A short YouTube monologue ("Success Isn't a Copy-Paste Job #shorts" by Peter Vander Wall) in which the speaker recounts an interaction with a prospective client who insulted him and said they would copy a current client’s consulting program and frameworks. The speaker declined to help, warned his client, and uses the anecdote to argue that businesses should not simply copy others but develop their own approaches.

So this guy tells me I'm a scammer and a hack, and then proceeds to tell me he's gonna rip off one of my current clients and just copy his program and steal everything from him. So what happened was he saw one of my ads where I said I'm giving away the strategies my clients pay tens of thousands of dollars for completely for free. Which is true, by the way. But he sends me a message, we get to talking, he wants to scale his CPA firm and I told him, great, let's hop on a quick call. I, you know, give him a consulting offer, and we kind of end the call there. Then he messages me later that day saying he's gonna try to book a call with one of my current clients who's got a really great, really unique cons that he's crushing with. Basically pretend he's interested in purchasing this consulting offer and then steal the contract, the frameworks, basically everything that my current client has worked so hard to put together. Just like copy paste what he's doing. So I told him, I'm not going to help him with a damn thing if that's how he's going to operate his business. And, you know, the conversation just kind of ended there. I let my actual client know that this guy was trying to pull something on him, and that was that. So moral of the story, don't be like this guy, do your own thing. Don't just try to copy somebody else who's doing well.
