SDRs often get left behind when companies send teams to tradeshows, but entry-level reps actually benefit from the exposure. Seeing how deals happen and meeting customers face-to-face teaches them more than months of cold calling.
Are you in SDR and your boss is not sending you to a trade show? Well, it's time that we called it out. When I was in sdr, asked my boss if I could attend a trade show. He asked me to wait until next year. By then I was a manager. And yes, I did attend the trade show and many after that. Then I looked around and saw startups would often send their managers, VPs and above these trade shows. Understandable. You want to show the roi. It was a norm. Everybody was doing it so we felt it was normal. Until I joined one company that was hell bent on giving these reps the exposure of going to the events, talking to the prospect, representing their brand on a global level and sending these entry level team members. I was like what are you crazy? It was in my head. I didn't say out loud. Anyways, it just made sense. Reps when they came back were more confident. They knew things I did not brought back the learning. So how other competition and other companies were pitching had a sense of pride and not just their best reps. They wanted to send everyone such monsters.
