Dr. Jaiwant Rangi describes the silent decade, the ten-year period when blood glucose gradually rises without symptoms. About 39% of people with pre-diabetes progress to full diabetes within ten years, while 36% revert to normal without intervention. This window offers a critical chance to reverse course before diabetes takes hold.

You know, everybody's different. The process can happen too quick in someone or can happen over the years. Majority of the time, it happens over the years, and this is where people miss the point. Diabetes doesn't happen overnight. It's a silent decade, and that's the reason I wrote the book, The Silent Decade Before Diagnosis. Now, this is where the things are slowly going wrong. Your blood sugars are creeping up. Your pancreas is able to work it harder and harder, but you feel fine. You have absolutely no symptoms and no warning signs. Now, studies show that about 39% of people with pre-diabetes will progress to full diabetes over the next 10 years. But here's the good news: 36% actually go back to normal on their own. So this is a silent decade which I've been referring to, where the window of opportunity is there, and we want to make sure we reverse the process and we take care of things sooner than later when it progresses to diabetes and progressively to complications.
