In this six‑question, seven‑minute interview on the Winning at Business and Life podcast, host Professor Pete Alexander talks with Sheryl Green, an author, speaker, and book coach. Green explains that she helps entrepreneurs publish and promote books, emphasizing that storytelling and clear communication are essential for building expertise and attracting business. She advises leaders that customers are not always right and that it’s acceptable to walk away from exploitative clients. Green recommends fellow business leader Stormy Andrews, founder of Yoko Local Inbound Marketing, as a future podcast guest. She shares a personal anecdote about working in a bakery during high school, highlighting a contrast between her goth style and the white scrubs she wore. The episode concludes with Green’s website, CherylGreenspeaks.com, where listeners can find her books, services, and speaking engagements, and a reminder to follow the podcast on LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, or iTunes.

This is Professor Pete Alexander with the Winning at Business and Life podcast, where business leaders share their insights. It is 6 questions in 7 minutes because successful business leaders are busy and rarely have more time to spare. So let's get to it. Question number 1: In a few sentences, please tell me who you are and what you do.
Hey, so my name is Sheryl Green. I am an author, a speaker, and a book coach. So I help businesses and entrepreneurs get their information out and share their ideas with the world.
Cheryl, it's so great to have you on the show. Question number 2: What's the best thing about working in your industry?
One, I can do it from home, um, which is great for right now. But you know what, it's just being able to help people create and have something that they can hold in their hands when they've done that will get them more business, establish them as an expert, and actually help them help the world.
That's awesome. I love it. Question number 3, as an author, you're going to appreciate this. I have a book with all the answers for business. What chapter would you think most companies should read?
Communications. They should read about how to talk to their clients, what to say to them, and how to really tell their story about how they got into business, why they got into business, and what to do with that.
I love this, telling a story. It takes, it gets somebody to hear something that doesn't just sound like, oh, here's features, advantages, benefits. Is that where you're going with that?
Absolutely. Sharing stories of your customers and successful happy people, but also sharing really what matters to you and why you went into business in the first place. That's what connects us as people rather than just business people.
Love it, love it. Question number 4. Other than the generic work harder, have a great attitude, and care for customers, What advice or insight would you give to other business leaders?
The customer is not always right. Sometimes the customer is taking advantage of you, and it's okay to say no and to walk away.
Mm-hmm. So in terms of walking away, so literally firing the customer?
Firing a customer or listening to that little voice inside you that says you shouldn't take the customer on to begin with.
Mm-hmm.
So if you can, you can get it at that point, that's the even better one.
Yep. Yep. I couldn't agree more. Question number 5. What other business leader like yourself would you like to acknowledge and invite to be on my podcast?
One of my friends is Stormy Andrews. He is the founder and co-owner of Yoko Local Inbound Marketing. I hope I'm saying that right, but he does a phenomenal job with his clients. He's a great guy and he's got a new book coming out that you might just want to find out about.
Love the name. I'll go ahead and reach out to him. Thank you for the referral. And question number 6, please tell me about your first job.
Oh, that was a doozy. I worked in a bakery during high school. The best part of this is that I was goth, so I wore all black for about 4 years in high school and college, and I had to wear white scrubs every day to my job at the bakery. Oh, so there is a picture of me in the yearbook with the quote, "Oh my God, she's wearing What a great story.
I've got this visual in my, in my head, so it fits perfectly with the storytelling that you were talking about earlier. So Cheryl, thank you so much for being on the show. How can people find you?
CherylGreenspeaks.com is my website. That's Cheryl with an S. You can find all of my books, all of my services, and hire me to be a speaker, and you can also help animals in the process.
