Peter Vander Wall breaks down online video success as a simple repeatable cycle: show up, speak, edit, post. The hard part isn't the idea. It's consistency. Most creators quit before hitting 100 videos in three months or 1,000 over three years, the threshold that separates success from the rest.

Most good things in life are simple, but they're not easy. And creating content is no different. Succeeding with video content online is pretty simple, right? You show up consistently, you sit in front of the camera, you have something good to say, you have something worth saying, you cut it and edit it a certain way, the same way every single time, and you post it. In other words, there's a proven process that you can follow that you're going to find success. The problem is you have to follow that proven process for a very, very long time. And that is not easy. It's easy to show up once and to have one good thing to say and to make one good video. But to make a hundred videos over the course of three months, to make a thousand good videos over the course of three years, that's not easy by any means. It's simple. It's not hard to wrap your mind around it, but it's very, very hard. And this is really where the go getters can separate themselves from the pack. If you can just grind it out, if you can just show up consistently over time, you will see results. But 99% of people are unwilling to do that because it is hard. So you can separate yourself from 99% of the world by simply showing up over time and consistently doing the hard thing.
