to marketing, to advertising, then the world will be a much better place.
And I would think the way that you describe it, it would also add to the trust that you have with the other, whether it's a customer, a prospect, uh, you know, a family member, what have you. Am I, am I correct?
I know, like, trust factor matters a whole heck of a lot. And if you start with a relationship, it's so much easier to build it and grow it and scale it in a way that is efficient. And it helps you to have confidence in yourself as well because you're staying in your zone of genius and not stepping outside of it.
Mm, I love how you said that. Question number 5: What other business leader like yourself would you like to acknowledge and invite to be on my podcast?
You know, there is a genius business coach named Carly Hope who would be fantastic.
Great, I'll look forward to, uh, to reaching out to her. Thank you for that referral. And our final question, question number 6: Please tell me about your first job.
My first job was packing sausages for my dad's meat packing plant, and it was horrific.
Oh, I can only imagine.
Yeah, I don't, I don't, I don't eat sausage or make— nope.
Oh my gosh. What, uh, do I dare ask, what did you learn from that experience?
I learned that I really hate the smell of raw meat. And that my dad is a taskmaster. I adore him, but, but working for him was eye-opening.
I can only, only imagine. Wow. Well, that, and that's the first, uh, first guest I've had that has, uh, worked in a sausage plant. So, so now I could check that one off.
So, you know, everyone helps out.
Absolutely. So, Bree, thank you so much for being on the show. How can people find you?
You can find me on my website at briannagunn.com or on any social media platform @thebriannagunn.
