This is a YouTube video titled "Why Gatekeepers Block You when you cold call—And How to Get Through?" featuring Rahul Wadhwa speaking about strategies to effectively communicate with gatekeepers during cold calls. The content, created in February 2025, provides advice on building rapport and confidence to gain access to decision makers' calendars.
Lets talk gatekeepers for a second. You know, the ones who got the keys to your prospect's calendar. Like a fortress. I get it. It can feel like you're trying to get past the bouncer at an exclusive club. But there's a trick. First thing, remember, the gatekeeper is not your enemy. They are just doing their job, protecting the decision maker's time. So be respectful, but also be confident. When they ask who's calling, don't stammer or sound unsure. You go in there and say, yeah, this is Rahul calling for James about a recent initiative they're working on. Notice, I did not say, may I please speak to John? No, you stated like you belonged on that call. The trick is to sound like you're supposed to be talking to the boss. The gatekeeper is going to respond to that confidence. And another thing, use their name. If they say, this is Mary, you come back with, hi Mary. Maybe you can help me out. It builds that human connection. Makes them want to help you rather than block you. So yes, next time you're dialing in, don't make the gatekeeper your adversary. Treat them like your ally and walk through the door like you belong there. If that doesn't work, well, there's always this banana call. Sometimes a little humor goes along. Break.
