Candy Son uses Langston Hughes's "A Dream Deferred" and the story of Joseph to argue that postponed dreams aren't denied ones. When you trust God with your aspirations, setbacks become divine positioning for a greater purpose.

Yo, what's up family? This is your boy Can't Get Right Without the Lord. Still call me Candy Son. I'm grown. I don't know why they still call me Candy Son. Come on, man. Can I ever just be Ray? Can I ever be somebody grown? Oh well, she my mama. What can I do? Yo, check this out, man. This is crazy. You know, there was a, a poem a long time ago by Langston Hughes, a great poet, a great poet. I'm a fan of poetry, but it was called A Dream Deferred, A Dream Deferred. And he talks about this dream and using a whole bunch of metaphors, basically talks about if the dream doesn't happen, you know, and at the end of the poem he talks about what's going to happen to the poem, you know, what's going to happen to your dream actually. Is it going to explode? And I thought that was pretty cool. But from a spiritual standpoint, I believe that when you give your dreams to God Things happen when you give your dreams to God. God, it happens, especially if it's designed and in line with his purpose. What am I trying to say? You know, there's a code text in the Bible in Genesis 45:8. Genesis 45:8. Genesis 45:8. See that, right? Okay, now in Genesis 45:8, Joseph tells his brothers, it wasn't you that sent me into the land of Egypt. But it was God. It was God. Yes, God. Yes, it was God that sent me into the land of Egypt. Okay, for those of you who haven't read your Bible in a while or haven't been to BTU and really just don't know who Joseph is, that's actually a cold text because now over 20 years And now Joseph is talking to his brothers. Now you say, well, what's the big deal? He's talking to his brothers after 20 years. Okay, first of all, 20 years before, he had told his brothers he had a dream, and in his dream he was going to be somebody very important. His brothers was going to bow down to him, even his mother and father was going to bow down to him. And they got mad. And you know, his daddy, you know, loved him a whole lot and made him a coat that was different than the other brothers and everything, which was kind of kind of wrong, which lets us know that we all come from dysfunctional families. That's right. But it was crazy because he went in his little Armani coat of many colors and everything, you know, this little Sean John coat, little, you know what I'm saying, little, little Gucci coat. And he went and told his brothers, you know, hey, look, Daddy said do this right here. So when they saw him coming, they said, here come that dreamer. And then they got mad, you know what I'm saying, put some paws on them and throw them in the ditch. Now while he's in the ditch, they sitting up there eating. They're eating, but he's in the ditch. But this the part that tripped me out. While he was in the ditch, he was right where he was supposed to be. Yo, that's crazy. He was right where he was supposed to be because God was getting ready to bless him. Now just fast forward through the whole story. He get him out the ditch, they sold him to the land, a different land, and he went through this, he went through that, and And then, you know, he was a slave, and then he got accused of rape. He's wrongly convicted like Rubin Hurricane Carter. He was in prison for a long time for something he didn't do. And while he was in prison, he kept on believing in God. He kept on believing in his dream, and he was able to interpret people's dreams, not like Miss Cleo who charges $49.95, and some of these prophets, P-R-O-F-I-T, yeah. But anyway, what happened was he was able to interpret dreams But what was cool about this whole situation, all this time God was building him and humbling him for his purpose. His whole purpose was started in a pit and now it's in the prison. And God was like, I'm doing something with you, you don't see it. So what am I trying to say? Don't worry about if you feel like you have not reached your dream yet. The Bible says, and we know that all things work together for good to them who love God, to them who are called, the called according to his purpose, which lets me know that God got you right where he wants you to be. Now, make a long story short, um, you know, some stuff had happened to Pharaoh. You got to go back and read it, but some stuff had happened to Pharaoh. He went crazy and he was having all these dreams. They remembered Joseph. Joseph got out of prison. He He saved Egypt, and actually, believe it or not, because of what he had did, that's how the children of Israel, the Israelites, actually got into the land of Egypt, all because of this one man's suffering. So sometimes God's going to use you, but you're going to have to suffer. He's going to use you, but you have to suffer. So this is your boy K. Get Right Without the Lord. Just want to drop that in your spirit. Thank you for the shirts that y'all been buying. They on sale even right now. I put the number and information there.
