AI is automating SDR and BDR tasks fast enough to threaten the role itself. The speaker argues these positions need to adapt to survive, as field sales teams are already shifting how they work around new AI capabilities.
From your perspective, what is really changing? Yeah, so it's a good question. I mean a lot of people are talking about it. It's. We are definitely in a state of punctuated equilibrium, right? Like the way if you understand evolutionary biology, right. Like things can happen gradually, right? You have change over time or you have an event that takes place that changes things really quickly. So think the meteor for the dinosaurs change things pretty quickly. AI is a meteor for BDR and SDR teams for anybody frankly that has a lot of aspects, characteristics of the role that can be a effectively automated. Not every element but a lot of it can be. And like you know, people who aren't accepting that I don't know what you're going to do in a couple years when it just keeps continues to get better. You know, I call them technological luddites. Like at some point, like you can't deny Pandora's box is open. It's here, right? We can rail against AI bdrs as much as we want. We can rail against gen generated emails as much as we want. The reality is a lot of end users, a lot of consumers of that content, they're not going to care. Especially five years from now when it becomes really normalized. So for sure, I think it's not dead completely, but you have to shift, you have to start to embrace what the new paradigms are and consider where the actual value add is going to come from.
