This is a YouTube video titled "How to deal with mental health in the workplace?" containing a discussion from July 26, 2021, about mental health challenges within Asian cultures and the importance of authentic leadership in recognizing and addressing mental health issues. The excerpt features multiple speakers sharing personal experiences and perspectives on depression, anxiety, and leadership, but none of the speakers is named Rahul Wadhwa.
And to dive a little deeper. What I mean by that is in our Asian culture, right? Vietnam, Chinese, Japanese, whatever, growing up in that culture, they never talk about this stuff. They always say, just get your mind straight. But I'll stamp it here. Growing up my entire life, I had never still till this day ever had any sort of conversation with my parents about depression, anxiety and just things like that.
And I think I still remember, you know, the first time or first three or four sessions I had with my therapist. I literally cried throughout all the sessions.
Because they were looking back. Now I have no regrets. No regrets. You have to be real and true in yourself.
Some people are just better at hiding their true personality when other people are not, right? It's just a matter of, I think when that mask will probably wear off.
You will put your time and energy there for them. And you see them no more and no less than you. You really gotta. Simon Sinek says it's better than anyone else. A leader is someone who sits down, stares at you in the eye and say, rahul, how are you? Something's off. You have to catch that. That's the leader's job, to catch that and address it immediately. Come on.
