How often do you hear the 'F' word at your company?

A look at what corporate culture actually means and where companies get it wrong. Most workplaces talk about culture but don't build the basics: respect, stability, and honest expectations about what the job is.
Have you heard the F word in the corporate world? Family saying the company is like my family is what the F? I have worked 16, 17 years in the corporate world. Still no clue what it means. Can you define culture? Is it ping pong tables? Casual Fridays? Pizza parties? Random games during interviews? What's the biggest cliche I hear? I'm choosing this job for the culture. Really? Let's be honest. No hiring manager is going to tell you, hey, we are terrible. We'll call you during weekends and holidays and make you stay longer to make your life miserable. Candidates do not know what they're asking for when they say culture. Companies do not know either what they're selling. So drop the buzzwords, get real. At the end of the day, you're not here to find a new family. The one at home is more than enough. Save. We pay on time. Respect your time while you're here. Stability. No guarantee. We know you could fire us anytime. We are here to work and get paid. Maybe, just maybe, enjoy a coffee break without any drama. And that, my friends, is a culture we can all get behind.
