In this short video, Ray Sorrell delivers the third day’s lesson of his 30‑day dating challenge. He argues that seeking a perfect partner is a recipe for failure, emphasizing that everyone—including the viewer—has flaws. He critiques the habit of creating rigid “boxes” or checklists (e.g., six‑pack abs, $100k income, specific height) and urges people to adopt realistic expectations focused on how a partner treats you rather than superficial attributes. He stresses that love is a long‑term commitment, not a quest for an idealized version of a person, and that claiming perfection is itself dishonest. A brief interjection from a second speaker apologizes for a breach of trust and reiterates that love is a choice, reinforcing the theme of accountability and intentionality in relationships.

If you want to fail at relationships, don't listen to me, keep on scrolling. But I got you, day number 3. Oh Lord, y'all, what's your problem? Quit looking for perfection. There's no such thing. Everybody got something, everybody got something wrong with them, and so do you. The problem is we have this situation where we think everybody's supposed to fit into our little box that we made, our little list. It's not realistic. Everybody got something. So day number 3, remember day number 1? I'm gonna keep going back to day number 1. We talked about honesty. You got something wrong with you too, okay? You got the little twitch in your eye, when your breast is bigger than the other, you know, you got a limp. There's something wrong with you. So you gotta understand that Nobody's perfect. Say, bro, you ain't, you ain't got a six-pack, so why you looking for a woman with a six-pack? You, you ain't, you ain't been to the gym in months, but you want somebody to— you know what I'm saying? So let's be realistic, ladies. Everybody ain't make $100,000. They don't. You're not being real. Look, everybody don't fit into the box, right? Everybody's not gonna make $100,000. Everybody's not gonna be 6 feet tall, right? But does he treat you right? Men, does she treat you right? Yes, she got stretch marks on her stomach like Google Maps. It don't matter, right? Does she treat you good? So perfection is not realistic. If you're looking for somebody to love, you're looking for somebody to die with, be old with, and be at the nursing home together, loving on each other. Then that's what you got to consider. All right, please understand, there's no such thing as perfection. You're not perfect yourself. If you think you're perfect, then you're already lying. That means you're a liar. That's part of your imperfection.
Today I didn't play in your face. It was the other man. It was the other man. I didn't break your trust, baby. Please understand. Yeah. Love is a choice. Oh, oh, oh, oh.
