Hello everyone. Today is a Diabetes Awareness day and I'm here to share some important insights with you. I'm Jwanthrangi. I'm an endocrinologist with 20 years of experience and I'm incredibly passionate about diabetes care. Recently, I had a conversation with one of my patients who expressed a keen interest in what we hear as Hollywood drugs. These are medications like Ozempic, Mounjaro, etc. These are influenced by information on social media platforms like TikTok or celebrity endorsements for weight loss. There's a growing trend of individuals seeking these prescriptions due to popular cultural influence. The surge in demand has created the supply demand crisis causing curiosity and overwhelming request for these medications once they have received approval for weight loss purposes. Now let's look at the crucial understanding of the underlying key message. While these medications like Ozempic and Mounjaro are excellent options for diabetes care, they're not magic bullets. We have an array of fantastic medications with proven results, but it's crucial to avoid shortcuts. The best approach to managing diabetes involves a solid foundation of lifestyle choices. Let's not forget the basics, the diet, the exercise, stress management and the quality sleep. These elements form the foundation of managing diabetes effectively. Managing medications can work wonders, but they work best when they're combined with healthy lifestyle choices. Now, I want to be transparent also about the limitations of these medications. They may work for a while, but stopping them could lead to weight regain. That's why it's essential to view these medications as a part of a comprehensive strategy, especially considering their cardiovascular or cardio protective effects or benefits on your heart and kidney protective effects. Now, whether you're dealing with pre diabetes diabetes or advanced diabetes, we are here to help you. It's crucial to protect yourself from complications that can arise from chronic health problems. Diabetes can affect your relationships, it can affect your lifestyle, it can affect your finances, and it puts you at a high risk for serious conditions like heart attacks, strokes, amputations, dialysis, kidney failure or blindness. And those could be prevented by keeping diabetes under better control. Let's work together to spread the awareness about diabetes care. If you have any questions or concerns about your metabolic health or diabetes, feel free to reach us out. The more informed and educated you are about your options, the better you can live your life with the least number of medications. Thank you for joining me today on Diabetes Awareness Day. Let's make the difference together. Thank you.
