How to succeed at Sales?- Eric Jones

This is a YouTube video titled "How to succeed at Sales?- Eric Jones" containing a monologue by Eric Jones recorded in November 2021. The content provides advice on succeeding in sales, emphasizing mentorship, informational interviews, mindset, and perseverance during challenging times such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The speaker shares personal insights and practical tips for newcomers to the sales industry.
Try to have as many informational interviews, try to create as many mentors as possible to understand if sales is right for you. Because it could be a great experience, but it could be a really bad three years, you know, and so don't, don't try to reinvent the wheel. Learn as much as you can before you start. And there's a, there's a burgeoning industry right now that they do boot camps and whatnot and every. And they prepare folks that are in college, even high school for sales roles. So it's kind of close to that model. But I would say start off with some wins. That takes a lot of the pressure off. You don't want to be at month four with a goose egg because organizations have no problem. Organizations, believe it or not, are heartless. They will put you on a pipeline. They will say, you have to hit these numbers or you're gone by month seven. And then you're kind of like, shoot, do I switch. So I switch careers or do I go into the interview process telling them that I'm here because I was on a pip? So it coincided perfectly. I mean, there's a lot of things that people complain about with COVID and blah, blah, blah. And I think it presents some, some amazing opportunities. You know, everything from, from the way you can social sell to. Let's say you have a dating service called Covid Casanovas and you provide a dating book for people that need to know how to date during this time. So mentors, read the books, have as many informational interviews as you can with people outside the industry that have been in the industry for a long time with your manager. Just be like, Raul, I'm going to tell you straight up, this is what I think I'm good at. This is what I think where I think I need help. I do want to tell you I want to try my very best. And I'm going to have to lean on you a little bit because you have the expertise of dealing with all these personalities and STRs. But I want to guarantee you that I'm going to give you 100, 110% things happening in India or family members or things going on internationally and realizing, you know what, I'm making phone calls all day, trying to set up meetings. This, this really is not a big deal compared to like some of the world's bigger problems, you know, so putting things in perspective, gratitudes. I, I have a whole list of, of things I do that, that, that make sure that your mindset is right. I think that's that's really huge. Being competitive helps. You know, I want to be on the wall of fame. I don't want to be on the wall of shame. And, you know, I worked at Salesforce, and. And they actually did have a wall of shame. That sucks. When you come in the morning and you find yourself on the wall of shame, what would be best? Getting a solid night, eight hours sleep, or doing a hybrid of sleeping, worrying. Like, you have to do your absolute best when you're there and then know that you did it, and then go to sleep. Read books. You know, not as slow as you do, but read books. I hate you for that. You remember everything. Hey, come on.
