In this YouTube video, Rick Lee James delivers an acoustic guitar cover of Michael Jackson’s classic “Billie Jean,” but replaces the original lyrics with a new, narrative‑driven version. The performance blends the familiar melody with fresh verses that tell a story about a mysterious woman named Billie Jean, warnings about love, and a repeated refrain emphasizing that “the kid is not my son.” The singer’s tone is playful yet reflective, emphasizing the fun of playing the song on acoustic guitar while exploring themes of identity, deception, and caution in relationships.

Chapters

Felt like playing a little Billie Jean this morning because it's awful fun to play on acoustic guitar. She was more like a beauty queen in a movie scene, said, "Don't mumble, what do you mean I'm the one?" As she danced on the floor in the round. She told me her name was Billie Jean, as she caused a scene. Every eye moved with eyes that dreamed of being the one who would dance on the floor in the round. And people always told me, be careful what you do, you go around breaking young girls' hearts. And Mama always told me, Told me, be careful who you love, be careful what you do, 'cause the lie becomes the truth. Little Jean is not my lover, just a girl that says that I am the one. The kid is not my son. I am the one. The kid is not my son. Says, "I am the one. The kid is not my son."
