Short YouTube clip (Know Your Value #shorts) in which a CPA reflects on leaving W2 employment to own a firm, the cashflow pressure of no steady paycheck, taking on low-value work (one-off tax returns, low-hourly consulting), and the strategic need to develop higher-ticket services marketed to different customers rather than simply raising prices for existing clients.

When I first started as a cpa, you know, owning your own firm and not having a steady paycheck coming in. When I used to work at a W2, I had a steady paycheck when I was a firm owner and I left on my own. I didn't have a steady paycheck coming in. So that made me take on work that I shouldn't have taken on. I was taking on any sort of work just to get revenue, just to get cash in the door. I was doing one off tax returns that I didn't want to do. I was selling hourly consulting for 80, $100 an hour. And what I realized is that as you get better doing that consulting or that tax pre going to want to charge more. And if you're raising prices on existing clients, that doesn't always fit well. So you almost need to go adjacent and develop a higher ticket service and product that is going to be marketed to a different customer.
