Richard R. Ramos discusses why jail leaders need to experience the facilities firsthand. The Parents on a Mission program runs classes across all sections of Kern County Jail, from the Farm to maximum-security units. Staff feel nervous entering these spaces, and direct exposure helps leaders remove barriers and support the program's success.

Part of for us, and we learned this from you too, Richard, is that as leaders, we need to also have that experience. We need to go through the process so that we have a full understanding and be able to support our staff through the process as well whenever they find some barriers or some challenges. But no, I had the opportunity to go inside and teach these classes. Sometimes when we would have new staff, they are nervous and scared. to go inside of the jail. But we have been in every part of the, of the Kern County Jail, in the area that is, you know, low risk, you know, a minimum security called the Farm, to maximum security, to the women's jail. And now they have the new facility called Justice, and now we are delivering Parents on a Mission in that facility.
So, so we will start there, and then I want you to talk about your personal experience. So what have you seen over the years? What have you seen the impact of Parents on a Mission inside the jail?
