After all, Naples, Florida is often touted as the golf capital of the world, and for good reason. The city boasts a plethora of world-class golf courses each offering stunning landscapes, challenging layouts, and impeccable conditions. However, while this reputation is well-deserved, there is a hidden truth that many visitors and potential residents may not be aware of, and that is the limited availability of public golf courses. While Naples is home to a vast number of golf courses, many of which are some of the best courses around, a significant portion of them are privately owned and operated, This means that access to these courses is often restricted to members or guests of members. While this exclusivity can be appealing to some, it can also be frustrating for those seeking more affordable and accessible options. To illustrate this point, let's consider some of the facts and figures. According to the Naples Area Board of Realtors, there are approximately 90 golf courses in the Naples area. Hello, that's beautiful! And of these, There are just a handful that are considered public, meaning they are open to the general public without requiring membership or special privileges. This means that a significant portion of the golfing options in Naples are off-limits to many visitors and residents. While the public golf courses in Naples may be fewer in number, though, they are often of exceptional quality. Some of the most renowned public courses in the area include Tiburon Golf Club, which was designed by Greg Norman, and this course is home to PGA TOUR's QBE SHUTOUT. Naples Grande showcases an 18-hole championship course that offers stunning views of the Gulf of Mexico. Arrowhead Golf Club in North Naples is a classic Florida layout with mature trees and water hazards. And Lely Resort showcases two public golf courses, the Mustang Course and the Flamingo. Even with these excellent public options, the limited availability can still be a deterrent for some. For those who prefer to play golf regularly or on a budget, the lack of public courses can make it difficult to find suitable options. This is particularly true during peak season when tee times can be hard to come by even at the public courses. So while Naples is undoubtedly a golfer's paradise, the reality is that many of the courses in the area are private. This can make it challenging for those seeking affordable and accessible options. However, the public courses do exist in Naples and are of great quality, offering a wonderful golfing experience. For those who are willing to be flexible and plan ahead, Naples can still be a great destination for golf, golf enthusiasts. Now join me next time when we tackle another aspect of Naples living.
