In this brief interview segment, Ray Sorrell asks Speaker B about his early experiences with incarceration. Speaker B explains that growing up in the East Terrace neighborhood conditioned him to handle intense pressure and adversity, which he believes prepared him for the challenges of prison. He emphasizes that the hardships of street life are tougher than any penitentiary, and that his resilience allows him to "turn the corner" toward redemption. The conversation is informal and reflective, highlighting themes of mental conditioning, resilience, and the transformative potential of confronting hardship.

But how is that going to prison at that age, having to deal with that?
Not only am I going to say I was, um, I ain't going— I don't want to use the term conditioned for it, but being from the East Tears, regardless of what anybody got to say or what they think, but just being from the East Tears And when you really East Terrace, it prepares you for— I don't give a damn what it is you, you, you gotta face, it prepares you for it. So I'm not gonna say that I was prepping for the penitentiary or whatnot, but I was prepared for pressure, put it like that.
So at 17, mentally, you was you was conditioned. And I, and I'm not— I don't like that word. That's why I said, but yeah, you know what I'm saying?
Because the shit that you see and the shit that you experience, the shit that you may do, the shit that somebody may attempt to do to you or do to you in the streets when you from the East Terrace, from that area that I came from, shit. I mean, shit. And you stand tall and you get through all of that, I mean, the penitentiary, regardless of how rough it is, it ain't gonna never trump that.
Life is too short, bitch. Now turn that corner.
