Short motivational monologue arguing that rigid goals are unreliable because circumstances change over a year; instead, the speaker advocates building durable habits and routines (exercise, mental care, positive relationships) that position you for success regardless of specific future objectives. Goals may still be used, but habits should be the non-negotiable commitment.

Goals are not going to get you anywhere. So here's what you need to do instead. So many people set goals that aren't actually in line with where they're going to be in a year. Over the course of a year, things are going to change. New opportunities are going to come up in the next 12 months that you can't possibly predict now. And if you're just stubbornly pursuing your goals, then you're going to miss out on some huge opportunities that you really should have taken. So what you need to do instead is set habits and routines that you're going to stick to. These habits are going to put you on the path to success, no matter what that ends up looking like. Whether you're going to be a millionaire or the best math teacher out there or a pro athlete, you need to work out. You need to take care of your mind. You need to spend time with people who influence you to be better. Now, you can still set goals, and that's great. But if you're going to stubbornly stick to something, it should be your habits, not your goals.
