Rahul Wadhwa argues SDR compensation should tie to meetings booked, not past job titles or employer prestige. He describes an SDR who rejected multiple offers chasing one prestigious brand, then got rejected himself, illustrating how entitlement undermines the sales market.

This is eating up the SDR ecosystem. Entitlement. If my SDR is making X and bringing in 10 meetings a month and you want 2X salary, you better bring 2X meetings. That is the job. How else do you justify your pay? Titles do not justify your salary. Past logos do not justify your salary. I do not care if you worked at Rippling, Salesforce, Chargebee, or even the hottest startup in the world. Show me what you can do today. Show me you can write an email, make the call, book the meeting, explain why something converted. If you cannot do that, there are others who will, and some of them will do far better job for less. Now, this is not harsh, this is the actual reality. There are hungry SDRs in the market, people who want reps and not titles, people who want results and not brand validation. Then there is brand obsession. I personally know an SDR who said no to every opportunity because he was fixated on one big brand, waited, chased the logo, and that company eventually rejected him. Ouch! No backup, no leverage. Sales does not reward fascination, it rewards execution. If you want stability, earn it every quarter. This entitlement has to stop. Because sales is not about what you think you deserve, it's about what you can consistently produce. And the market always decides.
