Come on. And you don't have to follow a script. You don't have to write down word by word what you're going to say and then follow it through like a robot. It's a conversation. And if you equip yourself with the right skills, you don't have to worry about what you're going to say because you know, you can have prompts there to remind you of the information that you need to gather, but you can put it in your own words because you're a grown up and you do that every day. You know, no one is, you know, I need to speak to so and so, you know, your other half, you're annoyed with them about something. You don't write a script and then go and read it to them. It just doesn't happen because you don't need to. You know how you're feeling. And it's the same thing about your product. It's just pulling on different resources and creating what I call your own toolkit to help you to sell in your own style. And that's the important thing is you can read books, you can go to seminars, you can do all these things from gurus who were doing your job about 20 years ago. And it's like, but they were doing your job 20 years ago. Think about the difference in technology, the world around you now versus 10, 20 years ago. It's madness. Sometimes you kind of do sell people things that they don't think they want, but they have a need. And so you're there going, you know what? And it's one of those things, you know, I know that this will help you get that outcome that you're looking for and you're selling them the outcome. It's when you're sending people something they don't need, that's when it's wrong. You know that that person doesn't actually need it. They're not going to benefit from it, but you're still pushing it for your own objective. If you know that you can truly help that person resolve that problem and get the outcome that they're looking for, why wouldn't you? It's like knowing that there's a solution to a problem that your friend has and then just sitting there and watch them struggle, of course you'd help them. Of course you'd let them know you can help them. And the thing is, you only have a finite amount of resource. And be that, you know, you're providing a service or you're providing a product, it's not limitless. Whereas you Know, you can sell that to anybody. So what you're after is selling it to the right person who can get the best outcome, who can provide you with evidence that what you do works. And so they can have a good experience and they can go out and be an advocate for you. And that works. Whether this is your own business or whether you're working for somebody else and you're selling their products or services.
What is one advice or what is one thing which you can teach them about sales, which they can maybe, you know, which can take them through the, you know, next one year or so.
It would. It would be to play the long game and protect your relationship with your customer, your integrity, your word is what you've got. That's what you bring to the table. Don't promise something that won't come to fruition just to make the sale. I've been there where I've had pressure put on me by management to generate sales for. For that month or for that quarter and bring sales in at all costs. And the problem is, is that you will hurt next. Next quarter's sales because you've bought that, that, that work that money in prematurely. But then also you're hurting the relationship. You're pushing that person. You know, you can pull strings and you can call on relationships when you've built that emotional bank account with them, when you've built up that rapport. But don't damage your relationships for the same sake of hitting the target.
Your favorite superhero.
My favorite superhero. Oh, my word. You know what? No one has ever asked me that question. It's probably. Oh, you see, I quite liked.
Oh, you can only choose one.
Thor I quite like thoroughly. Thor's got angry. Maybe I'll go with Thor. See, I really like taiman, but they've killed him off now. I mean, what's that all about? Yeah, Iron man or Thor? We'll go with Iron Man.
Thor. Okay. Or Iron Man.
Iron Man. We'll go with iron man.
Okay.
