€3,000,000 funding for regenerative farmers

A YouTube video by Richard Perkins describing funding opportunities for regenerative farmers—especially projects involving tree systems—via a partnership with Ecosia. Perkins recounts past funded startups (Garner Girls, Remini Farm), explains that Ecosia will increase funding to up to €3,000,000 per year starting next year, notes he serves as an expert reviewer on funding panels, and promotes his upcoming eight-week online masterclass (January–March) to help applicants produce land and business plans.

Welcome back to another video, folks. I've been very busy that I haven't been making content for you, but it was starting to pack the farm down and today I wanted to let you know about funding streams available for regenerative farmers, especially those focused on tree systems in their farm. Okay, big cleanup. There's been very low amount of people, less people than we've ever had on the farm this year. Consequently, the gardens have been out of control this summer. So I'm now here until the end of the season, just clearing up, getting things back in order. You can see I've cleared the south beds, except for brassicas in four of the beds, and now I'm just laying down wood chip, just doing it by hand with buckets, just putting a layer on before we cover the beds up, ready for the wintertime. So some of you will remember a couple of years ago I teamed up with Ecosia, the search engine that plants trees with the ad revenue created from their platform, and we teamed up to create a fund to start supporting startups in regenerative agriculture. In that first year, we funded the Garner Girls in Normandy in France. I'm going to put links to their Instagram below if you haven't checked them out. They're doing incredible work. They've worked really hard. After training at our farm and other farms, they've set up pastured poultry and market gardens and are working really hard over there in France to set up a really beautiful farm there. We also funded the startup of Remini Farm in Hungary and those two came to trainings that I held with Curtis Stone here at our farm years ago now. And they've set up an incredible pastured poultry operation with layers, with broilers and they've got cows over there in Hungary and really shaking things up over there. I'll put their Instagram link below too. But I've recently been talking with some of the people at Ecosia and they're upping the funds that they're putting out into reforestation and regenerative agriculture that involves forestry. Up to 3 million euros a year starting next year. I'm going to have a link at the top below, where if you want to apply for funding, that's the place to go. I sit as one of the experts on the panels that analyzes your land and business plan to see whether we think you're eligible for funding. People are always asking me about different ways to secure funding for startups, and as you know, I've dedicated my life to supporting tens of thousands of people to get into small scale regenerative agriculture. And really I think this system with Ecosia is probably my favorite route to recommend to people. So this is a low risk loan in the sense that they're asking you to come up with a beautiful made land plan and business plan that we can analyze because we only want to fund things that we're confident are going to work and see much benefit in their community, etc. But then you've got to decide the interest you'll pay back over how long and the aim is to treat it a bit like a normal bank loan where their pot keeps increasing, that they can just keep supporting more and more initiatives. And I think that's a brilliant idea in many ways. It's a very low risk loan. The risk is on Ecosia, if you totally mess up your plan, they're not going to come and chase you down and take your house away from you and your kids like a bank would. So that's the way I would think of it. It's a low cost loan and I like that because it makes you very seriously consider what you actually need and make the effort to put down a land plan over the next five years as well as the actual detailed plan of what you want to do on the land. And that's a fantastic resource available to people all over the world potentially. So I hope you can check that out in the links below and I'm excited to hear about more startups that are coming through there. I've recommended various people to look into that fund along the way and I've also recommended my favorite sailing channel, Tally Ho, which I've mentioned on social media a few times. They're also looking to do a big reforestation project to put back some of the timber from the incredible boat they're building. So I'm trying to direct them to Ecosia's funding streams as well. I think it's an incredible opportunity and if you want to sit down and do that work of planning, then you can look into our online masterclass that will be running again January till March. And that's an eight week super intensive training with lots of lifetime access to all of the materials and a supportive peer group from all over the world. And that's specifically designed for people to start from nothing and create a land plan and a business plan and a sales strategy for all manner of diverse farm enterprises in a really inclusive, supportive learning space. You can sign up in the links below to receive more details of that when it will become available again, but that'll be happening. January to March next year. Thanks so much for watching folks. Just a quick update. I've got about a month now to get the farm ship shape ready for winter. I look forward to seeing you in a video soon. Bye for now. Don't, don't.
